You might be surprised what Beltre and Hamels would bring.

I may. I may not. Last season's haul for Darvish wasn't anything exceptional. Houston didn't send a lot to Detroit for you know who and they didn't send a lot to the Pirates for Cole.

On top of that Hamels has pitched worse than any of those guys and his salary is sky-high. The Rangers aren't going to get a big return for him.

Beltre has had injuries issues that will hurt what the Rangers can get for him.

Ooohhh, salary. Yeah, that could be a problem!!!!

Beltre would make a great DH. Surprised Bos hasn't called. Maybe they have, hey?

Phillies are after YOU Trouty. Ya gonna change your name when he DOES come to Philly? Rumor has it he wants to play for the Phillies in the worst way being he's a Jersey boy.

No reasonable person would leave Orange County to live in Philthadelphia on purpose! :muttley:

Oh, and your boys are struggling against the little league Mets today :lmao2:

Anybody know where I can get a Walk-Off Wimer Jersey? If Mets had any sense they would put that on a jersey and sell it. But its the Mets, they have no sense.

A bag of baseballs & a Hot Dog Vendor?

Beltre is 39, has a no trade clause and is breaking down.

Hamels has a 20 team no-trade list which also limits their options. Hamels has been shaky at best this year and there would be a club 20 mill option for 2019 that comes with a $6 million buyout if he stinks again.

Any teams they talk to about a trade are going to have all of the leverage. Maybe somebody gets desperate at the deadline but I don't see them getting much. JMO, Brother.

Ranger fans have disappeared off anything MLB related.

The thing is the Rangers are my 3rd favorite team in the AL.

But they had their chance a couple of times yet couldn't finish the job... And they had a heck of a team for 3-4 seasons.

Now they have to get rid of the older players, get some youngsters, harvest some draft picks, suck for 2-3 years, become meh for 2-3 more years and then try again. They're at least 5 years away from again having a respectable team.

But they're going to have to make good choices. Make a few bad choices and the rebuild becomes considerably longer.

Yeah, it's tough when they're an out away from a WS and then get worse every year.

Lol yeah they suck, but I was mainly referring to young guys that may be doing well since I dont really keep up with the MLB much when the Rangers are awful.

They've usually had a pretty strong farm team, and I know guys like Gallo, Mazara, Kela were thought of highly. Agreed, they need to get those ridiculous contracts off the books and focus. I'd trade Hamels for whatever I could get for him. No point in keeping him, maybe some teams will compete for him and you actually get a semi decent prospect, who knows.

I dont think itd take 5 years, to be competitive in the West anyway. Maybe. I definitely wouldnt dump any money on FA in the next two years, unless I could get a bigtime bat or something (not this offseason but next), but I think mgmt wants to win too much to suck for another 5 years. Granted, theyd have to be smart about it and patient, but I'm hoping for ~3 years.

Theyve been pretty solid in farm system, need to step that up even more now

Dang, I'm only a very casual Rangers fan(Astros first), didn't know this stuff. A Ranger's fan told me that Beltre was kickin' A this year.

Edit: Looks like they waited too long. Can't figure why they didn't trade Hamels last year. You're not going to win it w/ a roster full of .200 hitters.

That's just it. They waited too long and now they have little or no trade options. Last time I checked (which was before the draft) The Angels, Astros an A's all had better farm systems than the Rangers and have much more trade options. I don't see the Rangers crawling out of the cellar of the west in the next 4-5 years.

Go Astros!

Who want's Ken Giles from the Astros? He was getting boos from the crowd last night after giving up 2 runs and two men on base in the 9th Inning. Manager A.J. Hinch came out and took the ball from him and got cheers from the crowd.

Giles looked at Hinch and said, "**** you man." He won't be in Houston much longer.

This might be the trigger, but Giles was on the way out anyway.
