Honestly, I think he's going to standout at ILB for us. His coverage skills are off the charts as the OP was saying. Not to mention that he's got nice speed. He's got the skills needed to lock down the middle.

His speed is 4.65 smith right last year was 4.5 start of last season..But he had lateral issues..The brace is gone this year..And last year Smith was working towards his 4.4 speed before the knee..Sorry But I dont think this kid sees any part of the mlb position..

Well, so be it if that's the case, but, either way, I like what we're going to get with him. I think he's going to be solid for us, and I love his capabilities in coverage.

If Miller blows up in the league I’m going to be upset with myself for not whining more on the forum for us to draft him.

He just screams Antonio Brown part 2.
I am a firm believer that if I yell at the TV loud enough the players on the field can hear me...I also believe that if Miller becomes the next A.Brown I will blame you for not whining enough cause I am a firm believer in whining to get something you really want. The clock has begun ticking and I will never forget.

We shall see. Either way, he's a player we needed. I think we can all agree that we need to be faster at LB, and we got faster with LVE.

Really, so we needed a 1st round lbr waiting in the wings until Sean lee gets hurt? OUR need was Depth. .You dont sit on a 1st round pick at lbr..He gonna have to beat somebody out, he is not ready, and his tape is full of issuez they are going to have to correct..

15 years? This board goes back to a previous iteration in the late 90's There are some here from the old DMN board before that.

I pretty much own the opinions I have had that are wrong. I still admit I was high on Carpenter.

But I also get over old news. Seems like you just can't let go of 7 years ago. I wonder why?

You accused me of hiding. I call BS. I was talking about my 15 years between this board and the other we both were on. Not sure what you are referring to on other boards.

Calling Vander Esch another Carpenter is weak and the easy way out. Might as well just say you don't like him because he has a funny name.

Urlacher was a Safety at New Mexico and played in an unorthodox college scheme, so... he actually had zero experience playing LB when he was drafted. He was a pure projection by Chicago.

Nice try though.

You made my point even better. He's even more incomparable to Esch than I thought. Thanks

What about the other side of LB? If he IS going to be an OLB, then he'd go right where Hitchens was which is an INSTANT upgrade there.

LOL... you said he was a much better player at this point in their careers. You obviously have no idea what Urlacher was as a prospect.

You are prepared to be surprised, in a good way. I've posted this before, but appropriate again. I live in Boise. Went to BSU home games. Went in person to LVE's pro day... Being as objective as I can be, this guy is, at a minimum, Karlos Dansby. At a maximum, Brian Urhlacher... Simply put, 6'4" 256 lb guys do NOT move like this guy does. He is the best coverage MLB in this draft. His backpedal is effortless and fluid. He opens his hips like a CB. And with his 6'4" height and wingspan, 39.5" vert, and great range, he closes that window in the middle of the field. Makes it so hard for QB's to fit passes into that middle seam or throw over him. In today's NFL, that is huge... Further, I believe it was proven last year that Jaylon Smith is a far better OLB, than he is a MLB. Let him come off the edge and cover TE's. LVE's instincts at MLB are so much better than Jaylon's. Plus, he weighs 256 and has room for another 10lbs without losing any quickness... Where LVE needs to improve is take on. But not because he's not physical (forget the Bobby Carpenter comparisons, they are wrong and lazy). He IS physical. But he is so athletic, he often tries (and succeeds) to slip around blockers. He will get coached up on that... Also, the draft is a projection. And LVE's athleticism is off the charts. At 256, he ran a 4.65 40. And add to that a 3 cone of 6.88. That is the SAME as Calvin Ridley and better than DJ Moore (6.95). Last, he had a vertical of 39.5". That is the SAME as DJ Moore and 8.5" higher than Ridley. For a MLB. Think about that and let it sink in. He is an athletic freak, and an ascending player... Finally, he is a really good kid. High school championships in 8 man football and basketball. He is a self made player. Walk on. Team captain. He will not stop working. He is the anti-Dez... Fellas, do not be disappointed. You will love this guy.

Love the post excellent. My biggest question is his neck condition and is Jaylon Smith fast enough to play OLB...?

Hitchens played Mlb on third down..He is not a mlb bro..Idn know what to tell you..He is not coming in on third down with Smith and Lee..about the best is maybe inserting him in the sam with Wilson or spc teams.

He was a much better player at his position. That point still stands. Are you saying you think Esch is better than Urlacher?

Furthermore, I'd like to point out that he wasn't even my first 2 choices in this draft (of the players that we legitimately had a chance at). James and Landry were 2 players that I really liked the thought of us getting. With that being said, LVE is someone that I do like as well. I'd have been happy with Evans, but I think I understand why we didn't get him. I explained this previously on another thread, but he didn't run at both the Combine and at his Pro Day which would undoubtedly put off a lot of teams.
