1. trade dlaw for high picks come deadline.
2. play young players including Taco even if he is sucking this year. play Collins at the correct position whatever that is.
3. let marinelli play prevent before he and garrett is fired at the end of the season.
4. let Tsmith rest his back if something is wrong. Protect Dak while this is happening as necessary by rolling out and going max protect.
5. play butler, noah brown and switzer more on offense.
6. give up on Twill since he is a progress stopper at this point and no a championship level wr2. trade if possible
7. cut progress stoppers like bell, morris, scandrick and wilber and bring in younger players from our practice squad or other squads.
Respectfully, I see your point, but this not an athlete's mentality. Once the team discerns a losing strategy, the winners will want out and the word will be out among players that the Dallas organization are losers. Jerry was once an athlete and a leader of men. The coaches all fit that description. I can't see this ever happening in a purposeful way.
It certainly is common practice among sports franchises to trade an established blue chip player for excellent prospects (HW). But this practice does not involve playing to lose. The wholesale changes in the 'Boys secondary are challenged by the obligatory learning curve, but there is reason to believe that a higher level of play is possible by the second half of this year, and going forward.
In the immortal words of Charlie Waters, "Ya gotta believe", and that is a large part of what makes sport great.
Theoretically, we could still finish 13-3. that doesn't seem very realistic at this time, but 9-7 sure the heck is, and we may be able to run the ball and play some defense by then, and would probably be in the post-season with that record.
Another notable quote comes to mind, from the mouth of a tireless competitor, one whose attitude we would want in all of our teammates -- Herm Edwards: "You play to win the game".
