Opening for Elliott? NFL investigator Kia Roberts recommended no suspension **merged**

If this goes to court, I think the NFLPA (on behalf of Elliott) needs to make the argument that they allowed the NFL the right to enact its own disciplinary policies with the understanding that those policies would be enforced in good faith..... and now its become obvious that the NFL is NOT acting in good faith, and as a result, the NFL should no longer be able to enforce those policies on its own.

"The advisory committee’s finding may have boiled down to believing Thompson more than Elliott."....just wow

Zeke's accuser told him in a battle of "he said, she said", her whiteness would prevail. That advisory committee should be ashamed for proving her right. Way to go Commish Goodell for showing the whole country that "white privilege" really does exist. Zeke's appeal should be successful in getting this suspension vacated. Kia's recommendation is so right on target.

Incredible.

Still think there is no conspiracy against the Dallas Cowboys, their players, and fan base?

This is a blatantly steered attempt at keeping a Top 5 NFL player off the field to the benefit of their most direct competition.

This is "Dez Caught It" and the Blandino reversal only with a man's reputation ruined instead of an outcome.

Some people thought I was going overboard on suggesting the overdone reffing, even during preseason. Jerry Jones made someone higher up mad and the league has been hosing the cowboys with calls and now this Elliott thing

I still can't believe Goodell is about to get a 5-year extension thru the 2024 season. He is being rewarded for falling tv ratings and incompetent handling of numerous player disciplinary issues. It's baffling.

His handling of Zeke's suspension has been abysmal.
He's made the owners billions.

No he didn't. He's the commissioner, he isn't responsible for tv contracts. Jerry is the main guy in those. Some think Goddell is a lawyer, but he is not.
Nope, it was Goodell that worked the CBA into a quadruple grand slam for the owners.

He's made the owners billions.

There are a large number of businessmen or lawyers who would have made just as much money for the owners. Many of them would have been reasonably honest and competent in protecting the owners interests without a perpetual war with the NFLPA. Goodell is not one of those people.

That stupid ******* GMFB show on NFLN stomped Zeke after the suspension was announced. They are Goodell's mouthpiece. It will be pindrop silence.

Think the NFL has a ratings issue? This is a serious black eye and will only make things worse.

After Jerry cleans house, Mickey, Broaddus, and Helman will be doing that show.

Exactly. Goodell is presiding over falling tv ratings, which will eventually be reflected in tv contracts when it comes time to renew. ESPN is losing over 3 million subscribers a year. They are currently paying huge money for MNF but that will change when their current deal expires. I don't see the added value that Goodell brings. I'd say Jerry deserves much more credit than Goodell for increasing NFL revenue.

He's made the owners billions.

No he's the who just happens to be the commissioner of the most popular product in the world. He has literally been by far and away the worst commissioner the league has ever seen. The NFL to its customers is their crack cocaine and it doesn't matter who is in charge at this point.

Here's my running theory on all of this. It all comes down to the bar fight. The NFL statement explicitly stated that there were no punches thrown in the bar fight. The bar fight produced the pictures. There are real bruises but the issue is that every eyewitness contradicts her account including two police officers. They are pinning him with all of the bruises. Considering how flawed they've handled this, my speculation is that the other bruises amount to nothing and that by denying the bar fight any impact on her bruising, they're tallying all of it to Zeke. That's why investigators don't buy her story and why there was supposedly disagreement between the medical examiners. I believe one of them also spoke at the appeal.

Goodell and the rest take her theory on the bar fight, put it out of mind and you're left with an obviously roughed up individual. It fits their predetermined conclusion and is easy to do if you take out that one big piece.

In other words does the CBA give Goodell the power to make up lies and slander any player he wants to?

Actually, it appears to be worse than disregarding a recommendation. The findings and recommendation by their own appointed investigator was being suppressed. The information was not allowed in the report and the investigator was barred from being at the meeting. I'm not an attorney, but that seems to be a suppression of information and a much more serious issue than simply listening to someone's recommendation. Especially since the investigator was the only person to actually interview the accuser.

Meanwhile back at the NFL League Offices in New York........

Suppressed by who? If Goodell was involved in the "suppression," its probably not really suppression, because he probably has the power to do it. There likely has to be something "corrupt" about suppression, i.e. one of the subordinates would have had to suppress the report before it got to Goodell. But even then, once Goodell became aware of the report, he has the power to act on or disregard it. I assume he is aware of it and has taken no action on it. Probably all that has to happen for the suspension to be upheld is that the NFL needs to appear as if it acted in good faith; it conducted a genuine investigation and the outcome was not predetermined.
