I actually think the opposite. I think the schedule is pretty easy.

Tenn
Carolina
Detroit
Seattle
Tampa
Indy

I think most of these teams will be awful (less than .500 record by years end)

Jax and Houston will be tough games

New Orleans and Atlanta should slide back to the pack this season

And the NFC East is the NFC East.
If the rest of the NFC slides back then we might be ok assuming we don’t slide back.

But until we see that it’s reasonable to assume based on last year’s playoff teams those are potential games we lose as we certainly won’t be favored to win.

Car, Tenn, Jax, Atl, No and Phil twice are all playoff teams . And at Sea we will not be favored to win and possibly at Indy and Hou not favored to win pending how the season goes.

I could see winning a couple of those but we could also lose a couple we’re favored to win pending of course as you said in how much they drop off and hoping none of the others are better than last year . I’m also assuming NY and Wash aren’t better and we win 3 or 4 of those. Ultimately it still sets up going in for a potential 7 or 8 loss season.

No one knows how teams will fare from year to year except for the usual suspects. Pretty sure no one last season thought the Jags would be anyone to worru about. And the same as 2016 people thought the Panthers and Broncos would be tough games when both coming off a Super Bowl. Neither team was worth a crap that year. So who really knows.

Jags and Lions don't scare me at all. Especially the Lions.

He was referring to the skilled positions which last time I checked included QB, Wr, TE and RB. He said Elliott is better than anything we had then. It’s the WR and TE positions he’s mostly calling out which you basically agreed on and not quite clear how you felt about TE but I’d have to agree taking Rookie Witten. So then it comes down to how much more you like Dak over Carter. Lol

But his points are valid. Besides Elliott we have probably the worst skilled positions ( at least unproven at this point) since Campo era. I’m not sure we can say Elliott makes up for the Wr’s and TE loss of talent just yet? And we’ll see which Dak we get this year.

I understand Risen Star might come off negative but he’s calling it like he sees it and I think it’s a fair argument going into the season. I hadn’t really thought of it in his perspective comparison but after reading thru I think it’s reasonable concern.

That doesn’t mean our OL and running game couldn’t help overcome as you suggested or even our defense help overcome. Regardless neither of those dismiss his argument and concern about our skilled positions.

Risen Star is probably not just calling it like he sees it. He loves to be contrarian.

I included that while he comes off negative he does present some credible concerns.

I would imagine after years of dealing with overly optimistic fans with a much too full glass a forum could create some who dont have as full of glass. The disappointments and frustration of the last 20+ years certainly would justify such an attitude. I find his perspective quite humbling and fairly accurate.

The Cowboys' schedule looks especially tough, considering so many changes have been made on both sides of the ball this year. Good luck in terms of player health and some timely development by the youngsters and coaching assistants will be required for a successful season. It'll be a huge challenge. We would best temper our expectations accordingly. Nevertheless, this season should prove to be one to inspire great interest.

There is nothing about our schedule that stops us being a play off team if we make the expected leap in Defense and we avoid being hampered on Offense by an unproductive passing game. I believe an honest and fair assessment of our roster gives us 10 wins.

And the smell is "Fear" ......poor Dak and poor US as we're in for one long reality hurting season.....once they stop Zeke and they will as no Offline can overcome the stacking of the box we will be like bumbling idiots on offense as seen last season on numerous occasions.....

P.S. Only Jerry and some here believe a Good to Great OFF-Line (Injury free in today's NFL lol) and Zeke are enough to win a Superbowl....

P.S. Ask the gent's in the photo below how important Doomsday has been for us ?
And when this doesn't happen and Dak leads Dallas to the playoffs I want you and every other Dak hater to make a post and eating crow.

How do you know this without any of them playing together at any time? Time will prove many of the prognosticators wrong.

We know there is currently no pro bowler, all pro, or hof player at any of those positions. They might become 1 of those things but it is unlikely to happen this year.

talking about the strength or weakness of the schedule is a complete waste of time. You will only know after the season.

Good teams will play bad during stretches & not so good teams will play well during stretches.

Looks really tough to me. @ Car & @Sea with NY, Det and Jags at home .I could see a 2-4 start thinking 3-3 would be good.

And gets even tougher after Wash vs Tenn, at Phil and @ Atl all playoff teams. With NO and Phil following Wash again. That could easily be 4 or 5 more losses with 5 games in 7 weeks against playoff teams.

Fortunately ending with Indy, Tampa and NY looks more promising if we’re not already out of it.

I think predicting W&L before camp is tough. Teams rise and fall season to season much more consistently these days. Hard to say what teams will be good or bad at this point. That said, I think this team will fold like a cheap suit at 2-4. Garrett has an angel hair pasta spine at this point and is losing credibility every season. 2-4 would mean Dak is not playing well, injuries, and continued defensive brain farts. I think this team has a very fragile confidence and will roll over with that kind of start. It will get Garrett fired so that would be nice but it would be EXTREMELY painful to watch another wasted season.

Schedule will be great test for Kris Richard's d-backs. Lots of good qb's on the schedule.

Jaguar fans are probably saying the same thing about the Cowboys.

Elliott>Fournette for one. I'd also take Prescott over their bum of a QB 6 days a week and twice on Sunday. Not to mention our OL especially with the new OG probably really is the best in the NFL.

I’m not in favor of predicting games this far out either. I tried to broadstroke that detail.

My bigger point was how tough the schedule is facing 5 playoff teams and Philly twice. There’s at least 7 or 8 games we won’t be favored to win.

And that’s assuming NY and Wash are still down and we won’t be Dogs up there. And Indy and Tampa will still suk which we could be dogs there as well as at Car, Sea and at home against Jax, Atl, NO and Phil.

We usually play well against average to less than average teams and struggle against playoff and above average teams especially Elite QB’s and defenses.

What if we don’t “ make the expected leap on Defense” which I’d like to hear more detail on and our offense is still “ hampered by an unproductive passing game”. How would that change your outlook and prediction of 10 wins?
