Has he really said this about himself? I know he says it about every player.

I believe he said it again in this same interview, but I'm too lazy to check. Either way, he says it frequently. It gets pointed out and sourced just about every time somebody says he never does.

He's becoming a caricature.

If he said...

1)"Dak is great", there would be TONS of people criticizing.
2)"Dak needs work", there would be TONS of people criticizing.
3)"No comment", there would be TONS of people criticizing.

Notice a trend? A pattern?

Body of work certainly has merit, and Garrett is culpable, without a doubt. That said, how many coaches would have consistent success working around Jerry?

I’ve consistently said the issue with losing the playoff games has been with the defensive personnel. Pretty simple. Pretty tough to dispute.

And I don’t think the team was a playoff team between 2010-2012, so yes, I think it’s very reasonable that a team misses the postseason for reasons other than coaching and so don’t think your “almost 75%” number is significant.

Do you have any actual specific criticisms? Or is it all just annecdotes about coaching trainees and teams that weren’t very good not producing above their ability?

If the teams were not very good starting from 2010, and were not expected to produce above their ability, ie reasonable to not make the playoffs...............why was Wade fired?

If the roster was non-playoff caliber, why was Wade blamed yet Garrett is not?

And please don't respond with this "they quit on Wade" crap, that Green Bay game was the only game Wade lost by 20+ points while Garrett lost 4 games by 20+ points last season.

What on Earth are you talking about?

The Garrett fan boys...............mainly Idigt and two other dudes on this site...............constantly say "coaching is not the reason we are losing" to explain Garrett's laughable inability to even make the playoffs (he misses them roughly 75% of the time).

Its pretty much a last ditch effort by them to prop up Clappy, but nobody really takes their arguments seriously any more.

Don't know why this is controversial. The QB isn't even close to good enough. Not accurate, lacks pocket presence, doesn't see the field, can't make all the throws, erratic mechanics.

I'd be concerned if our head coach didn't think he has to improve everywhere.

Welcome to the Prescott era.

How is it the team went from 1-7 to 13-3 again?

And Wade won a playoff game the year before Garrett took over.................oh that's right, we are judging Garrett off regular season wins now.

You are still my bro Idgit, but I am going to break you of this delusional devotion you have to Coach Clappy........its my mission on this board:grin:

Wade’s team was fired for being 1-7 with a downward pointing arrow. Pretty obviously.

Garrett’s been retained for generally having the team playing to its ability while working with the scouts to improve the team’s talent level. Which is evidenced by the regular season wins and the 12 and 13 win seasons.

Both those teams lost in the playoffs to a comparable GB team. Neither overproduced, but neither were they unprepared to play. We’re not good enough defensively to consistently beat good QBs.

The obvious path to improvement is to spend resources on defense. Fans blame the coaching because it’s easy. But when you ask for examples, they don’t cite specifics and basically resort to ‘it’s taken too long,’ not considering that even guys like Bill Parcells ran into the same issues in Dallas. It’s been the ability to assemble sufficient talent under Jerry, and not the coaching.

Regular seasons wins count too. You can’t just ignore them because they don’t fit your agenda.

Wade got fired for 1-7, not for 2009. But his issue was that the good team he inherited was getting worse, not better. They weren’t competitive.

We can be bros and disagree about what the problems in Dallas are.

Oh Idgit, you have given this same speech a thousand times..................don't you have anything new to defend Clappy with?

I wonder why 5 or 6 head coaches every year get fired in the NFL, they don't get to use the "not enough talent" excuse. That seems to be specific to Garrett.

My agenda is qualifying for the playoffs on a regular basis to increase the chance of advancing and winning a title.

Missing the playoffs 75% of the time doesn't fit with my agenda...........................you are right.

And if regular season records is all you got left to defend Clappy with, my job of breaking you of this evil curse he put on you is getting easier;)
