Crawford would count as 7.3 million in dead money and only 1.8 million in cap savings with a cap hit of 9.1 million.

If you believe he is worth that based upon his production over the last few years, you need to re-assess.
Who wants to cut him

He has been our most consistent versatile DL for 4 years.....guys like Wolfe and Heyward and Campbell are getting 10-15m...............7m is a steal

and you are also a liar because you skip over his cap hits of 700k, 2.8m and 4.3m......those count too

He's averaging 3 sacks a season over 5 years of play. And the last two years he's mainly played DE rushing the passer. Those are way below average numbers for starters.

Yeah, let's extend him another 5 years for 45 million...

And please, dont put Calalis Campbell and Crawford in a same group. That just sounds silly. He had 14.5 sacks last year alone. 2 shy of Crawforda 16.5 in his career.

Lower cap hits that allowed the team to bring in "additional talent" that brought this franchise and only forced them to keep an average player around for a season or two when he should have been cut for not producing.

And not cool to call me a liar. I never mentioned anything about his cap hits early on in the deal.

That was low class.

Lies by omission are just as bad

You are painting a false narrative on purpose to bolster your argument

He had 3 years that his cap hit didn't total 8m ......so to complain about one year at 10m when he played every game at multiple positions and got steady pressure is disingenuous at best

and that is why his cap hit is 17.5m......nearly double TCrawford's highest year

my guess on the numbers......7/93.34m .............40m gtd........20m signing bonus

Year...........Base..........Prorate.............Cap Hit................Dead Money
2018...........2.34m...........4m..................6.3m.....................40m
2019...........1m*...............6m..................7m........................36m.............(restructured-was 11m)*
2020............9m...............6m..................15m......................29m
2021...........11m..............6m..................17m......................14m
2022...........14m..............6m...................20m......................8m
2023...........13m..............2m...................15m.......................2m
2024...........13m......................................13m............................

it is essentially a 3 year deal for 42.34m with 4 Team Options that are not guaranteed

After 2020 he will be owed 4/51m which is very reasonable and he will probably see the whole deal

Crawford was/has been the RDE in the base formation. I can't recall every game, but I'm pretty sure when we went to a 5-6 DB formation Crawford was either kicked inside or to the bench, depending on injuries.
Basically, a 2 down DE, where the threat of a run was possible and then to the bench on obvious passing downs.

Crawford does a lot of stuff that doesn't show on the stat sheet, but helps others. I remember the Commanders game at home where he did a stunt perfectly which allowed Irving a free shot at Cousins. No credit was given to TC for the sack, but his inside stunt made two OL look at him allowing Irving a prime chance.

Precisely dear boy. Also, I'm pleased to see that the US will be hosting some WC matches. I do hope that England gets to play a match or two at AT&T Stadium. That'd be a good bit of fun, wouldn't it? At any rate, I'm rather excited for all this. Now that the boring bit of the offseason is overwith that is. Oh, and the CFL season starts tomorrow, I believe, as well. That's another good bit of enjoyment.
Thanks for leaving Canada out of that World Cup comment. I am absolutely thrilled we will be hosting 10 games.

some of you guys make me LOL..why are you arguing over cap hits and players who should or shouldn't be cut because of it..dudes you arent the cowboys FO , if they thought he was in need of being cut theyd do it..theyve made tough decsions the last 3-4 years with Romo, Ware, Dez etc they let Claiborne and Carr walk that year ie pre17 they turned over the roster by 18 new faces..

Im pretty sure they know better then us his value and if they need his cap money he will get cut in due time..same oddball fans who say Lee isn't worth it because he only played 12 games last year but didnt realize he put up numbers that most starting LVBs put up but in 12 games..
let the cowboys worry about this stuff..fans are losing site over just pulling for your team and on game day that where we can yell at the tv and post game rip the team and players for bad games etc but once next week comes back supporting them..

Money, cap, who stays and goes thats their job and as much as you feel like Jerry and Co dont know what their are doing im sure they are better than any of you..

Personally barring a miracle im keeping my expectations very low for this coming season ..
That's great. When the season comes though, do you mind letting others enjoy it instead of pooping on every positive thread or post or inserting the random "but Garrett is still the coach" or "we haven't won anything in 23 years" posts? While they are factual in nature they aren't typically relevant to the discussion at hand.

Exactly, and there were plenty to be had in this draft and the one before, if Marinelli wanted one. He just seems to really not like those kinds of players, for some reason. Good job we have Price, I suppose, but what if he gets hurt again?
Well, there are so many excellent DTs in the upcoming draft it would be almost criminal to not take one. Unless of course we are picking 32nd and all the 1st round caliber ones are taken.

Now I noticed that picture of the Dallas D line of the late 70's and early 80's. Just possibly the greatest D line ever. BUT GUESS WHAT? they only WON ONE LOMBARDI.
AND THAT WAS WITH a HOF QB and HOF RB-and what did they win when that HOF QB retired?
They went to 4 straight NFC championship games, but ran into better teams...

14m per year is a lot for a guard, the next franchise LT is going to be asking for 18m per.

Hopefully Tyron doesn't realize how much his contract sucks for him.

Tyron has back issues that are never going away and he is not as reliable as he used to be. Not sure he has much leverage at this point.

Yes D-Law, the dpoy candidate. You know, a player that can impact a game more than a guard can.

We havent won anything with Martin. That is even with an All-Pro QB, Wr, and RB.

We need to use more resources on the defensive side of the ball.

We didn't win anything with Dez and DLaw. What is your point here? You are not even making sense right now.

We don't have to let anyone walk

We have 127m in cap space in 2020 with over 30 players signed

And that will disappear quickly.
And we only have 20 players that likely make the roster signed through 2020, so that 30 figure you gave out is pretty useless.

Those 20 players include:
Tyron, Fred, Martin and Williams. No La'el or any depth OL.
White, no Dak or Rush.
Crawford, Taco, and Armstrong. No Lawrence, Irving, Collins, or any of our nice depth pieces.
No Hurns
Bo is the only RB.
