How disillusioned with this team are you?

You can only be disillusioned if your expectations are higher than the real outcome. With the Jones family in charge and Jason as HC, I don't have high expectations. I assume somewhere around .500 football is the normal outcome and anything better is great. Every year its something that holds the team back and they never fix the real problems.

The rebuilding of the secondary should have been an indication this year would be questionable. Especially when they let go of several veterans at the positions they tried to fill with rookies.

Add to this the Zeke issue and the replacing 40% of the offensive line and any prediction about this being a Super Bowl year was a lot of blue sky.

The positive aspect to this is the rookies are playing and getting experience. The replacements in the offensive line are playing and getting experience. If this team goes on to 7-9 or 6-10 then they will is closer to the top in the draft. And even though there is Martin and Lawrence's contract coming up, the brain trust can find a way to get the dollars to hire one exceptional free agent. However, I think they are shopping the bargain basement in that realm, so don't count on it.

So this is not Marinelli or Linehan. Although I do think Garrett has hit his ceiling and can offer nothing more.

If the last twenty years of a nothing burger has taught us anything, this road to a Championship requires patience from the fan. While that seems like it is ignorant to think that way, consider this.

How long has Will McClay been here? And how many of those seasons has this team been in cap hell? McClay is the reason why the team is doing better - Zeke, Dak Offensive line - and with another year he can vastly improve this team.

Get Zeke straight with the league.
Resign Martin and Lawrence.
Have another successful draft. Get a real defensive tackle that eats up the middle.

And if it were me, I would use free agency to find a guard for the offensive line that is top notch. But that is me.

One last point.

The team has Dak.

We are already on the outside looking in. We must win the next 2 games, really the next 3 games if they are to get back on track and show why they are still a good team and can contend to get into the playoffs.

I think we could go .500 for a few weeks, but eventually we'll have to get on a run. We're probably looking at 9-7 at worse to get into the playoffs, and possibly 10-6 if some other teams also hit their stride. If we're 4-4 at the halfway point, 9-7 is doable and 10-6 is possible.

I've been reading about the Cowboys high level of talent on message boards for over a decade, as if it's across the board better than most teams. I've even seen it used as a defense for Jerry the GM, blaming coaches for wasting his elite roster.

Where is this superior talent? What unit of the Cowboys is head and shoulders above the rest right now? Green Bay didn't just win because of Rodgers. They ran the ball down our throats using a 5th round rookie RB. The Rams torched our defense as well - only settling for a crazy number of field goals kept that game close.

Defense has me worried. But it's been a odd year in the NFL. We just need to get into the playoffs and see where we are then. We still have 11 more games to play.

I think we are looking at things not turning around given our defensive deficiencies and the loss of Zeke.
Our once vaunted Offensive line has been less than stellar and has not allowed us to preserve/hide our defense and their deficiencies by consistently establishing the running game.
We may be able to salvage a winning record but could be left out of the Playoff picture.
Philly is playing well and seem to be on their way to winning the division outside of any major injuries.
There's still plenty of football and unknowns yet to come but unless we get on a serious hot streak, we may be on the outside looking in come Playoff time.

I'm optimistic.

Two of three losses were less than 7 points difference in the final score.

I expected the defense to struggle early this season. That seemed obvious going into training camp with all of the inexperienced players that have to play key roles.

If I had known Lee and Hitchens would not play a game together, I would almost have guaranteed 2 or 3 losses.

The head coach has lost this team. They are more involved in kneeling than playing football. They are arguing with
with Jerry and have lost focus. If Jerry could hire Parcells to come in and kick some a** they might get back on
track. Right now they are going to struggle for the next couple of months at least. They also may have packed it in
for the season. It's all on Dak's shoulder now.

I keep seeing this one thing being repeated over and over again. Like people want it to be true that a muffed punt before halftime really caused a loss moreso than a defensive collapse paired with a flat offensive in the second half.

Switzer's play changed momentum but that is it.

I'm always excited bout the season. I've been through great years and horrible years. I've enjoyed them all. Sure, i am always hopeful, but I saw a lot of what has been happening as a real possiblity. Too many questions on the OLine and the defense as a whole. I think if we get healthy, we can turn this around and make a run, if not, I look forward to next year. Like I always do........hopefully with a new coaching staff!!!

Since 2010, the Cowboys are 15-10 at home when they score 30 points. A lowly 60 percent winning percentage.

Easy schedule? Playoffs. Hard schedule? No playoffs.

Fugly. This team ignored it's offensive and defensive lines for years. Now, they let Ron Leary go, overdraft Taco, and here we are again.

We are 2-3.......and every team except the Eagirls have at least 2 losses........none of it matters if this team doesn't start stopping and getting off the field on 3rd down.......

But the Cowboys as bad as it looks record wise are still with the rest of the league. Or the NFC anyway.

This season will yield us a high draft pick like 2015 did.

I dont believe they'll ever be better than their peers whom they have to compete against so Imho, its going to take an extraordinary confluence of events to overcome the leadership at the top for the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl again.

Lets see, Falcons have lost two home games against bad teams. Packers lost their starting QB for the year. Seattle has no offense to speak of. New England has no defense to speak of and it's just about time for Gronk to blow a tire. Big Ben throws passes right at the other teams players. Lots of teams have lots of problems so I kind of feel right in the middle of all that.

I still have hope for the season, but it's hanging by a thread. We simply blew the last two games. Boys had both games and let them get away. Back-to-back home losses do not bode well. Hopefully, we'll get healthy on defense and take off, but I'll have to see it to believe it. Losing Zeke for six games (if we do) will damage the team psychologically as well as physically. Our upcoming schedule is brutal (minus the Whiners). The next 4-5 games will determine whether the team can turn things around and save the season.
