Every team dynasty in sports has gone through great periods and low periods. Those great periods are shorter and shorter because of FA. Corner stone players leave for greener pastures or retire. Even in individualistic sports (tennis, golf) all greats lose their skills with time. Boxers too. Two of my favorite icons in all of sports, Jack Nicholas and Ali. It's life man
All true!!

The difference with the Cowboys is Jerry’s peak or time has passed but he’s still here providing our greatest obstacle to overcome as the leagues oldest GM.

It would be like us depending on Nicklaus to win another Masters. Lol

We put Tex and Tom out to pasture. It’s time for Jerry.

I don't think teams are dysfunctional. Just a group of players who either find chemistry and put it together for a few years on and off the field and celebrate wins while holding each other up through losses.

Teams may not be dysfunctional, but organizations definitely can be. The Cowboys have been under Jerry for most of the post-Jimmy era. Not so much now though.

You’re comment about finding chemistry (or whatever term one wants to use) is spot on. Things just click at periods of time and good things happen. The Eagles this year, the Cowboys in 2016, the Panthers in 2015. I would even say the Giants in 2007 - if I remember correctly, the were 7-7 before going in their SB run.

The same goes for individuals. I have no doubt Dez of the last 3 years would not be the Dez of the next 3 years HERE, but I also see that he could be the Dez of 2011-2014 somewhere else. Earl Thomas is still a very good player, but he may not have the same success here or anywhere else as he’s had in Seattle. It’s about the circumstances and synergies. I would still take Earl for a reasonable cost, but know he might not be the same.

Jerry put tex and Tom out to pasture. Probably will require an intervention to cull out Jerry.

This isn’t a pro-Jerry comment, but he did Tom a favor. There was no shortage of fans & media that thought it was time for Tom to go. Even Tex wanted to move on from Tom, but didn’t know how to do it gracefully. How Jerry handled it was disgraceful, but Tom was going to be fired at some point before too many years. Despicable Bum Bright hated Landry and wanted to fire him, but didn’t have the huevos.

So you admit the Cowboys might have a pretty good team at 14-2? Or would that be just the “talent” on their own going out there and winning 14 games?

I will admit you are annoying...

Can’t believe I have to defend myself for supporting the Cowboys.

You don't have to dedend yourself for supporting the Cowboy. We're all are here because we support the Cowboys. . You have to defend yourself because you constantly attack people for having a different opinion than your own. You only back up your takes with personal attacks and if someone questions you, you lose it.

The ONLY people I constantly criticize are those who CONSTANTLY complain. Please get that straight. It’s an extremely important point to understand.

Rockport is correct, their philosophy is sound. I dont disput that. However the interpretation is not what the fans want. The team is perfectly fine with an average team that makes them money. This is the only part where the team and most of the fans split.

The fans want a winner, the owners want money. If more fans understood this, they would than be happier. You either accept its mediocrity all the way, or you are going to be bummed out. Rockport is fine with the team being this way, he defends this. Thats fine, thats his right and his view. Its up to the rest of us to accept this as i have and just shake your head year in and year out, or try to get mad over what you cant change. JJ doesnt care. No more talknig smack with your friends my fellow fans, the owner isnt looking to win. Fill his playground, let him roll in the money before hes out of here and hes thrilled. Its a sad state of affairs but the organization we grew up to respect and admire is gone. a new wave is taking over and as you can see a ton of people are ok with being middle of the pack.

you want to be successful, you want to look past a sunday, you have to get up, man up, do the right thing and head out that door, it will not be tolerated here in Dallas. That mindset will not be accepted by this team. this ownership has made it real clear, do not get excited for the SB, unless its held in Dallas, than go out and buy a ticket.

I promise you, the Cowboys will go to the SB this year, they just have to buy a ticket like the other fans.

So you complain about complainers?
I'm the history of this board has anyone ever complained more than you? I remember years ago you complaining everyday about people who didn't think Romo was he best QB in Cowboys history. When did the roles reverse?

Just a reminder to curb your enthusiasm THIS SEASON. Have you not learned from 21 years of wide-eyed expectations?
Save your pom-poms for 2019!

I’ve never constantly complain about the Cowboys. Quit your lying. You've made your bed here as one who does constantly complain about everything Cowboys so deal with the consequences.

LOL what consequences?

Being berated by a psychopath on a message board like yourself?

Seriously, you may want to take a step back and do some introspection. You spend quite a bit of time berating your fellow posters on their attitudes or general malaise. That question from the other poster about what you are looking for on the board with regards to the general sentiment about the team seem warranted. What is it that you wish that the other posters would do-mix their criticism with something positive at a 50/50 ratio?

There is no way to change the attitudes or views of others with regards to the Cowboys and the way they do business (that you have any control over). The only way is with on-field performance by the team.

Bwahaha! First you must attempt to answer reasonable questions before anyone can attempt to understand your rationale. Go ahead-quit ducking the question (explain your expectations of other posters since you find criticism everywhere and label every bit of it as "hating"). And if you are referring to me as hating on anything Cowboys with my grand total of 76 or so posts....Keep that victim narrative going buddy-everyone that criticizes is just out to hate on the Cowboys.

Consequences LOL, oh no, wait for it, Amber and Verdict have given me a label, YIPPEEEE. Some of us invest enough into the Cowboys where we have a right to complain. I don't run from it. I proudly will state my case and back it up, unlike you. Who states his case and runs when he gets called out on it. We've been watching you do it a very long time. All the way back from when you said Tony was the greatest Cowboy ever. Me,,, I will complain until the year they win Championship. And I'll foolishly keep spending a ton of money doing it lol.

I call oxymoron thread title. Having a philosophy would lead people to think there is a plan and I have yet to see evidence of that except building an OL that if kept intact will cap strap this team and it will continue to be offensively top heavy.
