Deion Sanders fires back at Tony Romo's comment about his tackling **merged**

I

disagree on, Deion cost us superbowls imo, because he made enough money that cost us the services of multiple starters and backups for us. That's one of the reasons we went downhill so fast

We were on the downside by then. Free agency depleted our roster and the rest of the league took our coordinators. Greenbay was the next team up they paid their dues just like we did and added Reggie White to get them over the hump. We weren't gonna beat them anymore.

It's true. I'll never bash Deion for that reason alone. Kevin Smith tore his Achilles and Deion came in mid season and helped us get that 5th SuperBowl.
And his contract prevented the Cowboya from resigning a half dozen starters that contributed to all three Super Bowls. That contract was a main contributor to the destruction.of a.dynasty that should have lasted another decade.

Sanders didn't tackle and made more business decisions.on the field than a Fortune 500 CEO. Jerry bought a Super Bowl in 1995 and from 1996 to 2002.the team was a collection of reject mercenariea and 7th round draft picks.

I think the real reason Deion and his new Count Chocula hair are pissed off is that he has been on TV for a decade now and after 8 weeks Tony has already passed him in popularity even though he a much better NFL career.

....and Tony didn't win the big one.
Deion didn't win one either because it's a team game. He never would've won a SB if he remained on the Falcons and didn't move on to the 49ers or the Cowboys. Evidence that you can be an all-pro - even the best at your position all time - but still need a balanced team around you to actually win one.

We got Deion right as the salary cap was instituted. We lost guy after guy after guy after Deion signed, and I knew that was what was going to happen. That's why I didn't want hi..on the team. I can't remember them all that we lost but here's a few: gogan, Gesek, stepnoski, stone, Vanderbeek, Kenny the shark, Norton, j. Jones, Brown, Marion, smith, HArper, 2 DTs, galbraith, and an assortment more. Edwards. That's what led to the downfall of talent, and then there's the jimmy factor. But make no doubt, Deion was good but overpaid.

Exactly. It's not like he won the SB with the Deadskins.

Deion is in my top 5 for most exciting players i've ever seen play the game, just a tremendous player. Next to Bo Jackson he has to be the greatest athlete of my generation, a two sport phenomenon.

Sadly he appears to not be a very nice guy (various news stories), although we are never truly privy to the personal lives of athletes and entertainers. In this mini dispute with Romo he comes off as being overly sensitive and very childish, he could have shrugged it off as a small joke, said something kind of funny, and left it at that, but he didn't.

Now it's just a bad look for him.

Man that dude could ball though, and he took crap from no one.

By the way, Tony has been getting almost universal praise for how he is calling games this season, and i find this very interesting.

He's personable of course, but he talks strategy and 'hard core' football almost all game and yet.. he's popular!!

Who would have thought it, instead of assuming the football watching nation would never be interested in just, you know, straight up football, we've been given a steady diet of fluff nonsense and 5 channels of the yuck yuck boys for pre-game shows and post game 'analysis'.

Maybe, just maybe, some smart TV guy might think.. 'you know, maybe we should just talk seriously about the game, i think maybe people will watch'..

One can only hope.

Marino started 18 playoff games. Romo six and he was pretty mediocre in most of them.

You have to be pretty football simple minded to not see that there were lots of dynamics for Romo not having more playoff success then he did.

The only game Romo really ticked me off was the 1 legged RG3 win and your in game in Washington.

Tony Romo and Deion Sanders are two of my Top 5 favorite football players of all time (Herschel Walker, Darren Woodson, and Michael Irvin are the others) so I'm not "Team Romo" or "Team Deion" BUT Deion comes across as extremely petty in all this.

Or that's what I assume. It's hard to get a real feel for Deion's facial expressions with all that Botox in his forehead.
