No disrespect taken from me, you know, a person who actually went to war. If you wanna piss, kneel for protest, grab a beer, etc, do you do. 'Merica! It's why we're the best.

These grandstanding folks that say this or that about the protests and Black Lives Matter, etc are just angry and found something new to ***** about

For real bro, I didn't wear the uniform for over a decade for a bunch of obese guys to get their feelings hurt because a player wanted to exercise his constitutional right that I SIGNED UP TO DEFEND.

Hell I've sat with my Angels ballcap and sipped my beer at Angels games while they play the anthem at the Ed. Everyone around me was standing and I was begging (in my head) for someone to say something.

My son stood. He did as he pleased. When they ask the vets to stand I stay seated, always. At least sometimes I'm not too lazy to stand for the anthem. My son tries to yank me up, I refuse (for the vet recognition).

I would pay $299 a year (seriously) to get a package of just Cowboys games.

Imagine this - you pay $300 bucks and get all 16 Cowboys games plus post-season, but instead of a ton of commercials you get a few ads (like on DC.com) but the commercial time is filled by either a) live footage of players and coaches mic'd up during the break, or b) studio analysis of what's going on by your team's local crew -- for example, during regular TV commercials, as a paid subscriber, we'd get Brad & Babe in a studio talking about what we just saw on that last drive and how they think it's going.

Brilliant idea, but you'll never see it happen because the league is run by morons and baby boomers.
Great minds think a like. I was just telling my wife about the same idea.

LOL at the continual chatter around the national anthem protests.

Holy hell.

So you'll watch the NFL games even when some of their players are thugs and criminals off the field, but a guy does what he is legally allowed to do, protest, and that turns you off to the game?

Some of you have screwed up priorities.
Yep.

The player protests are a contributing factor. There are other factors as well. Some of the recent rule changes, horrible officiating (especially in crucial games), the addition of Thursday Night Football every week, the stupid CBA that the players agreed to so they wouldn't have to practice as much (meaning a poorer product), parity, inconsistent fines and suspensions, and increasingly more options to watch on TV.......just to name a few.

I don't really care what NFL athletes do. I personally would never dream of disgracing my flag or my anthem, but I also wouldn't dream of missing a Cowboys game because a few guys I don't even know kneel for something I don't care about. That said, I was at a Labor Day party last week with about 20-30 people. I was surprised to hear 5 different people tell me that they weren't going to watch the NFL this year because of the anthem. They said they would simply watch the NCAA and that was it. These were all just average Joe fans, but when the NFL starts to lose the average Joe fan they're in trouble. Personally they could choke puppies at half and I'm still going to watch the Cowboys, but I think this is having a bigger effect on the NFL than some want to admit.

Social Justice Warrior is an insult now due to the professional victimhood status shown by so many people. Couple that with the fact that most protests are organized by paid entities with paid protesters and it screams for condemnation.

"Victimhood status"? Can you please explain to me why the "Social Justice Warrior" refused to stand for the Narional Anthem?

It was my pleasure, Tyke, brother.
My Pops and 2 uncles were in Nam. My deceased baby brother was in the Army. My first cousin is a Navy pilot.

I have mad respect for the military. However, as you know. Kaep's protest wasn't about protesting the flag or the military. The NFL's PR people chose to spin it that way.

That's certainly part of it.

Case in point: I called DirecTV and told them to give me the NFL Ticket for free, or I'm leaving. They called my bluff, so I asked for the person to disconnect my service. They came on and asked what direction I was going. I said I would just stream everything through the PS4 (we have several TVs, so that wouldn't work). By the end of the call, I received DirecTV for free this season and had my overall bill reduced by 40 percent going forward.

Yep, they're not long for this world.

They've had a defacto monopoly for so long they seem to lack innovation.

They really need to find a way to make their product much more affordable.

That seems to be the biggest obligation my friends have. They're not hurting for cash, but they just don't see the value in paying $120/mo for basic level cable/internet package, or $150 when you add premium movie channels.

Why buy that when Internet + Netflix + Hulu (and even throw in HBO Now for good measure) for $75/mo? And I could still go get an antennae for a 1 time cost and watch regular TV and I'm basically covered on almost everything.

If Smart TV technology gets good enough, maybe the cable companies could reduce their overhead by developing a compatible software instead of having to issue out (and charge for) cable box equipment.

Basically, the cable companies need to be smart and evolve into something more closely resembling current streaming services.

None of my battles that watch football, none, are not watching football because of the protests. Sure, some of them don't like it, but none are not watching football because of it. We have an open text thread with ten people, and some are upset about it, but that's all.

People say "social justice warriors," but what of "anthem justice warriors"?

That's all this is. People that have done **** all (largely) for the country, want to have some sort of impact to feel special. Awe, how cute. You won't watch football because someone kneeled. Come here and let me pat you on your head, son.

Family of warriors, Ad, brother. My thanks to their service.

I go to a group semi-occasionally with mostly Vietnam vets (my era/OIF/OEF just doesn't go to these groups as most are in school/work, etc), have a huge respect for them and have forged some great friendships with a few of their era. Most of them ride Harley's, LOL :)

Isn't the decline in ratings relative to the overall decline in tv ratings due to the current technology available and choices ? We saw the first impact of fans habits with MNF moving out of network TV.

Personally I've felt the NFL needed a correction as it's been growing at record levels for years which has inflated ticket and merchandise prices .

I think most fans would welcome a market correction in the NFL.

Alternative facts.

IMO you put a team with more national relevance on the field against NE and ratings would've been right about where they always have been.

The league thought they had the perfect sacrificial lamb set up for the slaughter last night and it blew up in their faces.

Sunday night is where the rating will be at their best

Last night was just the appetizer

I always stay seated when they ask veterans to stand, or when they have veterans on the field I clap for them like I'm just some regular dude who never served. I don't need a red carpet for my service but this constant whining about the anthem protests is getting ridiculous. Just be honest! You don't like the fact that racism exists and its in your face now!
