The QB and offense shouldn't have to worry THAT much about the other team taking the lead with 80 seconds left. I think many of the QB's could score on our defense like that. Brady could definitely do it, heck if Dak was on an opposing team I believe he could do it against our Defense...easily.. it's not like Rodgers was a miracle worker, he's an amazing player but our Defense is swiss cheese mainly because of the scheme and some of the players like Jaylon Smith. It was an easy day at the office for Rodgers when he had the ball IMO.

Agree 100%. They shouldn't have to worry. But they do. And they will at least as long as Rod is here as the DC. and maybe beyond that as well, since this isn't a new problem. QBs have been doing that to us for 15 years after we score with more than a minute left.

Exactly. And it's this bend-don't-break mindset and lack of a legitimate defense that will bury this team every season. Every year. The offense is largely doing its job. In fact we're expecting them to do too much to cover for a weak unaccountable defense. It's embarrassing they're being coached this way and it's accepted by the organization. How can you expect the players on defense to collectively stand up and have some bite when they're constantly being coached to "hold on" and play so passively all game?

As much as we all agree there are personnel issues abound defensively, I believe better coaching and schemes would make a marked difference in performance.

Blaming QBs for scoring is misplaced. If it was easy to run the clock down and wait to score with 3 seconds left the Cowboys would probably not be in a tight game in the first place. They'd just score any time they wanted to score.

That the defense has been so unreliable for 15 years is the real issue.

Yes, yes, yes. Again, I wasn't blaming Dak. I was just stating a fact. When he scored, I knew we had lost. Maybe I shouldn't have said "he" lost the game. I should have said, "I knew the game was lost." Without question. I'd have bet my house on it.

When Dak scored, I had zero elation, zero celebration, zero excitement. The first and only thought I had was that he just lost the game. Even my outrageously optimistic wife could only muster a "maybe we can hold them to a FG."

This owner and coaching staff has taken all the joy out of being a Cowboys fan. And stop with the BS "go somewhere else" comments. It's been a lifetime of ups and down and I ain't leaving the brotherhood now or ever. I live in Patriot country for chrissakes, so if I wanted to be a bandwagoner I've had the best option on the planet.

It's just no fun watching this horse **** defensive scheme play out year after year, and no end in site because Jerry doesn't seem to care.

My wife looked at me after Dak scored and wondered why I wasn't excited, after GB scored I she saw why.

Same here. I knew EXACTLY what was going to happen and actually didn't even bother watching the rest of the game, except listening to the TV in the background
I actually texted a buddy saying that anything short of a TD here would be a shock.

I had a similar reaction. I don't think "he" (Dak) lost the game - he did his job. But I had no confidence in our defense vs Rodgers at that stage.

I've thought about this a lot. If Dak should fall down and run the clock to 30 seconds, you've got 3-4 downs to punch it in from 1 yard.

Do you trust your offense more to do that or your defense to stop Rodgers with 1:13?

You can plan on Rodgers beating you if you give the ball back to him with 90 seconds and a time out. Even Aikman was saying DO NOT GIVE THE BALL BACK TO RODGERS. You stop your run at the 1ft line and go from there.

Defense needs to do their job. It's not all Aaron Rodgers. Jared Goff would have done the same thing, Trevor Siemien also, and we'll probably see Brian Hoyer do it too

I sadly felt it too. I’m all for scoring UNLESS it’s Brady or Arod on the other sideline. I’m not blaming Dak he put the team on his back, but I knew we lost when he scored bc our defense can’t stop anything

I felt the same way. Even when they panned to Elliott and Dak celebrating I was thinking 'don't you guys realize what's about to happen?' It was a definite 3, and a probable 7.

Sideline, this is also why the 'Dez caught it play' probably wasn't as big a deal as we Cowboy fans make it out to be.

That said, in fairness, you took, what, 10 minutes off the clock and punched it in in the end. The rules are that Rodgers gets the ball back when you do that. Had we run it, forced them to use the time out, and given him the ball back in a worse situation, he still probably scores, and maybe still a TD. He's the best QB in the league for a reason. The guy is a badass.

You don't blame the QB for running the plays he's given by the dumb OC. You should know not to pass on second down when
Zeke is reeling off 8 yard runs and you keep running all 4 down to let the clock run or force them to call the last time out. Linehan
is a complete moron calling plays in game crunch time. That's the big reason he's no longer a head coach. Then not having Dak fall down
on the 1ft line and let the clock run off is also on the coaching. The coaches should all take the blame for this loss but, I'll bet they throw the team under the bus like always.

my thoughts as well, its really strange to see your team score the go ahead TD with about a minute left and be virtually certain they're about to lose

I blame the coaches for throwing that pass to Dez on 2nd & 2 more than Dak.

Dak is my remaining hope but he can only do so much

There wasn't a point in that entire game where I thought they were going to win it.

what was strange to me is I felt like the Cowboys were getting blown out the whole game, yet when I looked at the scoreboard they were typically ahead

felt like a mirage at best and it was
