So 3 years after he is drafted he may get to play. More than likely he won’t live up to hype and the excuse will be he has been away from the game and needs to develop, so chances are year 5 will determine if you get value out of a 2nd round gamble. Sorry, but I don’t think waiting 5 years is worth the gamble for a 2nd round pick, especially when we needed immediate help. I wouldn’t call it a jackpot at this point. More like salvaging the pick.Gregory only has one accrued season. He's not a free agent for 3 more years.
3 more years of rights for a top 10 pick, demonstrably clean for a long period of time, for the price of a 60 pick and commensurately cheaper salary and cap hit. Draft value multiple of 4-5. That's called having your long shot come in.
Jaylon only has one accrued season too. 3 more years. Consensus top 5 pick.
And the red shirt years let those guys train and get closer to their prime.
Jackpots.
This. When Goodell agrees to reinstate Gordon months after Gordon failed another test after submitting his application for reinstatement, Gregory should be a no-brainer to be resinstated. He's bound to be reinstated. If Gordon was reinstated, then surely Randy will be as well.
I think you posted this in the wrong thread.. .sad.. people in here hoping dak can beat the glitch and his awful still legs, bad footwork and accuracy issues. They can hope that garrett learns how to be a coach, but they can't have hope that a kid turns around his life.. sweet. good job.

Gregory is the most talented DE on the team. If his off field stuff and work ethic is there, he will make the team.
Lets just hope there's not a pot of weed at the end of that rainbow!
Gil Brandt doesn't agree with you.

Looks like you're right. https://cowboyswire.usatoday.com/20...accrued-season-free-agency-reinstatement/amp/
Maybe as a pure passrusher, but not as a 3 down DE.
I'll take Lawrence over him in terms of overall talent.
We still have 6 years of service time left on their rookie deals so that is a dumb statement

That impressive stat line was in a meaningless throw away game for both teams. I have hope he can come back and contribute but, with hindsight, no way am I taking Gregory again with the 2nd round pick. And I actually was happy we had an opportunity to get him in the first round that year so I wanted him. It was a bad pick regardless of what happens now. We could probably still have gotten him at this point for next to nothing if we didn’t draft him 3 years ago, much like we didn’t need to use a high draft pick on Rolando McClain to see if we could salvage his career.Time discounts on players don't make a lot of sense to me. From an organizational viewpoint, it's simply impatience. That our GM is also our owner allows us to take the long view. An advantage relative to other teams.
If Gregory is reinstated, we'll see how well he can play. He had 6 tackles and a sack in his last game. Pretty spectacular for one of our DEs that year. And that was also after a good chunk of time off.
I m taking the stance of not expecting Gregory to be on this team in September..If he is and its NOT because JJ demanded it, Then i dont really expect much from him then either!
