He averaged 229+ yards per game passing in 2016.

He tossed for 302 yards in his lone playoff appearance.

So the answer is obviously yes, he "can".

Will the situation dictate that? Who knows.

yes they are paid to win, and the way most successful QBs win is by THROWING the ball. not running the ball. there are more skeletons of running QBs in the league that couldn't throw than the other way around. Running the ball is gravy and it puts your most important player in danger of getting injured....I am not opposed to Dak running, if he could be consistent in throwing the ball, to complement his game, but not instead of throwing, we should run him to win games. that's not a formula for success in the NFL. RGIII, Vince Young and a few others who suffered the same fate......Cam newton runs the ball and its part of their game plan..... but Cam can throw it from the pocket, and he is accurate.

again, having a QB that can run is an asset if they can pass effectively. when they can't then its not good. you don't need a running QB to succeed, but you need a QB that can pass effectively from the pocket.

I used to live in DC area too. yeah he had an ego, but he also couldn't pass from the pocket. his ego made him not-likable.....he was never effective from the pocket.....

Vince Young was the same way.....couldn't read a defense or pass from the pocket...

he "could". can he again. 2017 and 2 games into 2018 says otherwise.

Dak has never averaged 240/game. Our total offense is 265 and ranked 30th in the league.

Fun fact Dak has only 3 300+ yard passing games in his career.

dak has proven he literally CAN do it so yes he CAN. you asked a dumb question and it was answered definitively.
you didn't like the answer so you pivoted.

will he do it again is a very different question and calls for crystal balls.

this team has a truly great defense and is playing to shorten games.
if the team is behind a couple TDs quick it will just warm your heart when he throws for 275 in a loss...

How do you explain McNabb? He couldn't thrown any better than Dak, McNair the same, Kap, and Cam isn't all that accurate either. Just as there's running qbs that don't last, the same can be said about passing qbs, because there's been tons that could sling it and not last.

I didn't pivot... I presented facts. and recent facts are more relevant than those from longer ago. he has had 3 300+ yard games in his career. 35 games in total.

Romo and Aikman are examples of guys who were nearly decapitated in the pocket.
"Pocket passers" are no safer than running QBs in reality.

A running QB can give himself up and avoid taking shots.
A passing QB has to stand in til last minute with zero protection plenty of times trying to make a play.

McNair played in early 90's... his career average was about 200 yards per game...he was effective from the pocket and a type of QB that didn't exist at the time. if you look at Aikman, you don't see a lot of yards but an effective passer from the pocket and his stats reflective of 90s type football. game has changed significantly since then. much much more passer friendly which has pushed the stats up.....across the board.

That is the very definition of a pivot.

And your "fact" is wrong because he was over 300 yards passing in his 1 post-season game.

I am not advocating that a QB must not be a running QB. but a QB has to be able to be effective from the pocket...everything else is gravy......if he can't effectively pass from the pocket and be an effective passer, then just make him a RB....

Good lord... Aikman's passing totals were down because we ran the ball and shortened the game the same way we are now.
This isn't complicated.
Aikman was efficient and so is Dak.

it was not a bar. it was a stat.... and his playoff game is included in the 3 games he has thrown for over 300....and thus the fact is not wrong....

Dak finished 3rd in the NFL in QBR (Aikman's pet stat) in 2016. Last year he fell.... to 4th....
This year after an awful week 1 he is 18th.

exactly....it was a different game back then.....passing offenses weren't as sophisticated and dominant as today. a 3000 yard passer was considered to be a big achievement....the game today produces 4000 yard passers regularly and there are 5000 yard passers....if and that's a big if we can replicate the 90's in 2018, then great.... but its a different game today than it used to be. geez..that's not so hard to understand......

sorry, I am not impressed by Dak and I used to defend him vehemently...but color me not impressed. he has regressed than progressed.
