Dak wasn't that good last night **merged**

Dak played a much better game than credit is being given. I'm a harsh Dak critic but it's hard to fault a guy when the offense is committing penalties that are wiping out good plays and momentum. And hard to fault a QB when the ball hits a receiver in the hands and he drops it killing a drive where things seemed to be clicking.

In terms of numbers he wasn't. But he did show much better accuracy than the previous week. He needs work but at least he improved. Once he becomes more accurate and sees things quicker he won't have to rely on his legs so much. Can he do that? I don't know. The book is still out. All I know is he needs to keep throwing and throwing and throwing, and doing all of the extra little things after practice that a guy like Tony Romo did to improve upon his game.

I used to live in DC area too. yeah he had an ego, but he also couldn't pass from the pocket. his ego made him not-likable.....he was never effective from the pocket.....

Vince Young was the same way.....couldn't read a defense or pass from the pocket...

Rg3 had the highest PASSER RATING OF ANY QB, he also threw for 3200 yards as a rookie, had the highest touchdown to int ratio....lol

Romo and Aikman are examples of guys who were nearly decapitated in the pocket.
"Pocket passers" are no safer than running QBs in reality.

A running QB can give himself up and avoid taking shots.
A passing QB has to stand in til last minute with zero protection plenty of times trying to make a play.

Exactly, I remember when the whole issue with RG3, it was pointed out back then by Shanahan that he took more hits in the pocket than out.

I am not playing fantasy football, but with this type of performance. we are not making the playoffs nor the superbowl. winning a game against an inferior team..... that's all this was and it was all about the defense..... how many times will we expect this defense to hold a team to 3 points through 3 quarters...the game changes when you have the lead vs. when you have the pressure to perform....

and a little fantasy football stats would be nice.... at least once or twice, which we havent' seen in a long time 10+ games. one or two games is an anamoly, things will change. 10 games is a trend and now a reality.
They are improving.

I don't want a wish bone QB, rushing the ball and needing him to rush the ball to be successful. first and foremost a QB needs the ability to pass from the pocket....running, options, etc. are gravy not the meat

I wanna sparkly unicorn pony that ***** gold and farts diamonds.

You make dinner with the groceries you got.

They are improving.

At WR and TE, this year compared to last, they're relying on all new guys but Beasley. And there are 2 new olinemen, one of them being the guy who makes the line calls.

In their 2nd game of the season, they were fine. We probably would have opened the offense up more if the game wasn't so in hand, and NY wasn't so horrid on offense.

why can't he get judged in the middle? I posted an opinion and dak lovers went wild hog.....I am giving him a chance....he plays the next game? no? it goes with the territory...you don't want criticism from fans and media...then don't play. go get a regular job.

First of all, two years isn't the middle, he's just getting started. He wasn't even supposed to play his first year, he was the third string quarterback. Like they said, he's a fourth round pick for a reason, he needs more time than a first rounder.

Aikman was the no. 1 pick and it took him 4 years to win a SB. Took Bradshaw 5 years. Took Peyton Manning 5 years to win one lousy playoff game. Took Matt Ryan 4 years to win a playoff game.

You would have called Aikman, Bradshaw, Manning and Ryan a poor quarterback, and been wrong on all of them, based on their records...

This is the start of his 3rd freaking season. He should already be better.

That's what they said about Aikman, a FIRST pick in the draft. His third year? 229 yards a game, 11 tds and 10 ints in 12 games. Seems similar to Dak. But Aikman turned out all right, didn't he?

Every quarterback doesn't develop at the same rate, have a little patience...

So you are blaming the FO for Travis's illness? You can't plan for that yet you add his absence into the equation of what's wrong. "New guys" aren't good enough?

No.
Travis being gone does set us back.
New guys are better than expected. Except for Hurns.

I've just been saying that there has been a lot of turnover, which sets a team back a little, but we're already seeing them improve.

right now he hasn't had one of those for a very long time. when he does we will cross that bridge.... and its not about 350 yards and 3 TDs. its about having a type of player that can get your to the promise land at the most important position on the team. right now. I have zero confidence.
I get ya and I am not sure he is gonna overcome his deficiencies yet either. I just hope it is solid either way so that at end of season we know for sure and don't just hang onto him thinking maybe.... You know

now the 4th round pick thing again...Brady was 6th round pick. won the superbowl in his 2nd year. montana was a 3rd round pick. leaf was the 2nd pick over all. couch was 1st over all pick. which round you are picked doesn't matter once its over.

and all those QBs you listed were good even when their teams weren't good. nothing compared to Dak who is light years behind them.

and he is in his 3rd year and he has seemingly regressed. shouldn't he be improving? his footwork and accuracy are down right awful. at this point if his best asset is his legs, then, I just don't see it.

exactly...he was good his first year. teams figured him out. kept him in the pocket and when he ran, they hit him hard and china doll broke down often. RGIII wasn't a good QB.

If you want to continue to hate Prescott... fine.
I don't hate Prescott. I have nothing against him. I made an observations supported by facts. and I stated an opinion. I don't think Prescott is got a bright future as a NFL caliber QB that can take us to the superbowl at the level he is playing. can he raise the level of his game? at this point, in year 3 I am not sure any more. he has regressed. so you just want me to throw praise at him? so you feel better about the cowboys QB position?

The Colts GM would gladly trade for Dak today.
Andrew Luck is on an awful team making a gazillion dollars coming off a terrible injury.
Luck is making 25 MILLION. He was won 11 games since the start of the 2015 season.

That team would be far better with a cheaper, healthier QB and a ton of cap space.

ATL has done well with Ryan at times but he's also underachieved plenty. And he is 33 years old.
He makes 17.7M this year but his cap hit raises to 23 next year before 32M in 2020.
He is the 2nd highest per year avg paid QB in the league at 30M

Dak makes 680K and is the lowest paid starter int he league yet has gone 23-11 in his regular season career.
LOL. that's just too funny...you think if he was willing to do that, Jerry and Stephen wouldn't be on the phone....luck won 11 games because he was injured all last year....I guess he would be good QB if he could win games from trainers room. and despite what you want to say about ryan, he has elevated his team, and been to the superbowl.... Dak went from playoff team, to 9-7 and now some of the lowest QB stats in the league...the arrow is not pointing in the right direction.

stick your head in the sand if you want...your choice.

I am not here ot deal with feelings.

I am here to correct false statements and mis-characterizations and provide context where possible.

Aikman was not a volume or yardage passer EVEN in his era.
He was an efficient passer and a winner.
His quarterback rating was an 81.6.
His winning % in regular season games was 57%
His comp % was 61.5
His yard gained per attempt was 7.0

Dak is much more an Aikman type player than Romo.
He relentless protects the football having been among the lead leaders in fewest turnovers for his position at every turn.
His comp % is 65.2
His regular season winning % is 67%
His yard gained per attempt was 7.3
His quarterback rating is 95.1
OK, you seem to be a stat guy. Aikman has 3 rings. when Dak gets his first one, I will stop the criticism.

btw, Dak is nothing close to Aikman, not even in the same house, arena or city. Aikman started with a team that had nobody. Dak inherited a loaded team, with the best OL in football and perhaps best OL ever, a HOF TE, a great RB and good WRs. if Aikman had that team, we would have been playing in the superbowl with a Rookie QB.

get real dude.
