Dude used to be a force. Took over in the Super Bowl run for Carolina. Nice depth, not sure why he wasn't effective last year.

Jeez. How hard is it to do a little research. His drop off in production as a pass rusher last year is very easy to explain. The Jets tried to convert him from DE to OLB. He played well enough at OLB that they wanted him back. The reason he was hesitant to resign with the Jets is because he sees himself as a DE; so he looked for a team where he might have a chance to start at DE. The Cowboys have a need for a guy to start at DE opposite Lawrence, so he signed with Dallas. Simple.

The three years he played DE, he had 14 sacks. The 1 year he played OLB, he had 1 sack. Different position, different results. If Ealy had been kept at DE last season, and duplicated his previous results, he'd have about 19 sacks in 4 seasons - not far off from Lawrence, who has had 23.5 sacks in the same 4 seasons. Ealy was seleted 26 picks AFTER Lawrence in 2014.

With the Jets, in a situational role, he had only 1 sack, but 9 pass deflections and an interception.

Ealy will give us much more in the 4-3 than Mayowa did.

I think it's the reality if we don't pick up a quality 1-tech in the first or second round. It's not the perfect position for him, but he is an adequate starter there while Price and Ash are rotational pieces at best.

I know it's a reality. It's also a flaw in the FO's plan IMO if they don't come out of this draft with a legit 1 Tech prospect.

This is a good signing. This is quality depth who is still young, as super bowl experience and has upside.

He's got limited upside. He's been in the league 4 years so likely what you see is what you get with him. Which is maybe a decent backup, rotational DE. Which is fine.

In terms of who gets cut, I haven't seen Ealy's contract but if it's a one year deal, Ealy could easily be a cut candidate himself if he doesn't perform in camp.

The JETS will do that to people
Some guys are more 4/3 others more 3/4
Some could shine in either
I think Kony was a bad fit in their scheme
This is a good signing to me
You get a player with some upside and little risk who has every reason to be very motivated
