The odds are far greater that Ridley will be there at #19 than Vea.

Many teams won't risk a high or mid-first on any receiver - even if it is a position of need.

Drop back 3 to 5 spots and get DJ Moore. He's a better pick for the RPO offense.

Then they can't wonder why the hell they keep trotting out mediocre defenses.

This franchise needs to dump Marinelli, ASAP. They are handcuffed to his outdated way of thinking.

I agree that they should have dumped the Clapper and all his devotees but, not happening this year. Marinelli is still king of the roost
and you know how likes to have his "no names". This year he might call them the "couch potato never do wells".

Smokescreen!!! Jerry is just smarter than everyone else.

I award you this ribbon for being the first poster to ever claim Jerry Jones is smarter than all the rest.

He's the DC, not the GM. The Jones should tell him to sit there and coach the players they give him.

It's absurd an entire drafting/personnel plan is tied to the whims of Marinelli.

So many people thought he did such a wonderful job a couple of years ago with "scrubs", so he should be able to do wonders with top players, right?

Not sourced, but interesting.

We probably should give the team the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their draft approach here in recent years. They’re doing a pretty good job.

They get no benefit of the doubt here when they fail to consistently put any resources into the 1 Tech largely because their DC thinks he can succeed with slobs there. Maybe if he was having some level of success but he's not and it seems every single offseason, here we are looking for bodies at the 1 Tech.

Well, if that tweet is to be believed, you should be having one of them in for a visit, which ought to make you feel better about things on that score.

Those who keep whining for a 345 lb "1 tech" tackle to be drafted by the Cowboys, please stop:

1. Marineilli runs a modified Tampa 2 defense, to wit:

"The personnel used in the Tampa 2 are specific in position and required abilities. All positions in this defense place a premium on speed, and often the result is that they are all undersized by league standards. The defensive linemen in this scheme have to be quick and agile enough to create pressure on the quarterback without the aid of a blitz from either the linebackers or the secondary..." A monster nose tackle is not the type of player Marinelli wants.

2. Marinelli is the defensive coordinator, as such players are drafted that HE WANTS, if he doesn't want big, lumbering (yes I know Vea is supposedly quick, but he's still a big guy) defensive tackles, the Cowboys won't draft one, at least not high.

3. If a big defensive tackle is drafted, likely Marinelli won't know what to do with him, and the draft pick would essentially be wasted. We've had enough of players who take up cap space and don't get to play.

Who knows, maybe Jerry or Stephen or Jason will put their foot down and change things, but I seriously doubt it.

Keep in mind that some believe that Richard will take over Marinelli soon.

I have to believe that they will give Richard a voice about the defense since he will be taking over soon.

I don't know if his input will be more important than Rod's...but it is something to think about and if the team knows it is going to transition from Rod to Richard...they might give what he says some serious thought.

I want a 1 Tech that actually has some ******* talent, not the gaggle of bums and cast offs that Marinelli has always said he only needs at the 1 Tech. I mean you are talking about a guy that rode Nick Hayden for a few years, for chrissakes.

Well, like I said about Jerry, et al putting his foot down, maybe he's trying to ease Marinelli out, he certainly had no qualms about getting rid of Kiffin, but then he didn't fire him, he "kicked him upstairs". But regardless, getting away from Marinelli's defense might be the result...

its crazy because you know it gets debated
its not like we as fans have some insight that they have no access to
if only it was Marinelli i would love to hear the input from others

maybe we should consider though
lots of shuffling with the coaches this year ,maybe they will be more aggressive with their strategy. guys like Kris might have a different philosophy
