Most knew he was stashed there. This is his year. He makes it or the experiments over. I think he makes it but wonder if he gets injured. He is tall and those knees.

If 40 times were everything Jerry rice wouldn’t be in the HOF
He plays fast and at 6’8” and very long arms he doesn’t have to put run people
Whether he makes it in the nfl remains to be seen but he is very athletic and could be just what we need because he is a matchup nightmare for DB’s or LB
He just needs to figure out how to stay conscious when he gets hit

Why is this even an issue? No where does it say a player has to be injured all 16 games in order for his IR designation to be legitimate.

People throwing the word "stash" around somehow implying that him being on that list was underhanded or not above board.

I don't have the stats league wide but the number of players put on IR that are actually medically uncleared for every single game has got to be very small.

I think they put him on IR so they didn't lose him or Blake Jarwin (Eagles), knowing they didn't have a roster spot for both of them.

The Eagles forced their hand when they tried to sign Jarwin off the practice squad.

Him being stashed was obvious. If that hit gave him a brain injury that lasted 7 months, then he'd be out of football period. The cowboys need to stop playing around with him. I can see his potential frustration. The dude tore preseason up and didn't even get a chance to play last year. Play him or let him go. You can't get experience and improve on the sideline.

He will get his chance this season

True.. there is no stash. You put him on IR and he stays there unless you designate him to come off. Healthy or not. Doesn't matter. Especially a young developmental type who could use another full offseason.

A concussion is not a 6 week injury.......they have a 7 day DL for concussions in MLB

It was reported that he had a neck and jaw injury not just a concussion injury. With that said you have literally no idea how long the injury timeline was with those possible additional concerns. Again, I said sure they could have overblown it, however you really do not know because we do not have access to what the doctors said. You know who did? The NFL and they allowed him to be put on IR and have said nothing about it being an issue since.

And you are in concussion protocol until you are medically cleared and released from it. It is not a 7 day then you are out of it protocol. Read the protocol rules. David Irving was in concussion protocol a lot longer than your 7 day window. He got his concussion on 11/30 and wasn't removed until after the season (only 2 weeks shorter than the minimum needed to be considered a major injury and IR eligible).

By the way MLB players don't typically get hit in the head as a part of their sport so I really don't see why you thought they would/should compare in how they handle head injury.

It was for Kellen Moore. They released Moore. Then put Rico on IR and was able to claim Moore back because no one wanted him

You are still missing the point. Kellen Moore wasn't the only possible person they could have left off the roster to get Gathers on the roster. If the Cowboys wanted to keep Moore they could have released someone else to get Gathers on the roster, yet they didn't. Accordingly, Moore was the guy the Cowboys used the roster spot on, but Gathers wasn't kept off the roster just for Moore. There were other bottom of the roster players that were also kept instead of Gathers. The bottom line is, was, and will continue to be that the team Would and could have kept Gathers on the roster with or without Moore had they felt it was important to do so, but they didn't feel a 4th TE was that important.

It was the easiest way not a cut a player and keep everyone that's why they did it. Instead of making a big boy decision and being short sighted they were the kid in day care that wanted to keep all the toys for themselves. Bringing Moore back on the roster was stupid in itself even if it wasn't Rico they were stashing for him.

What you are saying here doesn't refute anything I said. They went the easiest route - or really the route that protected the most players - because they didn't feel Gathers or a 4th TE on the roster was worthy of anything else for the 2017 season. That's the bottom line.

The 4th Tight end that needs to be developed should have taken precedent over the 3rd string QB who we should have just made a coach last year.

Moore was the #2 QB on the team to start the year, even though he was cut for the cutdown to 53 (no one would claim him).

It was only till the San Fran game where the coaches felt comfortable with Rush as the main backup.

It was still bad regardless. They forgot #4 was the QB and not #9 where you have to build the team around a backup QB because you know he will get playing time. Moore was worse than Rush. Hence why they released him cuz they knew he would clear waivers since you know no one wants him.
