Why do you think Jerry has kept him around?
I think Jerry just wants to prove that he was right to hire him. I know JG represents himself and the team well, but his game management has not improved. I can't figure it out...what do you think ? This is a serious question, I'm not joking or trying to start any drama. Just curious

Because he is good at developing the talent they draft for him and motivating the team.

He was Coach of the year a couple years ago.

Not on the field. At least not consistently. He hasn't shown an ability to adapt to coach in crunch time

His ability to adjust his scheme in game is different than his players playing hard. And what games have you seen them lay down?

I think it is a lot of "just enough" to keep Garret around and Jerry does not like to pay off HC's.
  1. He took over a team that required a major overall. IMO that gave him a couple of years of "learning on the job" time that JJ stated he would not get.
  2. He has won enough (in Jerry's opinion) and won COTY which convinced Jerry he may have a legit HC.
  3. The team has not quit on him like it did with Wade.
  4. Jerry wants to be perceived as a "football guy" and being patient with his HC goes along with that thinking.
Note: these are my opinions on why Jerry keeps Garret and not my opinions justifying keeping him.

Jerry keeps thinking that he's going to let him go and then he's going to go on to another franchise and become Belicheck or something. That's why he's still here. The old man is delusional and doesn't want to train the guy and then he use all this "knowledge" he's acquired and lead another team. :muttley:

Honestly I feel he hasn't had a reason to yet. I think Jerry understands that these teams he's put together haven't been good enough to win a ring.

But more importantly....Jerry has shown he's loyal to a fault. He gets rid of you a year or two after he should've. I think Garrett will be no different. Once this team quits on him he will get rid of him. But being 9-7 or 10-6....might not be enough to do it.
