The Eagles stand as a testament against the excuse making for Garrett. They lost all the important pieces on their team this year and they are still in the Super Bowl. Good coaches overcome injuries. Bad coaches make excuses.
I'll offer that our back ups aren't as good as Philly's. Still there are concerning signs that this year should be answered.

His pride in a freaking hated division rival is mind boggling and disgusting. That's like an A&M fan rooting for UT or vice versa, or the Yankees rooting for the Red Sox. Makes no sense

With Foles' success, it makes me wonder how good Wentz really is. But the main concern would be that Pederson may end up being an incredible coach. And that is a bigger cause for concern than having a good franchise QB. The way the Eagles were able to go right thru the Vikings defense with ease was incredible.

jerry has already won three superbowls and is in the hall of fame and make huge amounts of money winning is not really at the top of his list now

Did you watch Jerry's "A Football Life"....?

I liked when Jerry said something to the effect of, Most people would be shocked to find out just how much money I'd be willing to pay if it guaranteed me another super bowl victory...

While, like most rich people, money is certainly a priority in Jerry's life. However, I don't doubt he wants to win. I believe he'd pay double the salary cap if it guaranteed him victory. The only way, he'll ever be able to prove he was right, is to win again. He knows this, & desperately wants to. At least in my opinion.

The idea that winning isn't important to Jerry is nonsense. He's been winning his whole life. Nothing he values more.

Unlike many members of Cowboys Nation who are having a hard time stomaching the Eagles making it to the Super Bowl, Jones said he was impressed with Philly’s ability to win despite the injuries they sustained, including their starting quarterback Carson Wentz. “I’m impressed to understand the challenge it is to adjust and come up with a different way to use different personnel and win the games,” Jones said. “They did it and it’s worthy of recognition. I don’t want to get into favorites, but I’m really proud that we have an NFC East team in there. That does make the difference. We’ve played them twice and know what kind of defense they’ve got. I wish them well.”

And addressing Jason Garrett’s status, Jones was asked if his head coach is on the “hot seat” after a 9-7 season and missing the playoffs for the fifth time as a full-time head coach. Jones understood the question, but didn’t exactly agree. “He’s not on my hot seat,” he said. Jones reminded the group that Garrett isn’t far removed from the NFL Coach of the Year after the 2016 season and said he hopes Garrett can win that again next year, knowing what kind of team success that would signify.

Why didn't the media ask this followup question: Pederson in his 2nd season made it to the Super Bowl with injuries to key players. JG in 2016 with a fully healthy team couldn't even win one playoff game. How is JG winning Coach of the Year relevant when he couldn't even win one playoff game as the number one seed with a healthy team?

Give it time! As another poster stated somewhere in this forum that the Cowboys are a couple years behind when it comes to listening to the fans in the forum!

Been that way for several years now.
Me too! Ive actually purged and disposed of most of all my Cowboy jerseys and hats only have two t shirts left. Got rid of them in 2012 when Romo choked away the Commander win and your in game. I was debating on buying a Dak or Elliott jersey last year and thought I would wait one more year to see how they do and some things just never change. I will never waste my money on any more stuff with this team.

Your right! Pederson is an excellent coach and creative to adjust to help Foles be more effective. I think Foles is a system guy but I think Wentz is the real deal. Wentz doesnt need that read option with the RB for him to carve up a good defense. It just makes me angry and sick to my stomach that Philly has put together what very well could be the makings of a dynasty with that defense and Wentz. If Dallas is going to have a chance at wrestling the division away from philly over the coming years, I just dont see it happening because Philly has more talent along with better coaching.

If you watch All-22 on Vikes vs. Philly...Kellen Moore could have had a field day against the Vikings. Pederson completely outclassed Zimmer with schematics and playcalling.

I would like to think the owner of the franchise has a competitive spirit versus a division rival.

But then again, I am not a rich old man who hangs in the same circles.

If so, great. I just don't want anyone to ever post that they think that Jerry Jones actually cares and will be all motivated to win.

He doesn't care. Has not cared for a long time. He cares even less now that he has a gold jacket.

Now, all he wants is a legacy for his family.
The only 3 reasons he would care to excel in the playoffs would be more face time for him in front of the camera, revenues for the stadium/team, and stroking his ego that he (himself) finally built a winning team. Won't happen with his current FO/HC.

Another indicator that you're, again, clueless. I can't stand Jones' ineptitude any more than anyone else but carry on there, Trial O Tears. You incessantly whine on a DALLAS COWBOYS message board (for literally years) yet play the I wish everyone would boycott the team card. The irony would be funny if it wasn't so wholly rapt in stupidity.

Again, lead the way and disappear. Or travel to California for another training camp. Whatevs.
I threw a ' like' on yer' post for the 'trial O tears' as that phrase quickly dredged up recollection of the 1836-1837 'trail of tears' which in turn reminded me of other things altogether completely different,,,o_O

I watched the same show.

I must have missed the long heartfelt commentary from the bottom of his heart that suggests that there is nothing he values more than another title.

All I saw was Jones talking about the franchise like it was a family heirloom more than his thirst to win another title.

He has already hit the pinnacle, he has his gold jacket, which in his eyes validates him as a "football man", which is the main reason he could not work it out with Johnson in the first place.
