For what? Not bringing him back from IR when he was healthy? The is no rule you have to bring anyone back from IR. You can but you aren’t required to

I may be wrong, but I think there are rules against using IR for a player to stash them.

Evidently he isn’t so brain smart -concussion or not. He probably just cost the team a serious penalty

You guys are acting like they can just remove everyone they want from IR without it being a big deal. In the past, once on IR, teams could not bring any players back. Now, teams can bring two players back to the active roster per season after they have been on IR for 8 weeks.

Why would you bring back a player that would be fourth on the depth chart last year? Why fourth? Because as I have pointed out several times the Cowboys offensive scheme focuses tightends more on blocking than receiving and his blocking abilities put him fourth on the depth chart.

I think a lot of fans here are viewing IR like it's a temporary thing for a player to heal and return the moment they are better. The NFL's Injured Reserve does not work like that. If it did, teams would be stashing players on IR for depth and pulling them back the moment they need them. That's why they used to not allow any players to return from IR.

The only reason it changed was because teams were losing more star and important players and they were tying up their 53 roster spots with those injured players for a large part of the season in hopes they could return toward the end and/or for the playoffs. Teams typically use their "Return from IR" options now on players who are important to their team, not young depth players.

Now, you can question why they put him on IR to begin with as I did. And yes, he could have been "stashed" there because they knew he wouldn't be available for several games. However, what they did in leaving him on IR was in no way against the rules and not even against the spirit of the rules in this case.

Really 2 takeaways-

1.Rico is a dummy and just snitched on his own team committing a league violation.
2. Rico isn’t nearly as close as everyone wants to admit.

Neither of those things surprise me

There is no violation. He went on IR for a major concussion and wasn’t cleared until week 7. The team at that point has the option to bring him back or leave him on IR. The only stashing on IR that is a violation is if we find out he never had any type of injury to begin with.

This guys is an idiot... Why open your mouth over this? They broke the rules and big mouth couldn’t keep quiet. If they hand down a penalty I hope this idiot is cut.

Werent the packers suppose to lose Rodgers based on some IR stuff as well? Leauge only enforces things when it serves Goodells agenda seems like to me.

I don't believe many actually thought he still had a headache over last year being a red shirt year for him.

You'd think so, but I had people fighting me tooth and nail about how he had a broken this and a broken that and really needed the whole year to recover when it was obvious they used it as an excuse to stash him.

If he was cleared after week 7, the team has no obligation to take him off IR since he was already on it with a legitimate injury, so no one is going to get in trouble people.

You can’t put a player who isn’t injured on IR to stash him though the pats have done it before
In Rico’s case he wasn’t brought back from IR when he was no longer showing symptoms of a concussion
There is no requirement to bring a player back from IR once he is legitimately put there
You can bring a player back but you aren’t required to

They broke no rule. You need to educate yourself on how IR works. It’s actually right here in this thread if you would bother to read through it.

Personally I wish the Rico experiment would just end.
Let him go shine on another team.

I’m just curious as to why. It’s the off season and we can carry like 90 players. Why not let him stay until atleast until the first cut down in training camp or earlier if they deem to.

Or he just might be able to play. Either way allowing the experiment to continue dose t hurt at this moment.

When you find out how IR works, I think you may want to delete this post.

a lot of guys on here were saying he was being stashed on IR to prevent other teams from poaching him off the PS. He certainly wasn't ready for the active 53 man roster. He would have been a place holder only. Doesn't play ST's. If we lose a draft pick because of it, it's because of Rico's big mouth and he has shown that he has one with his tweets. Kind of reminding me of Marty B without the blocking skills in that sense
Or the hands and route running
