Dak's leash next year - How long?

I think he's got all of next year, unless we add some QB talent to the roster. You don't pull the plug after 6 games unless you feel like you've got something that might make you better. You think that they'd be willing to hand the reins to Cooper Rush after 6 games next year? Especially since the odds of losing all 6 are slim, so Dak might not play great but if he's good enough to get the win he'll continue to start. He probably even gets the year after that unless the wheels fall off completely. Garrett hitched his wagon to Dak, telling Jerry that we didn't need Romo made sure of that.

He has all of next year. Mind you, he wasn't bad this whole season. He got bad the Falcons game when Tyron didn't play. Ever since that game....he was terrible. Dak was on pace to have a better year this year than he had last year.

That's not to say he's flawless. But I think its important to at least give him a chance to have a whole season. He's earned that. He had one great year and one down year. You give the guy 2 years to learn the QB position?

I think that depends on what other QBs are on the roster. He's not getting benched in week 7 for Cooper Rush.

I think he gets the entire season. In fact, I'd highly doubt the Cowboys even entertain the thought of bringing in any competition.

Prescott will get the 2018 season to prove which guy he truly is 2016 or2017 version.

And if he flames out, the Cowboys will be sitting atop the 2019 draft, back in the quarterback market.

If the Cowboys add a top-notch QB next year, then his games will depend on how he does. If he struggles for more than 2-3 games in a row, we could see a change. If they don't get a QB, not only do I think it will be a mistake, but it will set this franchise back no telling how long. This is why I wanted QB competition with Romo all those years. Until you're going to NFC Championship games, you should search for your QB.

We are facing 5-8 years of streaky and teasing QB play with enough other talent on the field to be in playoff contention ..........can you say KC Cheifs and Alex Smith
meanwhile the window closes on our Oline and Zeke's contract, Dez might be lucky and be let out.........

I hope I'm proved wrong, really do, but I dont buy the excuse of 8 sacks in the Falcon's game, his play has been subpar all year.......Aikman during his rookie year once got pounded for 11 sacks by the Eagles under Buddy Ryan

Every player is going to be another year older next season and another year into their contracts...we shouldn’t waste any more time.

I would hope that Dak,at minimum,has a true QB competition in camp. I don’t think that’ll happen though. I think it’ll take a few horrible games.
