Are you still a Garrett supporter?

Everyone knows my stance. Wanted him gone for years. Nothing has changed, other than the fact that I have to live with it.

Here is something I heard on the radio today.....

Yesterday in the Rams Texans game the score was 9-7 Rams at the half and Clowney was a one man wrecking crew and screwing everything up. They couldn't even run their offense. Then at halftime McVay said that's on me, and switched the protections, and started running the ball away from him and boom!

Amazing, a rookie 31 year old coach knew enough to make adjustments to help his team, but we have tenured coaching staff that have no clue!!

Not a big fan of the Ginger. I think I have called him .500 Ginger to which some have pointed out his is slightly above .500..just not in all categories.

I will not go as far as blame him for everything under the sun. I think the Players have some responsibility. I think the Ownership holds some responsibility as well. Then there are some
times when we just play a team that is flat out better than us.

HOWEVER....I would like to have a different Head Coach.
I just don't know of any coaches who are currently available that really get me very excited.

I am not of the ilk that thinks the whole anybody would be better scenario is viable. I have seen it proved otherwise in the past whether it comes to players or coaches in the NFL.

I don't think we are going to get a current Great Head Coach.. if they are great, doubt they would leave where they are at aka Bill B.

I do not want another retread ala Jeff Fisher.

I do not really want a coach who normally has a very good offense who does not use the run and normally has a bad defense aka Sean Payton. We are just now starting to use the run after ignoring it for years.

I would like a young hungry coach, but with that you are not getting someone who has the exp and we have to worry about him getting the exp on the job and you don't know if that is going to pan out ala Ginger.

So...who is out there that is young, Hungry, not a retread, but has some good exp but who is also available.

That is the question.

Find him and I am on board.

Change for the sake of change with someone who might just be comfortable with Jerry but does not inspire winning (Fisher)...why even bother.

But again that does not make me a ginger supporter...as I would drop his redhead off at the nearset bus stop if there was a coach available that I liked to come in and be the next HC of the Dallas Cowboys.

Of course. There are coaches out there I like better, but not a ton of them, and not many of those are guys I think would work well with Jerry, which is a huge issue in Dallas.

With a few notable exceptions, I almost never switch positions on any coach based off of gameday play calls. For one, fans massively overweight the importance of what happens on gameday, and for whatever reason don't every consider that the communication is networked across the entire staff for both offense and defense. There are a lot of smart people on every team in position to give input on game plans and play calls.

For yesterday's game...a lot of people are pretty worked up about the play of Chaz Green and about the staff not giving him more support. I expect as the week goes on here, we're going to get more info about how much help he was actually given. Both in terms of extra blockers, and in terms of what they were trying to do getting the ball out faster and in rolling or running away from that left edge pressure. It's pretty obvious they didn't just ignore the issue on the left side. I do think they were also concerned with Cooper over there, given that he stalled two drives with holding calls and was getting beaten at times himself. There were probably limits to what they felt they could do over there with personnel (note, Frederick, too, took some responsibility for blowing protections after the game. That was just him covering for a teammate, but there's more to what the team was supposed to do to adjust to that pressure than we know right now).

What yesterday reinforced for me that I do hold the staff responsible for was two things. Primarily, it ticks me off that we went into the season with a gaping hole at backup MIKE and nobody saw it in camp. Jaylon cannot play and should not be active. I don't know how that fact was hidden throughout the preseason, and I don't understand why they didn't address the problem before the Rams exposed it. Somebody blew it, and that goes from the position coach on up.

The other thing I wasn't happy about with the coaching yesterday was they kept Dak in down three scores with 5 minutes to play and with him needing to throw every down and under a blindside assault. We're lucky he didn't get hurt, and there was no chance of winning that game given that we couldn't protect the passer and couldn't stop their offense.

That said, I also don't think the sky is falling in Dallas just because we're 5-4. It sucks, but 10-6 does probably get us a WC berth. As bad as we looked yesterday, we looked just that good against a better team the week before. And I have no doubt we win that game yesterday with Lee and Smith in the lineup. If they're not out long, I still like this team as a WC contender until Elliott gets back. And after that, who knows.

IF you only knew how foolish this statement makes you look:

Peyton went 7-9 each of the last 3 seasons despite having Drew Brees. If he was doing that in Dallas no one on this board would be singing his praises.

Was never 100% on the Red wagon but last year I changed my tune esp after the GB in GB...I changed my tune until the playoffs and will never get on the Red Wagon again. Adjustments--adjustments--you talking about adjustments...the sad thing is he will get another pass.

Did you have them at 8-8 before Tyron and Lee became damaged goods and Zeke was suspended for 8 games?

For the record, they were 5-3 before that, so the injury/players missing excuses lose their teeth. But it's nice to see they're starting up already.

I like the way he says he approaches things.

We do have a good amount of talent, and the cap looks to be in great shape going forward. Better than any other time in his tenure, and enough to sign some serious talent as well as our own, and still be fine for Dak.

I just don't think he's very creative. I get the feeling that when chips are down, he tries to just get the team to execute more efficiently, rather than get creative and put the guys in a position to succeed.

On that same line, he needs to do more to adjust when things aren't working, or we're just getting plain beat at a position. You just can't let your Tackle getting beat all day affect your game for 4 quarters. You won't win many big games like that.

I like our team, and I like the way our talent matches up with our cap. But, I don't know if Jason is the right man for the job.

I'd be very tempted to bring in another HC this off-season to work with this young team while getting more talent this off-season. Start a new chapter. But, it'd depend on who's available obviously. I wouldn't replace him with just anyone for the sake of it.

And look what he is doing this year with some defensive help.

He is light years better than JG on the offensive side of the ball as well.

JG and Linehan let ONE player wreck their entire offense.

Check your history; he was given the head coach position because he led our offense as OC to the 2nd best offense in the entire NFL, he'd been a finalist for head coach one year and then Jerry had to make him the highest paid assistant in the NFL because he had two head coaching offers on the table. Jerry didn't want to lose him, right or wrong.
This is true....but that shows the lack of competency by our GM. Tony Sparano was a BIG part of the Cowboys on offense....and the offense struggled the moment he left. But again...a competent GM has to KNOW what he is looking at.

I believe the 2 teams that "wanted" him were the Ravens and the Falcons. Well the Ravens have won a Super Bowl since "passing" him up. And the Falcons have appeared in the Super Bowl. The Cowboys? We have 1 playoff victory.

I'm curious to get a read on how many fans still have faith that Jason Garrett is the right man for the job or how many fans are ready to move on?

Just your own opinion on what you would like to see happen going forward, and not what you expect Jerry Jones to do.

I'm interested to get a read on how opinions and overall confidence stands at this point.[/QUOT

The problem is he is being sold to us as some sort of Jimmy disciple in training which is so far from the truth it’s not funny. Jimmy instilled discipline and expected and demanded results. Garrett NEVER adjusts in game. He’s more interested in effort, relying on cliche’s on t-shirts to motivate guys to execute no matter the circumstance. He is not an X’s and O’s Kind of coach- as Tony Romo so aptly pointed out. He’s a culture coach and that only gets you so far.

Payton's issues have been a lot like Garrett's. Gets too pass happy and has a bad defense, he does not go more than .500.

Funny how he gets a better defense and a more balanced offense, he wins.

And take a look at how that front office and number cruncher GM have failed to give him talent. Compared to Mickey Loomis, Jerry Jones looks like Bill Polian.

A fair and balanced take. Not to either extreme, but saying what need be said.
