Agreed and it had the head slap, well duh factor of why haven't we seen vampires in Alaska before?
The way they crawl around on the roofs and the language they speak is what gets me.

Just a little FYI, I happen to be reading Bram Stokers Dracula right now and it wasn't until the film Nosferatu in the early 1920's that vampires first became destroyed by light, the Count (in Stokers version) was not. Hope everyone enjoyed that little tid bit :D

I forgot about that movie but it was a good one (30 days of night). That demonic language they spoke definitely added some authenticity along with that odd drifter who ordered raw ground beef at the local diner. I know it's not Stoker's Dracula, but wasn't the character based off of Vlad the Impaler (History Channel) who was a prussian dictator who drank blood, etc.? Thought that was kinda cool too.

Motel Hell and Phantasm are classics in that Evil Dead/Shaun of the Dead mold...takes all kinda critters to make Farmer Vincent's fritters.

"Motel Hell"... Solid flick.

I'll tell ya from about 1978 to 1986, the quality (& volume) of horror films put out was extraordinary.

We could go to the theater just about every weekend and catch a horror flick... And this was before all the direct-to-DVD schlock that we get now-a-days. Even a underrated horror flick like Tobe Hooper's "Fun House" is light-years better than most of the direct-to-DVD stuff we now get.

Seven is not a horror film. If it was, probably be in my top 5 :D
Val Kilmer was considered for the role of John Doe. Thank goodness that never happened.

Kevin Spacey's actual screen time in Seven is brief but I thought his role was as impactful in that film as much as his role in The Usual Suspects. 1995 (or did those films debut in 1996?) was the year of Spacey. He won Best Supporting Actor for TUS. In my opinion, he could have been nominated in the same category for Seven also but that would have been a real stretch.

Spacey is a great actor in everything he does. American Beauty is another one.

I wanted to include John Carpenter's The Thing, and also the Exorcist, but in the spirit of limiting my choices to 5 these are mine...

1. Dog Soldiers
2. Drag Me To Hell
3. The Evil Dead - 1981 original
4. The Descent
5. The Last House on the Left - 1972 original

Also I like Cheesey Corny Horror Films or just wild FX effects.

Has anyone seen Lifeforce??? That Vampire babe could bite me anytime!! Wild FX made it hilarious!!

The Toxic Avenger-

Also can someone help me remember the horror film where Rosie Greer gets some evil doctor head added to his body. 2 heads one body. I saw as a kid and felt bad for Rosie Greer because he wanted no part being evil and the evil doctor did.

Both great choices. The Rosie Greer movie is The Thing With Two Heads, which also starred Ray Milland (as the other head!!!)

If we list the worst horror films of all time. Can I just say chick flicks in general? They are a horror to watch right? Same, but different?

Lifeforce was pathetic. The previews sold me on the movie though. The actress who played the queen vampire was the ONLY thing good about that movie...

...and the single reason why I have re-watched it about two dozen times over the years. :muttley:She had a killer body (pun intended).

Audiences get to see a pre-Star Trek The Next Generation Patrick Stewart also. Yep. He sucked too. :p

Off-topic Edit: I think I remember a poster questioning me about my 4-of-10 review score for Fantastic Four. If I recall correctly, they thought no film could be worse that FF. In my opinion, Lifeforce is a great example of a movie WAY worse than FF. And that is including the gorgeous young actress in the evaluation too.

3. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
2. Alien.
1. The Exorcist.

"Night of the Living Dead" in your top 5 huh?

I like NOTLD but I prefer the 1990 remake... But I get what the original means to the horror genre in general.
