Moving on from Beasley

Don’t remember Switzer and Beasley on the field together but I’m sure they had a few plays together. Saw them working on it in training camp. Drafting Switzer wasn’t about moving on from Beasley who had a career year in 2016. The TEs we drafted in the second round weren’t about moving on from Witten, it was about adding another element to the passing game. That never worked out. Switzer didn’t do much at all in the passing game last season, only having 6 catches for 41 yards. Although he had one great return he struggled in the return game as well. The jury is still out on him.

I don't disagree the jury is still out. These guys are here to replace though. Especially Switzer. And if Beasley does what he did last year? He's good as gone.

I didn't say no one would trade for him, I said I didn't see Beasley with 1 year left on his contract bringing a 3rd in value in trade, which is what your scenario required. Try arguing against what I actually say instead of a straw man.

Beasley should get over what he is getting now in free agency. Hard to say how much, with how nutty WR contracts have been. I expect he brings in a 4.

And you may not have noticed, but churning players for comp picks is obviously a big part of the strategy around here.
I said Beasley and a pick or two later in the draft
Rather get something now that we can use this year than a possible comp pick in two years

Not everyone we drafted was drafted to replace someone. We’re trying to add to what we have in some areas. If Beasley has the kind of year in 2018 that he had in 2017 he’s only going to be as good as gone if Switzer steps up and produces. Beasley is one of the best chain movers we have especially on third down. After the career year he had in 2016 he saw a lot of double coverage last season. If it was up to some on this board all our receivers would be gone.

I don’t want to see Beas cut but for me it’s a #’s game at WR on our roster. If the front office doesn’t have the fortitude to cut Dez someone needs to go to get younger and better. T Will is a loss $ wise if we cut him and we need bigger outside WR’s anyway. I just really don’t want to go into the season with the same 5 WR’s in offense. If we have to go from Beas to Switzer in the slot to get an upgrade at #2 WR I’m willing to do it...and the 3+M saving certainly doesn’t hurt the cause.

Although it’s clearly not going to happen...

The small shifty guys out of the slot run a lot of option routes. That's why they get open.

But doing that means that they and the QB have to read things the right way. Dak isn't there yet.

The guys in NE have been doing it a very long time. And is really what sets Brady apart from almost every other QB. His football IQ is off the charts. He basically knows what the defense is going to do before they do it.
To a point. I'm talking about designed plays. Many of which require a safety or lb having to cover a slot receiver or running back coming out of the backfield.

Having a slot receiver is a nickel or dime situation. Meaning teams match up with a corner usually.

Having a bigger guy playing the slot could give you a run advantage if you choose.

You can prove that fans don’t like Beasley because he’s a hard worker? Lol

Yeah. I can look at the lazy fans who worship lazy players like Dez who can't be bothered to learn how to run proper routes, and they are the same people whining about Beez, and even Witt.

like I said..Dooley never really held him accountable running disciplined routes.

he's a grown *** man. he's perfectly capable of holding himself accountable, and if he were truly an elite player, he would take pride in his craft and do so.

OF COURSE...that should be an unspoken thing. But we aren't paying position coaches to clap and stand around . Its a 2 way street. YES..its on the player...but the coach is suppose to make a difference as well. I am not so sure Dooley made the team better...especially Dez.

When Dez ran lazy routes...I never recall Dooley calling him on it..NOT ONCE. Somebody other than JG has to buck up to Dez. Me thinks someone did...and I think it was Sanjay Lal. Hence...the route running suddenly. Count me as skeptical.

Ahh ok, so now it’s “whining”. That’s fairly broad and easy to generalize. I thought you were going to show people who explicitly were offended by Beasley’s hard work.

I’d wager, personally, that a handful of fans are disappointed in how easily Beasley was neutralized, and/or recognize his one impressive season as an outlier. I love the guy, but it’s hard to really champion one 800 yd season in a career.

Dak had PTSD after that Atlanta game..for real...He wasn't right after that. That said,he needs to recapture his accuracy and decision making ability that made him great in his Rookie year.

BTW...I WOULD LOVE Mike White the QB from Western Ky..late in like round 5.

Id move on from him as early as this year. Let Switzer take his spot. I want a slot receiver that can go deep...

they should be worshipping his name, considering he made their half competent bus driver look almost all pro his rookie year

Actually, with skeletor in charge, we pretty much are paying coaches to stand around and clap. If we weren't, clappy squirrel wouldn't have a job as head coach and neither would his band of nuts.

Yeah? You think during the off-season

Or the opposite. Our new qb maximized his limited abilities after going undrafted and underwhelming over years with Romo.

And I like Beas. Sounds like you’re projecting quite a bit to me.

he didn't have to overwhelm with Romo. Romo made everyone better, including making Dez look competent and Laurent Robinson look like a #1 receiver. He did what was needed, a bit extra and an unusual weapon, but wasn't really necessary. Instead, he made a half competent bus driver almost look like an all pro in 2016
