Will this end it for you or no?

"I think where we are unanimous," Mara told ESPN on Tuesday, "[are] plays like the Dez Bryant play in Green Bay, going to the ground, the Calvin Johnson play from a couple of years ago. I think all of us agree that those should be completions. So let's write the language to make them completions."

Back to my post on Page 2:

"The competition committee is currently reviewing the rule. If they are indeed leaning towards revising the rule to take away the going to the ground requirements, then those controversial catches would be catches under any revised rule that would take away the going to the ground requirement. The reporter here is obviously playing on the uninformed outrage from fans who think all those plays should have been catches but were not under the rules at the time."
Mara is likewise, a person who thinks those catches should have been catches but weren't by the rules at the time. How are people not understanding this?
And again, show me where the NFL admits that they were wrong on those catches at the time.

All i'm gonna say is it didn't take an expert to know that ? I think it was obvious

Not saying we would have won the game though

But that should have counted

"The Jesse James play, I think should be a completion," Mara said, "but I'm not sure we're unanimous on that. But plays where guys seem to make the catch and then make a football move with it, I think most of us agree those should be completions. Now it's just a question of coming up with the right language."

Doesn't sound to me he is saying the call was wrong.

This is why it should have been a catch under the previous catch rule. Mara is acknowledging the Dez and Johnson plays as ones where they "seem" to make the catch and a football move. It should not have been overturned unless there was irrefutable evidence that he didn't make a football move.

And note the title of that article:
"Committee says Bryant '14 playoff play should be a catch in the future"

I really don't understand the stubbornness. Imagine Aaron Rodgers quick snapping, catching a defensive player 1 yard from the sideline on 3rd and 4, drawing a flag for 12 men on the field for an automatic first down and free play. The rules committee reviews it and thinks "this wasn't the intent the 12 men on the field penalty so we need to change it". Does that mean the officials were wrong for throwing the flag in the past? Nope, it doesn't.

All I can say is thank goodness for the ignore button. An underused feature for some around here.

Also. Dez clearly caught it. Glad they finally admitted it, unfortunately does nothing for us now.

People get so invested and dug into an argument or point of view that they will ask for specific things to counter their point, when they get what they ask for they move the goal posts and ignore the evidence in front of their faces rather than admit that they were wrong. Sometimes they will also argue a point in minutia of semantics that when you argue a general point and they understand the general point they continue to argue the very small point that boils down to a word or two to prove they are right vs wrong.

After someone asks for some info and you give it to them and they continue the arguing for no other reason than to argue...

After a while of doing this you just have to walk away and chalk it up to not being able to change their minds because they are not willing to change their minds no matter the evidence presented to them.

Walking away, not wasting anymore time on it.

And you are wise in using the ignore button.
I wish I could at times.

Pettigrew had Hichins face mask
Please dude, we’ve all seen it and if you’re being unbiased you know what it was. Hitch could have been called for more plenty more on that play, he commited about 3 different forms of PI.

Point being, it was 3 years ago and if it was the other way around I guarantee there would still be 100 page threads on it, like the Dez call, of people whining and crying about it. Don’t forget to throw in the obligatory conspiracy theory along with it. I wonder if Lions fans are this bad?
