Maybe. But the point of my post is that had they gone for it and not gotten it, the narrative would be how stupid they were going for it. Very few people would be saying “I’m glad they went for it because they were going to lose anyway.”

I think some people would be saying at least they went down fighting, but I think you're right in terms of the larger sports audience.

I often say results don't always prove the method, but that sentiment doesn't always resonate.

The NFL is funny game, as great as the Eagles and Pederson looked last year, the opposite could happen this year ... I do not see the Eagles running off Super Bowls like the pats, for 2 reason ... the NFC East is far more competitive division than the pats play in, plus Minnesota and LA are going to be really good this year. Another factor, wait until they half to pay Wentz ... QB salaries are through the roof now, in a few years?

Perfectly said. The masses always assume that changing the action changes the result. Maybe it does, but there's no guarantee of that. The prevailing wisdom is that Seattle lost the SB to NE because they didn't run Marshawn at the goal line. But running him there does equate to automatically scoring. Any number of things could've happened. But because throwing it didn't work, most people assume not throwing it would've.

Yep. Pederson and the Eagles may be the 2nd coming of Belichick and NE, but that remains to be seen. The only absolute that can be said is that he and the Eagles won the SB last year, period. All the buttons he pushed last year that were successful may not be this year. Teams get on a roll within a season and that doesn't necessarily carry over to the following year. Look at Flacco and Baltimore.

In that home game vs the Eagles in 2016 though, didn't Pederson punt when people were speculating that he should've gone for it?
And then at the end of the game Garrett did go for it with Dak's QB sneak?

Looks like the Eagles got themselves a really good HC. The guy showed he's got a giant pair with some of the play calls/decisions in the Super Bowl. Scary to think him and Wentz could be around the next decade plus.

Time has proven the 35 yards a punt buys you gives you no advantage against the elite QBs like Brady and Rodgers. The only realistic chance you have is to keep scoring and keep the ball away.

You may fail, but giving the ball to Brady (or Rodgers) damn near guarantees you will fail, even if you force them to go the full length of the field.

Really, so how did Philly manage to win since Brady had the ball last and plenty of time?

Yes, Seattle lost because they didn't run. You need 1 yard, you have a few tries. Now is not the time to be cute with playcalling. I think we all agree there's no guarantee they score on a run, but I think we can also agree it was the dumbest call to pass when, again, you only need 1 yard. It wasn't like it was 4th down.
