Can't rank Bo top 5, or top 20 for that matter, when he only finished with less than 3000 rushing yards for his NFL career. Most talented, arguably yes. But to rank him over guys that had successful 8-10+ year careers as elite workhorse backs is just silly.

Millenial vs old man! a fight to the death!

(i don't age discriminate, just use offhand shade when appropriate :) )

(like a lot of folks here do to my generation, I stopped taking offense long ago)
I have no idea what "shade" is, so I respectfully ask for a definition before I continue.

Jackson was a tease at greatness, just like Sayers was so it was hard for some to let them go.

Kind of like how some still think Michael Vick could have been an all timer if things were different.

Vick would be a different QB in today's NFL. I think he'd be every bit as good as Newton

Here’s my top 10 RB. I don’t care how many yards or rings they had. If I didn’t see them play I’m not counting them. In no particular order except I start every great list with the most dominating RB I ever saw. And second is most gifted. Earl and OJ are my 2 greatest.

That doesn’t mean everyone I left off is chop liver. Everyone else is best of the rest which is still quite an impressive HOF list. And I’d have no problem placing Emmit in the next 10.

Earl Campbell
OJ Simpson
Gayle Sayers
Barry Sanders
Tony Dorsett
Eric Dickerson
Bo Jackson
Walter Payton
Herschel Walker
Jim Brown

It means, kinda like, being disrespectful but in a low-key sort of way. Think overt passive-aggressiveness.
I know what it means, I was yanking your chain. I have a disenfranchised sullen teenager living under my roof.

A substantial amount of would-be NFL players went to Korea just prior to Brown entering the league. They didn't come back to play in the NFL. They would have been in their prime during the first years of Jim Brown's career... so, DieFree666, even you saying I am right, well, you chose the wrong part of Brown's career to concede such.

All of sports across the 40s, 50s and 60s saw watered down competition.

Be this poster, not the other one

again, address my points as I have done you the courtesy to your posts

Address your posts? You got it.

What is actually happening here? Every single moment of my life or anyone else's can be elaborated on by one single phrase: "To What Benefit?" I love this phrase. If you ever do something, anything, ask this. Eat a pizza. Ask. Watch TV. Ask. Go Work out. Great place to ask. Post continually in this thread, contradicting other people. To What Benefit?

So what is happening? Are we having a 1v1 debate about who is the greatest RB of alltime? I contend no. You know why. Look how you're responding to people. You're building what is called on the internet 'heads on sticks.' You shove them into the ground in a circle around you, and then you sit in the middle, intending to scare away others. You may not be consciously thinking this, but it's why people harass others, insult others, troll others. To get a rise out of them. To get them to do or act how they wouldn't otherwise. Do you just normally attack people? I don't believe that, and neither do you. You have motive, and gain to make. "But I haven't attacked or harrased anyone!"

But alas, I know how strong that narrative is in NFL fandom, it is what it is. "The Dallas OL made Emmitt" gtho
Get the hell out. GTHO. For those unfamiliar with internet tough guy lingo. Just because I don't have a subjective opinion identical to yours. Okay, upstanding member of society.

I hate you
I have said nothing personal to or about you, and you've already gotten this far.

Don't create new narratives. It pisses me the **** off and is more work than it's worth
Regardless of whatever I posted to you that was not in any way personal, I have outright P'ed you off. As you so elegantly explained to another poster. You hate me, you're pissed off, and you want me to get the hell out. Fair?

Wait. Whoa

WHOA WHOA WHOA

This fool is an Eagles fan??
******* Eagles fans

Welcome to the NFL. You won a Super Bowl. Here's your slap on the ***.
Not original, it's a mob mentality, so we can let this one pass.

What point did you make? That you can recite players from a foregone era? Whoa, everyone step back, we got a bad *** here. The fact you echoed what most have already said proves no point for you other than you being good a regurgitating what you've read on sports forums.

punk move bro, you have something to say to me, address me
regurgitating? punk move? calling someone a bad *** to prove your point?

I have found lots of your posts that I'm specifically addressing. Remember the post where I said all this stuff about you? Where I insulted you? Where anyone else attempted to insult anyone else? But look at all this. All this I'm responding to. Oh! You mean specifically address the Emmit posts you made? Why? What was my first post in this thread? I didn't push a narrative on someone, I didn't reply to your post saying you're wrong. I simply stated a list, like so many others. That didn't have Emmitt at the top, like others. Every time you tried to tear it down, I specifically responded to my post. My points to defend them. I know it may hurt, But I don't care who your number 1 rb is. No matter how many times you try and force feed people. But then again, I never came into this thread to push people into liking mine. Like you seem to be doing. So we have to ask, one more time....

To what benefit? Look at the posts you make. Heads on sticks. You have absolutely no intention of changing your mind. You only read to respond, not to listen. Because subconsciously, you also know this isn't a 1v1. We're not in a dark room, talking to only ourselves. This is a public stage. We're influencing other people by our posts. Maybe they were on the fence. Insult the guy who makes the best argument so much that he runs. Now you can be the influencer.

But that doesn't work on everyone. And that's why this is my favorite post in the entire thread. Respond to your Emmitt posts? No. I'd love to have my mind changed. But you're going to have to do a lot better than you are to get there. So far, I've seen zero worth responding to. You obviously find my posts relevant enough to retort, because I know they are. Make sure to keep predicting what I'll do, "No PFR, because it makes my argument more shaky!" "Everyone, see! I told him not to do it, and he did it! You're gonna run now, right?"

We've got heads on sticks.

Put him on a run/pass balanced team and Earl Campbell would be in the running for GOAT.

Earl pretty much played his entire career vs 8-in-the-box, God bless him.
Campbell was about as awesome of a physical RB as I have ever seen. He was an absolute terror. He hurt poor little guys trying to tackle him.

As much as people talk about how they admire Marshawn Lynch these days, I just laugh.

The "Luv Ya Blue" game against the Dolphins in 1978 was one of the single best RB performances of all time.

Bro the last quote was to a different member. hold on as i reply to each of this, and yes, I apologize for the "gtho" also, the "I hate you" was in good fun re:the Mike Trout post of yours. Don't be willfully obtuse. Cmon, man. Now... let me digest this and respond accordingly:

A high percentage of Barry Sanders carries went for negative yardage by getting caught dancing in the back field.
I've always said when Barry and Emmitt were still in the league that Barry was a great runner but Emmitt was a great running back.
He was also caught dancing in the backfield as a result of very average, if not poor, offensive line play.

I truly believe that if Barry Sanders ran behind the line Emmitt was afforded he would be at the top of the all-time rushing list. Barry Sanders retired with plenty of gas left in the tank. He was sick and tired of playing for Wayne Fontes and that franchise in general.

The first paragraph, yes we are having a debate. I have answered you numerous times in the first three pages and pointed out why I specifically rank Emmitt above Sanders. Also, I responded to your notion "that any of [insert the players you said]" perchance couldn't "have had his success/the success he had."

First paragraph still. Aside from my snark to you, which I admit was over the top, my main beef is with that pos post from DieFree666, and I think you got it crossed up with my posts to you. DF666 is a notorious shyte stirrer, and he knows he can get a rise out of me as he has done many times. I don't care, I will always respond to him and never relent. he thinks he's smarter than the world and his shyte don't stink.

Yes, you P'd me off, but I'm over it, re:your second paragraph. Again, apologies for my distasteful posts to you. I just don't appreciate you moving the argument around to suit your take. Especially after I more than answered you, and clearly and plainly. Is that fair? I'm being humble here, can you do the same?

The third paragraph is more venting, fine. Let me have it.

Would you like me to direct you to the posts in this thread that were in reply to you, re:Emmitt vs. the field/Barry?
