Agreed. Personally, I learn better from practical experience and he may be that way. But, and it's a big but, he has to want to learn, too, whether from film or on the field. His past actions have created the perception that he doesn't. I've been encouraged by his comments the last few weeks, but it could be too little, too late, or just lip service.
I do not fault the guy pursuing other things in life. He still needs to put food on the table. He was a 6rh round pick in sports where guys drafted that low are out of the league.

Why doesn't he just wear a cheat sheet on a wristband? QB calls play...He looks up what he should do. Bingo. Championship. It's the new millennial football league....where stupidity is accepted...and everyone deserves a chance to play. That's where this league is going. Might as well be a trend setter. ;)

It’s not remembering the plays, but reading the defense.

Hmmm.....why don't we just sign Manute Bol or Yao Ming? :)

Just in... Manute Bol's first picture in a Cowboy's uniform...

I'm not sure if it's about remembering the plays. I imagine it's more about just learning the ins and outs of the game, and developing a feel and instincts and an understanding of the details. Again, he missed 9-10 formative years of football that every other player had. Anyone can catch up on basic play design, but there is a lot to playing the game that goes beyond just telling a player where to run.

I guess we are going to keep saying rico is a great TE without any tangible evidence, if enough people say it then it must be true. we have only seen a handful of plays against 6th string players.

Ahem...Who's called him "great"? You guys invent your own fantasies. So far, anyone that supports keeping Rico sees alot of potential for him to develop and the intangibles of being a playmaker.

If enough people say that others have said "Rico is great"...It must be true.

Exactly. I don't see him being a 'great' TE, yet. I see him as a monster mismatch that Dak needs. He has such a huge catch radius that it would be damned near impossible to overthrow him. Putting him in the slot will force teams to take men out of the box which is effectively blocking.

Really nice of the Make a Wish Foundation to give Rico a day pretending he could be a starter in the NFL.

jk

Hopefully he gets some reps with Dak in game 3. Time to see him against #1's and playing with #1s.

Why would he have to be a starter/#1 to make the team?

Rico Sauve !
so this is for the 3rd game, where starters may play a half?
I got my fingers crossed that Dak is able to take advantage of Rico and prove the vision of him being a monster target correct...

Between year 1 and year 2 he improved his receiving technique significantly. Between year 2 and 3 he improved his blocking technique significantly.

It's not hard to see the player development arc and it makes sense that it would be that way given him only having 1 year of HS experience.

Now that that we have seen him improve significantly each of the past two seasons it would make sense for him to start making gains on applying techniques in the scheme.

If he doesn't do it here he will do it somewhere and its not like we are loaded at TE
