Time to discussing Tanking

We are 2-3, and 9 teams have a worst record.
May be it is a little early to discuss tanking, but we are getting darn close (perhaps at 2-4 or 3-4).

Why try for a 'winning' record when losing a few more would get a much better draft pick.

With many QBs expected to go early, we could scoop up the Arden Key (DE) or another blue-chip defensive player in the 1st round. Then perhaps pick up a RT (Collins back to LT) or a LG in the early 2nd round.

Alternatively pick up a LT and move TSmith to RT if he is really declining.

Things to do could include tank, play youngsters and protect Dak.

Define "tanking" midseason. Benching starters? Cutting starters? Taking a knee every play on offense? What?

I'm not quite there yet, but if the next game is an loss, I may have to agree. We should not want to go 7-9 or 8-8. That means Garrett stays, and we get a garbage draft pick. Not to mention it drags the false hope on.

If the team is going to be bad, be BAD.

Let me see where we are after the Eagles game but I'm definitely leaning towards a full tank. Stephen Jones will never use free agency as a way to acquire talent so we may have to tank to get real blue chippers on this defense.

Tanking ensures nothing in the NFL This isn't the NBA (even there it provides no guarantee). The NFL is far too dynamic a league for tanking to be a viable strategy. Look no further than Cleveland. They may have not tanked on purpose, but they have consistently been in a position to improve via the draft...and yet they have not. Terrible plan for an NFL team.

Define "tanking" midseason.

1. trade dlaw for high picks come deadline.
2. play young players including Taco even if he is sucking this year. play Collins at the correct position whatever that is.
3. let marinelli play prevent before he and garrett is fired at the end of the season.
4. let Tsmith rest his back if something is wrong. Protect Dak while this is happening as necessary by rolling out and going max protect.
5. play butler, noah brown and switzer more on offense.
6. give up on Twill since he is a progress stopper at this point and no a championship level wr2. trade if possible
7. cut progress stoppers like bell, morris, scandrick and wilber and bring in younger players from our practice squad or other squads.

Twice the GIants came back from a poor start and won the Super Bowl. I know our D sucks but really.....

we have mostly draft well, and picking early gives us options including trading back for more and go for the key blue chipper.

Anyone watching this defense can not say this team has drafted well. Perhaps on the offensive side.

we will never win anything with this coaching staff unless every player is all-pro.

Well done. I see "tanking" here a lot (unfortunately) but no one defines it. With a bye and 5 divisional games left I'm not ready to throw in the towel, but if things don't change by midseason I'm down with a number of those ideas.

I said at the beginning of the year, and a lot of people disagreed with me, that I wouldn't mind if we tanked this year so we can get the picks to shore up this garb defense. We clearly don't have the talent on that side of the ball to hold up when things get tough. If we get a new coaching staff, that would be even better.

Doesn't make a difference. Our defense will still be lousy as long as Marinelli is the D-Coordinator. There's only so much you can bring in terms of improvement in personnel each year. It's a cumulative deal and Marinelli has been here for his 5th season and we could argue that the defense has regressed. Yet guys go to other teams and are now producing there. After a while, it's not a personnel issue as much as it is a coaching and schematics issue.
