How? A young QB with veteran players wanting the ball chiming in is quite common. Mix in a dysfunctional player who can't move forward and it's pretty clear.

Players wanting the ball is common but you never want to mention that it got to your QB. Stephen was making excuses for Dak and possibly exposing weaknesses by doing that. Remember, the quote mentioned Dez, "... and to some degree Jason ..." meaning that most of the "problem" had to do with Dez. We would have kept Witten if he hadn't retired and Dez got cut. By process of elimination, what would that quote suggest the team did to help Dak improve (if that indeed was the question posed to Stephen) some of his issues? I'd have never mentioned that if I were Stephen. He undercut his QB and placed blame on other players for "rattling" him. Something like "he just needs to continue to learn some of the finer points of the game" and "he's the kind of guy that wants to do that and improve his craft" would have been far better statements to make, IMO.

yes, and that is a huge part as to why we are now one of the youngest teams in the NFL and coming out of salary cap hell....also, to say he "will still meddle and be GM" is speculation. None of us know if he is going to be like his father in that regard and only time will tell...
will still meddle and be GM" is speculation.........yes just my opinion.
time will tell..........how much time though? us older fans are running out of time!

After reading the different news stories regarding Dez I concluded he's production didn't justify his distraction.
That's just it, he'd be worth it if he was the same player he was 3+ years ago but he simply is not. Also I had to say I have always enjoyed your posts.

You put the full blame on Garrett and Linehan? The game was lost on a CB giving up a long reception where the WR was able to get out of bounds. A loss in playoffs against Seattle involved a mishap by Tony Romo on a game winning field goal attempt. Was this also Garrett’s fault?

WOW Zeke had more carries, more targets, more receptions in the 6-0 crap game against Philly last year than he did in the playoff game against GB. LOL. If you can't figure out specially against Aaron Rodgers that it's better to keep him off the field then you have a real problem. Instead it's the usual complete mess. Coaches who don't really seem to have any clue how to manage a clock? GB was ripe for the taking. Their D was beat up and Garrett blows it yet again. That final play should've never happened if the HC knew what he was doing for the other 59 and a half minutes. Even with the best line and RB in football they'll go empty backfield as often as possible. People still buy this crap and make excuses. Sad. Go back to your bubble.. Garretts amazing!

It’s sad that you have to resort to personal insults. We’ll just have to agree to disagree on this.

Excuse me, it was not a "game winning field goal attempt", when they lined up for the kick the clock was at 1:19. The fg would have only put Dallas up by 2, no telling what could have happened after that, Seattle would only have had to go (assuming a touchback to the 20) about 40-50 yards for another field goal try.

Picky, I know, but unless the bobbled snap was on the last play of the game, it wasn't a "game winning" field goal attempt, though that would have been more likely to have won the game, 1:19 isn't a jhuge amount of time..,

Playing Zeke like that in the Philly game was ridiculous. What if he got hurt in a meaningless game? And yea in meaningful games they always get away from the run. It's their trait.

When you get behind 21-3, even with a top back like Zeke, you're going to throw the ball more than when you're in a tight game like the 6-0 game. Besides, 27 carries vs. 22 carries and 3 passes vs 1 pass isn't a huge difference, the flow of the game and the down-and-distance situations dictate more throws than runs, or vice versa....

Yes it was a meaningless game, but he didn't get hurt, did he? How did Teddy Bridgewater tear up his knee? In a practice. T. Will broke his foot in off-season workouts.

You can get hurt in any game, any time.

Would I have played Zeke in that game? Not much if any, like you said it's a meaningless game, but to be able to say you were the last team to beat the SB champs has some minor positive effect, you can't discount that entirely. It might provide just a bit of boost when they play in the first regular season game this season against the iggles.

But we've beat that subject to death in another thread, no point in re-hashing that again...

Beating a bunch of scrubs 6-0 when your starters are playing the whole game feels like a loss. I'm sure the Eagles are shaking in their boots.

Excuse me, but they likely win that game if they made the FG. Going 40-50 yards in 1:19 is tough.

Dez was a very good player, but by far one of the most overrated players these last 10-15 years, Cowboys fans/media has a problem doing that with certain players especially when they wear the star, our talent every year is overstated. Our receiving core finally gets called out which has been subpar these past few years, apparently we have the best at every position, but somehow we manage to finish at 500 for the past 25 years....

Couldn't read through all of this but the truth could set us free . Glad Dez confirmed the coaching sucks . Glad Freddy and Sean had the guts to do whats best for the team and help him on his way to Cleveland where everything goes to fail .

Nice job Steve confirming that Dez was a pimple on the @$$ of Daks progress .

What did we learn ???

1 Dez is a Distraction with a limited skill set that has diminished over time and nobody is beating his door down for his service , but thanks for confirming what many of us already know about our coaching and owner .
2 We got a couple guys on the team that care about winning and will do what needs to be done and help purge the system.

3 Dez WAS IN DAKs EAR . Dak could have a much better year without having to try and please a guy who cant separate and hears footsteps .

4 The coaching will still suck but we are in a better place without Dez

Considering the Cowboys haven't done squat as far as playoffs go for 22 years, anything that helps the team's confidence is worth a shot...

Excuse me, but they likely win that game if they made the FG. Going 40-50 yards in 1:19 is tough.

How many times have we seen Rodgers do that? And not just against the Cowboys, and he's not the only quarterback to do it. And has Dallas had the shut down defense lately? No, they've given up late leads many times. How many times have we seen Marinelli go to a 3 man rush on the last drive, drop 10 yards off the receivers and play "prevent" defense?

Not a few times, that's their MO.

And I said it was LIKELY they win the game, but Dallas makes the field goal and leaves 1:19 on the clock, yes it would be tough to get down the filed for a fg, but hardly impossible...
