They should keep as many players as possible. The Patriots have always pushed the boundries of IR.

They kept 4 TEs on the 53. Keeping Rico on IR was not about Kellen Moore.
It was initially. At this point no one cared about Blake Jarwin and the cowboys didn't think the most of him because he stayed on the PS the first half of last year.

They were going to put Rico on IR for at least the minimum time (8 weeks) regardless.

!00% ...... they wanted to PS him again but he blew up in the 2 preseason games and got noticed

Someone that big shouldn't be that athletic...... so they took the first semi-serious hit and turned it into an IR designation

He was hurt on Aug 16th so he even missed the rest of TC and Pre-season......normally the team would put him on the preseason IR which exposes him to waivers but lets him come back after an injury settlement..... they didn't want to risk it so they put him on the 53 man IR and brought KMoore with the roster spot
Ya-know? ,,,others besides myself should've thought he'd of bound to have crashed & tumbled down on the hardwood BB court a time or two in his past experiences that were close if not equal to that TC hit he took last year

Yes Cut Kellen Moore's Bum *** and make him a coach that he wanted to be last year. Instead of wasting a man's year developing and we would know what we have instead of dragging it on another year. It was shortsighted from the front office and staff. He cannot practice while on IR he can be in meetings but can't get on the field.
Kellen wasn't on the squad.... remember we went with Rush.....

Rico was/is being developed. he is on the team...he is at practices...its just that he is not on the 53 man roster and wouldn't have made game day roster.....even PS players get to practice with the team....he wasn't dragged. he wouldn't have made active roster on game day.....he wasn't ready to contribute....despite what Rico says about himself....claiming he is going to take the NFL by storm......he is got a little ways to go, despite two catches against 4th stringers in preseason....

He is not allowed to practice on IR but he can be in meetings. Kellen Moore started the season on our roster. They decided later on in the year to move forward with rush. He made alot more plays then 2 in preseason and im sure a number of those guys made a roster.

Exactly

Rico made the 53 man roster and KMoore did not

No one claimed KMoore yet we panicked and put Rico on the IR and re-signed KMoore

KMoore was released 6 weeks later and wer promoted Jarwin to 53 instead of bringing back Rico

We wasted a year of Rico on the team practicing for 6 weeks of KMoore and 4 snaps from Jarwin

Now, I may be spreadn rumors, but I heard Goodell has inside info that clapper was picking boogers on the sidelines, then betting on him eating one. That's what I heard...you think Goodell will pull a few DPs off us next year?

Rico was told to say that by the team hence his silence on social media after he was designated to IR. It's not me it's the NFL that said Moore was trash since no one batted an eye to sign him to their team. And it's a 4th TE that would not have cleared waivers and would have made someone's 53 last year. Don't be mad at me those are facts and the actions of the rest of the league show what I'm saying is fact. At this point I would take my eyes over what Garett and any of the Jone's tell me.

lol - damn you'll grasp at any straw you can. When Gathers said that he wasn't toeing the company line, he essentially ratted on the Cowboys for stashing him on the DL after Week 7 and he was at least mildly complaining about it. It's laughable nonsense for you to claim the Cowboys told him to do that.

As for him being a 4th TE that wouldn't clear waivers, how in the world do you think that comment refutes anything I've said? You are throwing out phantom arguments I suppose trying to pretend you have a point, but I never said he would clear waivers, or that the Cowboys didn't want to hold onto his rights. At least try think about what you posts instead of arguing things not in dispute.

he was cleared, but was he ready to play? doesn't sound like Rico is all that, despite what he thinks and his two preseason catches..... even if he would be active, probably not on game day roster anyway....if cleared, then he was participating in practices....and he has a lot to learn...with that said...the focus during the season is not to develop a 4th string TE, its to get ready for games each week and the players are developed during practices and perhaps when they play the scout team TE

After Game 7 I'm sure he wouldn't have been ready to play. I don't believe a player can even practice with the team until he is cleared by the doctors, so he would have needed a few more weeks to get himself ready to go, and even then he would have been the 4th TE, so how important could it have been to push him back into action?

Let's not make a federal case out of this thing and encourage harsh penalties from Goodell and his NFL cronies. We merely did what others have done in the past with no outrageous and/or overblown discipline from the NFL hierarchy. Here's hoping Rico is able to continue his development without being delayed any longer than he already has. He's upset about the loss of practice time and that's understandable. After all, his career is at stake.
I beg to differ. If Dallas envokes the Rico Act it might be a federal case !!!!:dance::dance:

You aren't talking apples to apples situations. The team didn't want to put Jarwin on the 53 either, but they had to make a decision to do it or lose him. They weren't forced to make that choice with Rico. If they had been they may well have put him on the 53.

Rico didn't even come to the facility for several weeks after the concussion due to the severity of it.

I think the plan was to PS or DL Rico the entire year no matter what, he showed a ton of althleticism but still needed a lot of work on his blocking.

And people went nuts over keeping Kellen Moore but its a huge gamble to roll with a UDFA as your primary backup QB, especially early in the season. Kellen Moore had started in the NFL and Rush needed some time in practice for the team to feel comfortable with him. The team went 4-12 two years before because of craptastic play from backup QBs, I don't blame them for taking the "better safe than sorry" route.
