Like what, how to throw a deep ball? LOL

Tic toc, tic toc.............

Throwing a deep ball is different than learning a spin move. The former doesn't involve instincts, just an open receiver or a receiver running the right pattern. The later does.

Sure. And what about throwing the ball away? Is that instinct?

How about being up by 23 in the 2nd half and checking down or throwing it away. Is that instinct or common sense? Both?

How about knowing how good Dak is. Is that instinct or cry baby biased?

So why did Romo need the spin move? Were his receivers not open within 5 seconds? Couldnt get open or was his scheme so predictable? Was the line so bad that the pressure got to him too quickly? Id rather see my QB take it 12 yards for a first down on 3rd and long then try to spin out and make the all world play. Just tuck it down and run over a guy for 12. Sounds good to me.

For as great as Romo was, he was an average game manager. Too much of a risk taker. Pass happy and foolhardy. Threw much too many picks and in situations he never should. We almost NEVER saw tony throw the ball away.

Aikman was a bus driver....Romo was a average game manager so far from your posts only Dak with one good and one bad year is the QB that is most qualified QB vrs with 3 SB rings Aikman and Romo who was leaps ahead of Dak on most of the issues he has problems with such as accuracy yada yada yada and you know the rest. You need to stop watching Football and start watching the "Days of our lives" dude....

dak ran one in for a td against the 49ers for about 10 yards. that's what he does well. if he sees the opening, he takes it. he's also good at the rpo. he looks downfield when scrambling. he throws well on the run. tony's forte was in reading defenses. that comes with time. once dak acquires that skill, he'll be an outstanding qb.

Dak is already an outstanding QB and getting better. He was a better leader and game manager as a rookie than Romo ever was.

Tony forte was making something out of nothing. But if he had something, he tried for more. When we needed to rest our defense and take time off the clock he was trying to spin out and make the hero play. Love the guy, but with this type of team Dak is the more optimum QB. Even as a young player.

If I was coaching the OLine I would "teach" Connor Williams to bench press like Larry Allen.

If I was the WR coach, I would "teach" Cole Beasley to be like Randy Moss (be 6-4 and run a 4.2 forty).

If I was the DB coach, I would look at Byron Jones and realize he is the same size as Deion Sanders. I would then "teach" him to play exactly like Deion.

I still can't believe we passed up on Randy Moss.

If I were coaching Dak, I'd say congrats, after 2 years you're lightyears ahead of where "the Romo" was after 2.
After 5 years they'll be saying Tony who?

If I was coaching Dak I would just forget about any of the deep plays in the play book and have him focus on his strengths. Which is the short game! I would consider the medium range passes his deep plays. Three things that would help him are reading the defense, getting rid of the ball quicker, honing his accuracy in the short game so the WR or RB can catch the ball in stride.

Do you consider Elway a bus driver? He didn't win until Davis was in the backfield. When Denver featured Davis, Elway's numbers went way down (edit, no they didn't, my bad, but he wasn't the focal point of those Denver winning teams -- TD was).
Same with manning in Denver ;)

Dak is an athletic quarterback with perhaps greater athleticism than Tony Romo. But Tony was a wizard at avoiding rushing linemen. His spin move was patented and got him out of so many near sacks. If I were coaching Dak I would make him learn that move and use it just like Tony did.
Probably not a move one teaches. Dak has flaws, but getting trapped in the pocket from a lack of mobility isn't one of them. If I could teach him something from Romo it wouldn't be that.

yep, and...

What kind of "process" takes 8 plus years?!

With Garretts results, coaches are always fired their 3rd year in the NFL.

Any process involving an owner who meddles.
Think belecheck became a genius overnight after sucking with the browns? As soon as he went to NE got control things started to happen his way. The dysfunction of having at least 3 gm on 1 team (Jerry, Stephen, will) can be hard for an organization to move in a unified direction. Look how long it took them to agrra to cut dez, Stephen wanted it but had to convince Jerry etc. Jason works cause he gets along with these guys and accepts this crap. Bill did some good while here but couldn't be here long under this type of front office. Things will get better if Stephen can be the sole voice as gm, will vp of personnel, whomever as HC.

Dink an Dunk Dak is the most overrated QB in the league by far. If I needed a game winning drive Id take take 76 year old Roger Staubach over Mr. Mediocre.

Its a shame that just as the defense may be finally coming together we have the weak link at Quarterback. Although I do like some of his intangibles like running, and the yogurt commercials, it would be great if he could actually dominate a game by his throwing abilities..........but some of us know, "That aint Happenin"

Yes, I was beyond irritated at the time.

In retrospect I doubt they had coaches that could have handled him. It was Chan Gailey that didn't want to draft him. It (Gailey causing them to pass on Moss) might be why Jerry was very quick to fire Gailey; although, it was also because Aikman hated his offense.

Drafting Moss would have prevented giving away two 1st round picks for Galloway.

Joey Galloway
Greg Ellis

Or

Two 1st round picks
Randy Moss

That would be great, but its a different team. We dont need Houdini out there anymore. We need a great leader/bus driver that makes the right play and runs the offense. Hands off the Zeke, makes the plays that are there. His 12 yard run for a first down last night is something Romo doesnt do. Dak keeps the chains moving and makes the conservative, right play. This is what we need at the moment. Dont need a gunslinger.

AMEN Damn that spin move . Run the play called , if its covered and there is a safe lane take it and get down , if there is no daylight THROW IT AWAY!!!!. Do not copy Romos style of change the play , run the clock to zero , let the defense tee off then run for your life BUT NEVER PAST THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE !!!

Tony just ran to be able to pass getting a 1st down was secondary . Defenses will always fear Daks ability to run for the first way above any spin move .

Dak moves the chains and wins games
