Jaylon Smith expects to be “better than Notre Dame 100 percent”

No longer in need of an ankle foot orthosis (AFO) brace for drop foot, Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith has no more reminders of his devastating knee injury from two years ago. Instead, he sees only a bright future.
I need to know for certain if he is or isn't wearing the foot brace.

I expect Jaylon to be improved this year which is a great sign. However, he lacked explosiveness and lateral movement last year. It was painfully obvious the last half of the season. He was probably one of the 5 worst starting LBers in the NFL last year. I’m expecting him to be better, but how much will that impact the team? I can’t see it shooting him into the top half of starting LBers.

If Jaylon completely gets his lateral agility back and he learns to recognize plays quicker( he’s got a great roll model in Lee) he could really help this D this year. Our LB’s have some serious potential to be ELITE as a group.
Jaylon's in game adjustments were top notch. People forget that Jaylon took on way more responsibility than intended so there were games when he was learning on the fly. It appeared to be bad thing when he didn't recognize the play as you say but once he understood what was happening in the very same game he was blowing up plays before they started. I watched a break down from someone a few days ago on this. By the end of the season he was no longer a liability. With the brace coming off and the experience he now has I think we may have a Kraken on our hands.

Holy moly.

We passed on one of the deepest drafts, hell I'm gonna call it the deepest drafts in the last ten years for basically a first round pick with only 31 picks in the first round and picking at 34. He has not been good to this point, we were basically signing a player for a 2 year contract. The list of players available where we picked him was just crazy. He was supposed to be a generational player I can't even call him good to this point, yes he did improve and yes I will root for him, but this pick had REACH all about it.

“I’m happy,” Smith said. “There’s a great chance that I won’t have to play with it this year. I haven’t wore it since the offseason training began, [and I] want to keep it going.”

He said great chance meaning nothing is for certain regarding the brace....

You call yourself a sports guru when it's already been reported a hundred times that he's practicing without a foot brace? C'mon man.

“I’m happy,” Smith said. “There’s a great chance that I won’t have to play with it this year. I haven’t wore it since the offseason training began, [and I] want to keep it going.”

He said great chance meaning nothing is for certain regarding the brace.... Yes I posted the same response to you as well.

Don’t worry, man. Some of us got it.

I hope he is completely healed and is better than the Notre Dame version, but this is a show me league.

Jaylon is going to have to show it on the field this season.

I think Jaylon is at the point where he needs to stop engaging every yahoo with a question about his health. The guy just needs to show it on the field on a consistent basis, and he'll have ample opportunity this year.

Apologies if this was already posted, but he looks ready to me.

I love this.

Last year, when everyone was posting all those "OMG HE'S SO FAST!!!" videos, I said he looked completely out of control.

Drills that "slower" guys like Hitch were doing smooth and under control, Jaylon looked sloppy at, and it wasn't because of his foot. It looked like he was trying to prove he hadn't lost a step or something. Unfortunately, he ended up playing out of control as well.

This drill looks focused on getting him to play under control, which is something he needs badly.
