News: BST: Jones Says Coaching Changes Coming to Cowboys

I believe in process and have seen it work. Players work hard for Red something has to come.
I think they work hard for $$ and they have some players who are team guys who want to win. However I think any respect for Garrett has worn its self down immensely esp. after this year. The players know who is really coaching the team and who they have to answer to and it's not Garrett. As long as they keep playing hard, they know they will be well paid and overpaid in some circumstances.

Curious why you guys think Garrett's years are more frustrating than Campos? Again this is not me supporting Garrett. Just that the Campo years were the absolute worst for me. 3 straight 5-11 seasons, salary cap hell, limited talent on the roster, less draft picks, the team had zero direction and HC was a joke.

Because it was only 3 years? We are staring at probably 9 years of Garrett, at least.

And in the end, the results will only be slightly better.

You really got things twisted. Did I ever say I do not want Garrett fired in this thread? Did I ever say I do not want Jones to hire another coach or that this is the best he can do?

But you wanted Campo and Wade fired

Did you think someone else was going to hire their replacement? lol

Here comes the flood of changes!

Great so you want him fired? Then was is there to talk about?

Agreed with the less years. But Garrett has at least rebuilt the roster and added talent. Obviously he has not done enough with what he has acquired. I will acknowledge Campo was handicapped with the salary cap and Jerry in those years was worse than he is now. I guess for me it is really that era of the organization and Campo did not do anything to improve it.

People overrate this whole notion that Garrett has rebuilt the roster. Sure, he might have had a hand in it, but better personnel decisions seemingly started when McClay became more involved. I think those willing to give Garrett more of a pass harp on things like player personnel decisions and "culture" because there is no defense for the lack of on the field success.

Campo's reign was short and fruitless. Garrett's will be long and fruitless. That's why it's more frustrating. Further, the evidence is strongly leaning towards the conclusion we need a change and the Jones' family is largely blind and stupid to that reality.

Because with Garrett there is no end in sight. I knew Camp's regime would be short lived. And not even Jerry could sell 5-11 to the fan base.

Wade Phillips, would've been an ideal coach had Jerry allowed him to do his own thing. Unfortunately, Jerry didn't allow him to hire his own offense, so Wade didn't care anymore. He cared enough to take a Denver Broncos team to and win the Super Bowl though. While we're unfortunate to have the great, the outstanding coaching of Jason Garrett with two amazing appearances in the playoffs.

I certainly hope that Marinelli is replaced by Del Rio, or Marvin Lewis.

We are going to bring a new waterboy coach for 2018. Cant wait.

You are stuck on the issue being Garrett, which it is not. The last several coaches did not succeed and all flamed out. You realize Jerry is hiring the next HC right? And you think he will change this time? Why? Blind hope? If not then really why would he change now?

The point is firing Garrett would signify that Jerry Jones was willing to change.

Father Garrett has been in Jerry’s ear, along with Lacewell (outside the Parcells years) since 1997 in a MAJOR position, though he started his career in a scouting position during the JJ era.
He’s managed to get both his sons playing on this team and back as coaches. He is supposedly the guy that fed the idea to Jerry that Drew Henson was the next Aikman,

What you consider him not succeeding is a major part because he has guys like the Garrett’s and Lacewell stroking his ego and feeding the beast. Lacewell is the reason this team originally brought in Kiffin.

Jerry has "changed" several times with similar results which is ultimately what I am driving at. Trust me I am all for change when it makes a positive difference. I do not have much faith in Jerry to make the correct call. This does not mean I do not think or support change. Just that I do not think it will make much of a difference and the records of the last several coaches support my opinion. I think Parcells came close to saving this franchise but ultimately bailed too soon.

And what I’m getting at is Jerry hasn’t changed at all regarding the guys giving him advice and stroking his egos, including the Garrett family.

The other changes were ‘superficial’ and all go back to him and his beef with.Jimmy Johnson. The guys that feed his delusion are still here.

Garrett was almost good enough and might have been good enough if he had stayed completely out of the offense.

Wade and Campo were worse.

Wade was good at X and O stuff on defense but terrible as the Head Guy. Those teams had unchecked egos despite minimal accomplishments.

I think Garrett was part of the group that got McClay promoted and helped keep Jerry's influence on the draft somewhat in check.

I thought after this season he should be replaced; although it could get worse considering Jerry would be hiring the new HC.

I thought there was at least a chance of replacing Linehan but Stephen does not like to throw away money so he likely wouldn't push Jerry or Garrett to change.
