They like their quarterback Webb as well.
I live 15 minutes from Prosper and am a Texas Tech fan.
I know Webb's game very well.
But he isn't a top flight prospect.
Thin build that struggles to hold weight and a lack of lateral movement skills.
Good, accurate arm though.

Looking forward to seeing the Giants use the extra pick to select Shaqem Griffin from UCF....
gawd...I HOPE NOT..THAT YOUNG MAN IS A BALLER. I WOULD BE COOL OVERDRAFTING HIM AT 50..not 1 complaint from me. He's one of those catalyst players that simply raises the level of play of the defense and special teams...you may not be able to measure what he brings to a team..but its tangible.

Webb will be out of the league in 2 years time...another Paxton Lynch type. Has the physical tools, but the mental part is missing. They will squeeze another year from Eli and draft Chubb at 2. Next year is when they will be searching for a QB.
Completely inaccurate read of Webb.
He is very good mentally, struggles with lateral movement and holding weight.

Not disputing that my friend..I just gave you PART of his issues...not a complete breakdown. More power to ya if you wanna dissect the guy.Im only sayin,he wont be the starter of the Giants..That guy isn't on the roster yet. Might they take a flyer on a guy in round 2 or 3 ? MAYBE. I like the Western Ky Kid in round 5..Mike White...I like his movement in the pocket..its subtle..and his accuracy is nice..long ball accuracy is sweet. He looks like that Phil Simms type player.

JPP for a 3rd and a downgrade in the 4th.

Meanwhile people are like why didn't we get a mid round pick for Scandrick.

Imagine if we traded Lawrence for a 3rd.

Giggles.

Webb comes from the spread offense..was never under center at Cal...so hes a major project. Its a tough ask of any QB to make that transistion..ask Paxton Lynch. He came from the same system at Memphis..and he still cant get on the field. He also never played under center...ITS A BIG DEAL.

2 QB's that I love more than the top tier guys are Mike White of Western Ky...and Kyle Laletta of Rhode Island. Both can be more than career back ups and I might argue that one of these guys can start and be a winning QB down the road. Worth a flyer in the middle rounds. If I'm gettleman,I would draft one of those kids and be happy. Low risk High reward.

I think the Giants are looking at it this way:

1. If you want in on the QB derby, you better hop the Jets and Broncos.

2. If you don’t, we sit and take Chubb and you can pray your QB falls to you.

Smart move really. Big winner here is CLE. It’s looking much more certain that Barkley could be there at 4 and that they could even slide back a bit more of a team is really hungry enough to overpay for him. If not, draft him and use some other picks to build an OL.

Not much return for Pierre-Paul. Swapping 4ths is a downgrade for the Giants.

It shows how valuable fingers are.
I think it was more to get out of his ridiculous contract that their old GM gave him. I read it eill free up something like 19 mil next year which I bet they use to sign OBJ (which I hope they do because that chump is a train wreck waiting to happen).

That part is definitely fair.
He came though the Air Raid at Tech then to Cal.
I watched him every game at Tech.

He may very well struggle with standard drops because has hasn't had to slide much in pocket.
He's a nice young guy on a team with a vet starter but he's not likely ready to start and may never be.

Ultimately NYG need to invest real resources at QB OR hope for best and build everything else up.
They are kinda crap in most positions right now including DL all of a sudden.

I think a lot of you are giving way too much credit to JPP. Aging, significant injury history with surgeries (not including finger blowed off), and he has been irrelevant for a few years now. I’m not sure about last year but I know the year before the majority of his sacks came in two games, one being Cleveland, so his stats were very misleading. Pretty sure none of their fans will miss him as much as you think, he’s a shell of what he once was a la Dez.

The Giants got two mid round picks but the biggest advantage was getting out of the contract for next year. I’d say advantage Giants by a small margin.

They said the same thing about Tom Brady. I'm not saying he will be Brady but right now he is a unknown. He's a mystery. That will work in his favor.

Giants gave up a mid round pick. So they netted about a mid 3rd in total value.
Giants JUST gave him that deal and he performed better after signing it.
NFL1000 ranked him the 19th best 4-3 DE in football last year.

JPP easily outperformed the more expensive Olivier Vernon and is a good 3 down DE even with half a hand.

I like Webb and am pulling for him but was beaten out at Tech multiple times before he transferred.
He's not a flawless prospect and thus why he fell in draft where he did.
Not many teams turn over NFL squads to guys drafted there.
Brady earned his job by beating out a stud.
NE didn't have a top 3 pick to replace Bledsoe or maybe Brady never is Brady.
