**** a bus driver. I want an elite QB. I think Dak can be that, but the jury is still out. This year is everything.

We don’t have a defense to win with a bus driver, and even if we did, who the hell is ever okay with that?

Am I in the twilight zone?

I consider Aikman a bus driver type.

Romo had many Houdini moments, but time caught up to him and the attempt to escape the rush ultimately is what helped end his career.

Aikman was a much better leader than all those guys. I also dont consider Eli a bus driver type. Flacco is garbage.
Flacco is garbage, and absolutely a bus driver. Hence my consternation at calling Aikman a bus driver. Eli is a bus driver who got lucky with a Tyree catch from the Gods, but was propelled by an all-time Giants D. Flacco went off in the playoffs when he won, but outside of that, he's the epitome of a bus driver. Dalton, too.

Aikman was a great leader, but we're talking ability. Aikman was a phenomenal pocket passer. You can't hold it against him that he played in a time when QBs put up much less gaudier stats, as well as having an incredible, well-rounded team, that featured multi-facets on offense. He could sling the ball if he needed to. With deadly accuracy (at the time, per his contemporaries).

Aikman as bus driver is nothing new with certain contingencies of Cowboys fandom, Roy. And it is wrong, imo.

Dak is an athletic quarterback with perhaps greater athleticism than Tony Romo. But Tony was a wizard at avoiding rushing linemen. His spin move was patented and got him out of so many near sacks. If I were coaching Dak I would make him learn that move and use it just like Tony did.
That's not something you can teach at this point. You have to learn that when you're young. Dak has too many things to learn now than to incorporate a spin move.

Nah, your opinion of what a bus driver is is just different then mine. And I said "a bus driver type". So what was Aikman if not a bus driver type? A gun slinger? How many 300 yard 3 TD games did he have? What did he do without Emmitt? What did he do when his Oline wasnt so great in the beginning and the end? He couldnt even spell his own name.

Just because Dak is faster doesn't mean he was a better athlete than Tony Romo. Tony Romo in his prime was the better athlete and it's not even close. Tony could wiggle his way out of three linemen rushing him in various directions, Dak is too stiff to be able to do that.

Superbowl MVP in 93'. Don't think they hand those out to bus driver types.

You mean like Brown the CB that won it for us?

Aikman was more than capable of having a great game when needed.

Saying someone is a bus driver type is not an insult in my book. Has more to do with the type of team they lead then anything else. I would consider Terry Bradshaw to also be a bus driver type.

..I love the idea. But I feel those instincts that develop over time, hopefully. What I call "Feel for the pocket". Tony was a magician for it. Brady and Rodgers do that just as good.

Very few QBs, outside of Marino, Elway, Montana, and Young were putting up those numbers back then. Emmitt is the GOAT HB, why wouldn't we feature the hell out of him? Diminishing Troy's greatness due to having the best ever to tote the rock is a tired argument, and it doesn't prove that Aikman was a bus driver.

Tony got that move from his basketball days. Not sure if Dak has those court skills.

However, I’m sure he’ll prove all his detractors wrong this year just like Tony did. They likely didn’t realize they were wrong because they were so dug in on their ignorant position.

I’m guessing the same thing happens with those people.

You are taking it as an insult. Like I said your definition is different than mine obviously.

Do you consider Elway a bus driver? He didn't win until Davis was in the backfield. When Denver featured Davis, Elway's numbers went way down (edit, no they didn't, my bad, but he wasn't the focal point of those Denver winning teams -- TD was).

How many quarterbacks do you see who have shown that ability to escape that Romo did? I would guess every coach would love for his quarterback to be able to do that if needed but I don't think it's something you really can teach.

They have been proven wrong already. Now they are simply reduced to complaining about things that any young QB needs to work on.
