He admits Dez sucked at route running early in his career. That's the first part. Now he is saying Dez is better or exceptional at it.

I believe the first part. The second part may be his real opinion or it may just be him trying to cut Dez some slack. We will never know for sure.

Or both statements are just true. Dez was absolutely raw coming out in the draft. Sure he won on pure athletic ability and he had a QB that figured out how to use him, and he also had excellent ball placement. So we shall see what happens this year. IMO if he doesn’t put up big numbers he will be gone.

Beasley used the word lazy.

Bucky... It’s Dallas... We don’t believe in coaching.

It would be pretty naive to think the coaching staff hasn't tried to get Dez to improve his route running. Let's face it, Dez isn't cooperating in trying to improve.

I don't think he is a bad guy. I just think he won't try to improve because he thinks getting By is good enough and he just isn't that bright.

I guess when you're getting nervous about losing your job you finally try to improve the one part you stunk at for 8 years.

I’ve only heard this routes bs pop up the last year or two. Quiet as a church mouse when he was setting the franchise record for tds. Perhaps he’s taking the criticisms to heart, knows he’s played poorly and realized his athletic advantage is waning so he’s accepting the consensus opinion and working at it.

He’s obviously an ultra competitor and has had some injuries to lean on to explain his downturn. Last year though, drops/meltdowns/fans turning probably opened his eyes to the reality of things.

Trade back maybe to mid 20s take Moore get and extra 3rd?? Fix oline with that round
I'm OK with that.

At #19 there is a good chance somebody that have rated as 1st round pick will still be there but it could be any position.

Doubt it.. Dez is a workhorse.

Regardless that’s pure speculation by you.

"Robinson believes the Cowboys scheme has something to do with Bryant’s route running. In Bryant’s situation the strength of his game that the Cowboys have noticed is the slant route and jump balls, 50-50 balls, but in Robinson’s opinion he believes Dez can run the whole route tree, he just hasn’t been asked to do so. Robinson also believes the Cowboys should move Dez around more, from outside into the slot some because he’s a mismatch."

Yeah. Whatever you say... And the world is a disc.

I already dislike this guy. Too much stupid talk just to hype things.

Lets check out this post:

"NFL player who has been widely regarded as one of the absolute best in the game at his position for over a half decade..."

Lets switch on our brain and think about that for a minute:

  • over half a decade means.... 10/2 + x years = minimum 6 years
  • Bryants has now played for 8 seasons
  • The last two seasons he was criticised, the season before he was hurt. Thats -3, leaves 5 years.
  • The first two seasons he wasnt really recognised as a top 3 WR. He was a rookie of course. He really broke out in year 3. Thats means -2 again
  • That leaves 3 years where he was seen as one of the best WRs
That leave us to believe there is another idiot who talks alot but doesnt really knows alot. Or doesnt really cares alot about the bs he writes.

None of this really argues against what he is trying to assert.

Also Dez had one of the most productive 5 year starts to a career in NFL History. You can easily make the case that only Randy Moss had a better start. So i'm not sure i'd be throwing out years 1 and 2.

But again none of that is relevant. Dez was growing as a player significantly in his early years. Somehow we are to believe that he was doing no work then. And just decided to work this offseason.

That would be a stupid thought to have.

If actually practicing what you're SUPPOSED TO ANYWAYS, is breaking news, you're a problem.

To me it doesnt mean he did no work.
To me it sounds like he never trained on route running. And THAT is just BS.

Over all the years it was always the theme that he wasnt able to run routes. And he was always criticized for it.
Now someone wants to make me believe that he never worked on route running in training ? And also wants to make me believe he will be the one who will work on it with him and NOW Dez will get better on it ?

Thats some big BS. What do those people think ? We fans are all stupid ?

Like every WR also Dez worked on route running his whole career. If he wasnt able until now to learn how to run routes its just simple as it is: He is not able to do it.

This is just a coach who wants to hype himself. We had one of those ... remember our great DC some years ago ?!

Dez is a better route runner today than he was in 2010. So to say he never worked on it is puzzling.

I've been to training camp several times. It was easy to see why Dez couldn't improve on route running. He just wouldn't/couldn't pay attention to the coaches. On drills where he was not going against a DB, he would just goof around.

He was intense against DBs but he just wanted to line up and go without working on routes/techniques. You could visibly see the difference by looking at players like Beasley working with the coaches.

At least they didn't have to teach him how to dribble, which is about what Dez is learning how to do in running routes right now.

Too bad for that argument when ever WRs production dropped last year with Dak at QB.. Beasley probably dropped off the most..

I guess none of them can run routes properly..

It’s plainly a garbage argument. The argument came about to make excuses for Garrett, just like it was claimed that Romo was checking out of the run plays Garrett called. They said that Dez was too dumb and couldn’t run routes properly so his route tree was limited.

The idiocy of that argument is seen very clearly when TO was here. The limited routes and simplicity of offense, it’s attacking outside the hashes first, the limited use of him in motion and the slot, aka his best routes, and primarily as a possession WR was a clear problem for other than the Garrett homers and worshippers.
