The entire secondary? It seemed like you have only been talking about the safeties. In any case, my point was the safeties are largely responsible for help over the top, and opposing teams didn't gain a lot of ground or scoring a lot of TDs on the Cowboys throwing over the top.

The point is that 26th in passer rating and TDs is a reflection on safety play too. You want to seemingly absolve them of any real responsibility there because Marinelli played a crap ton of deep safety that made it tough to beat us deep (and probably why it was so easy to just eat us up in the intermediate areas of the field and QBs had a rating of 96 against us).

I am not sure how people can look at this situation and say, you know what, the Cowboys really handled this thing well.

I don't think anyone is saying that. My point is I don't think its as dire as people are making it out to be.

Wood isn't dead. Worst case scenario Heath moves to FS and we're no worse off then we were last year (which was best in the leauge in yards per completion and 11th in total yards).

No, the worst case scenario is Heath, Woods, and Frazier are your safeties. Fully healthy or not doesn’t matter. That would have to be the worst position group of any team in the NFL, except maybe Dallas’ TE group.

If Woods has a lingering hamstring issue, yes, it's dire. What would be dire in your eyes? Woods out with a hamstring, and then Frazier and Heath end up in a Turkish prison?

Yeah, I guess that would then be "dire".

I bothers me that we finally seem to have put some pieces together in the front seven with some real talent at DE and LB and they will pair that with potentially thin and weak safety group when this offseason gave them multiple opportunities to add some competent depth at S......... and the best part? The safety position was a cheap position this offseason too.

You consider the whole Cowboys organization in dire need of you.

If Woods is out a significant amount we move Heath to FS. I'm not too worried about it considering the advancements in our Dline & CBs. I get that it could be better and should have been handled better, but out side ET it's debatable if anyone available now is an upgrade over Heath.

He played in 2016 (4 games). Spent 2017 on Jacksonville's IR (got injury settlement, released).

Not sure "upgrade" is the word I'd use - more like an addition.

Lol, I would also throw in subtraction too. All this is doing is putting a band aid over a gun shot wound and Praying the bleeding stops.

To be clear, I'm not saying we had great safety play last year, or that we will this year. I just don't think it's the total train wreck some believe. I agree an upgrade would help, and I definitely think depth is a concern, but I don't see the train wreck.

As for opposing passing games eating us up, the Cowboys only gave up 214 yards per game in the air. Accordingly, if the 96 rating is accurate (NFL.com shows 94.6 - still not good) it is probably based more on short passes against us with the underneath being vulnerable.

I think they want ET.

The problem is they won't pay what Seattle wants.

I think they do but can’t go out and say it. I think Richard may push if he thinks we can’t get it done without him

No problem. Hope I didn't come across too harsh.

Nope. Sometimes short messages in print don't come across as intended, so I get it. To avoid confusion I often try to write something to indicate agreement before going into the detail, but I didn't do that this time.

This guy was a bum in training camp with the skins and got released. I live in DC and they couldn't get rid of him fast enough.
