In no way does this guy deserve near the hate that he receives. What should have done? Turn down the money, say NO...THATS TOO MUCH! Would you have? LOL

He is what he is,.... a good solid player who impacts a lot of plays. He may never be a pro bowl type player but HE IS a guy that is unselfish and goes about his job in a workmanlike manner. He is a guy that might not make the play, but due to his actions he influences A LOT of plays that others clean up. Kind of guy that will be sorely missed when he is gone. Asked to play multiple positions and does so without complaint. Very versatile. Soooo, Hate away..... but in the end we are very lucky to have him as a Cowboy.

He is awful at DE. They have to move him back inside where he would be a perfect rotational guy. I heard he lost a lot of weight to play DE this season. Given the latest David Irving screw up I hope they get him on the sumo diet and get him back at DT.

You even admitted not knowing the poster I was replying to. I knew whom he was, yet you chided in with “he could be part of the new group that arrived and does know the narrative.” Then you backtrack when you say that you know Crawford gets hate and I point out that the poster I was replying to said he “doesn’t get hate”

Then neezy says I’m coming at you. I wasn’t. I was adding more context to help you underatand. So that you don’t feel like new members are being targeted for their join date, just being given context on the forum’s own narrative that predates Nov 2017.

See, I didn’t want to have to spend 10 posts detailing this out for you. I reckon, if you re-read my original post that triggered you, you might see it differently now.

Yes, if you went through my posts, you would see I’m very fair. Until I’m attacked or, in your case, my posts are picked apart so that you can get a pat on the head for pointing at some pretend meanie.

Could you and I maybe take this to an OT thread if you want to continue? I feel bad for the OP that you two have done this to his thread. I can’t NOT reply, either, so I’m just as complicit ;)
"Neezy" ?!?! What are you referring to with that & what is that?! Please elaborate young fella

He's not awful at DE. He's just average there.

Solid rotational pro.

Not Crawford’s fault that our FO brain-pharted on his contract numbers.

Brandon Carr 2.0.

If Crawford now or Carr a few years ago were making half as much money then the hate wouldn't be as bad.

I like him, I like his reliability and versatility. You know what you'll get from the guy and he contributes to a lot of things, he's often near the QB, just rarely gets home. I just wish it was around 5 or 6 million per year instead of 9. Some on here will say that even this is too much.

Colossal miscalculation by the FO. They gambled on him being the next star 3T in this league before he put anything on film showing he was that guy.

I don't blame him, I blame Jones and co for that blunder in thinking they outsmarted everyone.

However, he's a lunch pail leader and a versatile piece on the DL who shows up every week and is well respected. I do think the FO learned a thing about counting their chickens before they hatch after getting burned, they've been much more prudent in handing out big deals after this one.

That seems to be a common theme, our FO thinking they outsmarted every other team in the league.

Armstrong, Taco, DLaw, Gregory...They are fine at DE. They need help in the interior. Crawford has no flexibility or speed. He is a straight line rusher best suited for the interior DL.

At the time I supported the contract. I disagree that there was no film, he was showing real development. The problem is he reached a plateau about one and a half seasons later and since then his best attributes have become "reliable" and "versatile".

To be honest, in my opinion if you want to blame someone then blame the coaching staff. I firmly believe that TCrawford's development was thoroughly stunted by the coaching staff moving him at least once a year from DT to DE and vice-versa. I now doubt he could have ever been a 5 star player but maybe he could have reached 4 stars if he wasn't the team's only answer to a lack of depth on the whole dline for years.

Agree...and another reason why I’m still questioning the ability of our current FO structure, coupled with the Garrett / Linehan / Marinelli triumvirate, to get us to the promised land.

Well for as bad as the contract is, this team can currently afford it without a problem. Crawford is just about the last bad contract on the books and the cap space has never been healthier for this team so it's no reason to cut him anytime soon.

The real damage of his contract has already been done the last two years when money was tight. Now it's mainly just an unfortunate reality that's going to hurt his reputation with fans.

LOL Collins
LOL Irving

and DLaw had one good year

TCrawford has had 4 good years.......that makes him our bet DL the last 4 years

Crawford had many average years. Do not equate good with average.

Crawford is overrated and overpaid.

He can't be both......he is way underrated around here because they think he is overpaid

Just because he is overpriced doesn't mean he is underrated. I don't see the justification for his contract. Not with the production that he brings.

Crawford gets a lot of hate because he's paid big money and doesn't get sacks, but he's a lot better than people think.

I never take PFF grades as gospel, but he was rated as one of the Cowboys top 5 players this last year.
