Livings was AWFUL the year before in Cincinnati. Bernadeau couldn't land a starting job in Carolina. Front Office made them multi-millionaires. Reeks of attempting to be clever.

Precisely, dear boy. Instead of building the oline properly, we significantly damaged Romo's and Witten's chances to win the Super Bowl. Coincidentally, I reckon that may be part of the reason for Romo's early retirement. Yes, we all know that he was tough, but not many QBs could even go through those seasons healthy, much less successfully.

Yes yes yes and yes

We seemingly don’t spend on FA anymore, we damned well better spend on our elite players.

I hope we pay as much into that contract as we can this year so as to lesson the blow in the future. Do as the Jags and others do, pay as much of it off as soon as possible with available cap, and if we don’t sign ET, etc, we have some extra cap we can throw towards his contract this year to absorb more, correct me if I’m wrong @Nightman

This was an easy move. Some on this board have been backwards on this signing these past couple months. We don’t sign expensive FA players anymore, WE BETTER SIGN OUR OWN. Especially our elite talents, and Martin is already on a HOF track.

This signing makes me so happy for our Cowboys, as I thought for sure we would lose this freak of a G because DERP-DERP-DERP-sAVe-MoNey-fOR-JerRy-yAY-I-LeArned-tO-uSE-VeLcro and I would loathe it and rant on it in upcoming seasons. No more of that worry.

I 100 percent agree about safety. Woods will be a gem though

Now why is that? Just like Jaylon will be a Gem and Collins another Gem....man stop taking all these good folks on a RIDE here dang.....currently we have 2 proven defensive quality players Mr. Lee and Mr. Law enough with your crazy ....and lets all pray that Marinelli can perform a miracle again with the talent he has to work with....

I know that the preseason isn't always a good indication of how good a player will be, but I think it does give an indication of potential. Based on Woods' play last preseason and in areas of the regular season, I thought that Woods performed rather well. Factor in that we have the chap that built the Legion of Boom operating our secondary, and I think that he can really mold Woods and Frazier into something special. Magnificent with secondary players, Richard is.

Kris Richard was brilliant with how he developed the Legion of Boom secondary, and not all of them were first rounders. Mind you, Richard Sherman was a 4th rounder, and Kam Chancellor was a 5th rounder. Do you think they became the DBs they were without Richard's help? I think Richard's track record in Seattle speaks for itself. Also, we do have beef at DE. I expect Taco to be better than last year. I'm curious to see what that Dorance Armstrong chap will bring to the table.

What I like about our defense is that the coaches for our dline and secondary are tailor-made. Marinelli is brilliant at Dline management, and Richard is brilliant with secondaries. I dunno much about our LB coach, to be honest, but I see no reason to worry terribly about that. So, all in all, I'm not too worried about the defense.

Everything is good except the part of front loading the contract and cap hits

In a negative interest situation like the NFL Salary Cap that is always rising it is much more efficient kicking the money down the road......much better

Any excess can be rollover and the trading deadline can be kind to a team with plenty of cap space

As always, thank you so much for the feedback, my friend. Your knowledge of the cap is never taken for granted from me, brother :)

There are some question marks on this team, dear boy. I've got to admit that. But, I think a lot of teams have question marks. That's why they have to play the games to see who answered the questions best. We'll find out soon enough how good of a job we did answering ours, won't we? Till then, I'm not going to worry.

For example, for now, I'm just going to look forward to seeing England play in the World Cup on the telly. Come on Three Lions!

The "King" of sports has its big dance....simply awesome stuff!!!!!!

Precisely dear boy. Also, I'm pleased to see that the US will be hosting some WC matches. I do hope that England gets to play a match or two at AT&T Stadium. That'd be a good bit of fun, wouldn't it? At any rate, I'm rather excited for all this. Now that the boring bit of the offseason is overwith that is. Oh, and the CFL season starts tomorrow, I believe, as well. That's another good bit of enjoyment.

Not to rain on your parade here mate but the word some when it pertains to how many question marks is conservative to say the least for our Boys. Question marks (?) apply to Dak, our LB and Def-line and our DB our WR and TE.....and throw in Kicker also ..thats a lot of ? to have for team some here are saying are playoff bound? Keep it real as its the only path to true glory and not Jack & Bean stalk glory....

Well, I suppose it's not always good to be questioning the status of the QB, but you don't set records as a rookie because you're rubbish. Lucky? Possibly, but he did do well. I think it's a pity that we let our oline get in such bad shape when Romo was in his prime here. That was a tragic waste, but you can't fix the past. All you can do is look to the future, and I do like our future. Oh yes! This receiving core looks teeming to me. Everything that I'm hearing about with Gallup is really good. In fact, I dare say he's been a bit of fresh air for our team. Explosive and a good route runner? That's a breath of fresh air, isn't it? Oh, and then there's that Cedric Wilson chap. I was really hoping we'd snag that chap in the draft, and we did. So far, he's turning out to be better than I hoped he'd be in all the camps so far. So, I actually don't think that our WRs will be a concern. At least not to me. Plus, where Dak did well early was when he didn't have Dez on the field. Ironically, he seemed to like that.

TE is a concern. I understand that, but I do think we have alternative options if we don't like what we've got. Might be a little over thinking on my part, but we could always go without a TE in a passing situation. But, I'll let the coaches handle that. So, all in all, I'm not terribly worried.

I guess Jerry forgot to ask Romo what HE thought about Phil Costa. LOL
Costa was bad news!

See? That's what I'm referring to. When we had Romo, we had rubbish like Costa and Livings because we couldn't maintain our oline. Had we done so, who knows what else we could have for now? Luckily, Stephen Jones managed to get us Zach Martin, and Jerry did start to understand why an oline is important. Pity that he caused Romo's early retirement with the oline he provided.
