No such thing as thuggish culture gramps. You sure don't post like a financially secure person but a jealous one for sure.

You guys just don’t get how turned off we are with it. There’s no place for it sports beating your women like it’s talked about in your hip hop thuggish culture .But this generation supports and promotes it. Sad

If this is the future of the NFL we wonder why ratings are falling and so many are turned off by it. Much more needs to be done to clean it up.

It’s why my uncle who played was so turned off by the NFL and only watched College Football the last years of his life. I finally get it.

Yeah, because that all started in the recent generation due to "thug culture". I'm sure it never happened in the good old days.

I'd respect your comment more if you said what you actually wanted to say and stopped using code words.

If it did happen we didn’t know about it at Least while it was happening which makes a huge difference. You can’t react if your unaware.

And we certainly didn’t have a music culture which not only wrote lyrics and demeaned women but a generation which either turn a deaf ear or actually support the culture whether it’s indirectly or not. I’m saying exactly my intent.

I'm not a fan of Brady or the Pats and I agree that common sense indicates he was definitely involved in deflategate; however, I don't think it can be proven.

I get the feeling some fans of other teams are starting to believe that the NFL discipline process is corrupt after everything that has come out about these cases.
I hope you're right.

Like I said above there it is.... We know what he means... He’s lost any ounce of credibility he had which was not much. Funny how that statement comes from an old retired white guy. I like how he talks about how it’s turned everyone off. Who is “we” and does he think he speaks for everyone? As a 37 year old Italian/white man I find his comment to be complete and utter bull****. It’s people like him why everyone is so “pc”. We have to conform to his ideas? no sir we do not you have a choice to watch or not. Period end of story.

That's not true. He did not take probation. He took a pre-trial intervention which completely wiped his record clean. He has never been found guilty of a crime and has never even stood trial for a crime.

And while it's true he admitted guilt to the league, I assure you that conversation would have gone differently if the prevailing standard was "you can only suspend someone who was found guilty in court."
Rice had to do a bunch of court ordered steps and stay clean for a year or face jail time...... that is exactly like Probation before Judgement and it is a judicial outcome that would be covered by a guilty policy...... plus his admission makes it a moot point

And because Goodell is the one who screwed up on the first place (by giving Ray Rice 2 games DESPITE having seen the video), any sort of damning photo of bruises is all that`s needed to prove guilt in his eyes, despite that not proving how they occured. Had he not seen the elevator video, and it came out, the NFL could just have said `This is new information to us, and after review, Ray Rice is suspended indefinitely`, or whatever. And there would be no backlash from the fans, media and SJW because the NFL didn`t know about it. But he had seen it, and still only gave it 2 games....that`s where the outrage started. This is all his fault to begin with, everything he`s done since then is make it worse.
Goodell didn't screw up by giving Rice 2 games....... he was bound b the CBA and precedent to only give him 2 games max...... that was later determined in arbitration and Court......Rice got his salary back from the Ravens after getting cut

Goodell and the Ravens messed up by going back for more after the video came out instead of stating they were bound by the CBA...... the new DV policy wasn't in place yet

As I am sure its been mentioned in this thread, the NFL does not need a criminal charge or even an arrest to administer discipline under the personal conduct policy.

If Goddell thinks you did anything to "tarnish the shield" then he can suspend you....................how the NFLPA ever agreed to this, wow:facepalm:
The NFLPA didn't agree to it........ it was imposed on them by an Owners vote in 2015 after the Ray Rice fiasco....... the NFLPA had no say and actually tried to take it to court but lost..... the NFL claimed they had authority to act unilaterally through the CBA

Couldn't he have said, hey, this is an awful video, it needs a larger suspension? I doubt the PA would defend it. They're already a weak union

That is what he did with the 2nd indefinite suspension and he lost badly in Court

Did the same thing with Hardy and the 10 games and lost there too

There inlies the issue. This isn’t about Justice.

This is about presenting a perception to the Networks, Sponsors and fringe fans that the NFL is going to be tough on a socially sensitive offense like DV.

At least you're honest enough to admit the NFL's process is unjust. Why people advocate/support an unjust process is disturbing but to each their own.

The NFL is a business not a court of law.

If you don’t like the Policy then you don’t have to work for the NFL or fight the decision legally.

Not all company policy violations are breaking the law but still subject to disciplinary action.

It’s been easy for me to align with the NFL decision as I believe he did get physical with her. I’m not saying he beat her but I don’t for one second believe he’s innocent.

While it wasn’t a strong enough case to prosecute I believe there was enough evidence to find he violated the Personal Conduct Policy.

And besides some overly zealous Cowboy fans I believe most NFL fans ( at least I’ve talked to)feel while he might been getting a raw deal he Isn’t totally innocent.

The owners and players union gave Goodell this power and besides Jerry’s whining I haven’t heard from any other owners complaining about Goodell going too far.

Sure this policy was a reaction to the Rice debacle and I’m happy about it because otherwise these players would get away with it.

While I applaud the NFL owners for this policy , it doesn’t go far enough. Elliott had bad history at Ohio St. Jerry knew about it and took a chance anyway just like he did with Gregory. Wouldn’t be a bit surprised if Elliott slips up again and then will be booted. I sincerely hope we don’t resign Elliott to a second contract.

If the NFL starts banning these type of players then owners like Jerry will stop taking risk on them. It’s such a small percentage about 1%. We don’t need them for the league to flourish.

We need a Commissioner to be even tougher and ruthless than Goodell. Really clean the league up like the owners said was their intention. But the owners want this thug talent so they continue walking this tightrope while attempting to provide a perception they care but only to satisfy the money trail. Hypocrisy!!

- What evidence, specifically?

The circumstantial evidence the NFL ruled on.

The NFL doesn’t need a conviction beyond a reasonable doubt to administer a violation.

The NFL Report was very clear I thought.

Ugh. You know you can have it both ways, right? It IS possible to have a high standard of conduct while maintaining the due process of law .... We still live in America, right?

Roger, though everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, I don't think that this is a good time to be jumping on team's message boards, especially a Cowboy's forum, to defend why you did what you did. We don't care. Mr. Rozelle would be turning over in his grave, RIP Commish, if he saw how you single handedly destroyed everything he worked so hard to achieve. You've destroyed the NFL's fan-base and there's no chance in H-E-Double Hockey Sticks that you'll ever gain my respect. Please go back to Crapsburgh's message board where you're loved for rigging every game that they've ever won.
