Wins a Super Bowl, so it's cool to trash other head coaching decisions. He wouldn't have said that 12 months ago.
I didn't know a 4-point win was considered lopsided, but here we are.
I often wonder if he’s planning a triumphant return if Garrett wins a SB.

If this secret of “wanting to score on every offensive play” gets out, the league will never be the same.
Garrett won't have to worry about writing a book, he can list his accomplishments on a circular.
Maybe. But the point of my post is that had they gone for it and not gotten it, the narrative would be how stupid they were going for it. Very few people would be saying “I’m glad they went for it because they were going to lose anyway.”
I think some people would be saying at least they went down fighting, but I think you're right in terms of the larger sports audience.
I often say results don't always prove the method, but that sentiment doesn't always resonate.
Yep. Pederson and the Eagles may be the 2nd coming of Belichick and NE, but that remains to be seen. The only absolute that can be said is that he and the Eagles won the SB last year, period. All the buttons he pushed last year that were successful may not be this year. Teams get on a roll within a season and that doesn't necessarily carry over to the following year. Look at Flacco and Baltimore. The NFL is funny game, as great as the Eagles and Pederson looked last year, the opposite could happen this year ... I do not see the Eagles running off Super Bowls like the pats, for 2 reason ... the NFC East is far more competitive division than the pats play in, plus Minnesota and LA are going to be really good this year. Another factor, wait until they half to pay Wentz ... QB salaries are through the roof now, in a few years?
In his new book "Fearless,'' Doug Pederson said he was watching the Pats-Jags game in the locker room before the Eagles played the Vikes when the Jags took a knee at end of 1st half. "I was there thinking, "You've got to be kidding me right now.'' (more)
"It made me mad because Jacksonville had New England right where they wanted them. I was screaming at the TV in my office. When they knelt right before halftime, inside I was like, "I'll never do that." It fueled me," Pederson said.
"They could have least tried for a field goal. They took it out of their quarterback's hands, and they didn't give to their big back Leonard Fournette. I thought, "If they lose this game, this is why." Sure enough they would go on to lose the game."
“You learn if you play passive, if you play conservative, if you call plays conservatively, you are going to be 8-8, 9-7 every year”
“Coach is gonna do it his way. His way is pedal to the medal. He wants to score on every play. He gets upset sometimes because we don’t score on every play, in a good way.”
Reminds me on modern day Landry's coaching.
I said the same thing when I saw them kneel. With good teams you can't take your foot off their neck.Wins a Super Bowl, so it's cool to trash other head coaching decisions. He wouldn't have said that 12 months ago.
He's not wrong.

Time has proven the 35 yards a punt buys you gives you no advantage against the elite QBs like Brady and Rodgers. The only realistic chance you have is to keep scoring and keep the ball away.
You may fail, but giving the ball to Brady (or Rodgers) damn near guarantees you will fail, even if you force them to go the full length of the field.
Yes, Seattle lost because they didn't run. You need 1 yard, you have a few tries. Now is not the time to be cute with playcalling. I think we all agree there's no guarantee they score on a run, but I think we can also agree it was the dumbest call to pass when, again, you only need 1 yard. It wasn't like it was 4th down.Perfectly said. The masses always assume that changing the action changes the result. Maybe it does, but there's no guarantee of that. The prevailing wisdom is that Seattle lost the SB to NE because they didn't run Marshawn at the goal line. But running him there does equate to automatically scoring. Any number of things could've happened. But because throwing it didn't work, most people assume not throwing it would've.
Won a ring with foles and injuries..beat the pats. The dude can say whatever the hell he wants.Wins a Super Bowl, so it's cool to trash other head coaching decisions. He wouldn't have said that 12 months ago.
