I'll be disappointed if we give up a second round pick. Outraged if it's more than that. (Assuming there is a trade in next 10 days)
So you think that the cowboys front office has been patient enough to not trade for et up to this point, and then would give up more than a 2nd after week 3? Cmon..... give our guys a little credit. They have done a great job at holding off for et.

What a loser. I swear, the more I hear about this guy the less I like him. So now he may be personally screwing over his teammates, sounds like a great guy. I’ll be curious to hear what the reasoning is but I’m almost to the point where I wouldn’t want him regardless. We’re doing fine without him.
Teams do it... the cowboys new damn well Dez was not returning and they waiting till teams had spent what money that had on free agents , an dthenthe cowboys released him. This is bidness....lol

From what we know about the team this year, the defensive secondary is not a problem. Finally the defense is the strength of the team because the offense is non-existent. Dak is not a good QB now and he is not going to improve much at all. There is not a TE on the roster that is starting quality. The WRs are also below average, but Dak is not accurate enough to even give them a chance at catching a pass over 5 yards. The entire offense is a mess and there will be several games lost because of it.
I agree with all of that to different degrees.

But the team is all-in on Dak, so let's be as good defensively as possible. The top quarterbacks would expose our center field.

ET is available and DYING to play here. He's a great player. Do it.

If Dak isn't the guy, what difference does it make? Not winning no matter what you do or spend.

Is the holdup because of the trade terms with Seattle, or the negotiations with Earl's extension? Or both?

I hate to see a high draft pick used for ET when they are going to need all the picks that they have to trade up to get the best QB in the next draft. Jerry has a fear of the public seeing him fail, so Dak will probably be on the team for another 5 miserable years, but I honesty hope they make the move to draft a QB.

Here's the ugly truth. I don't think there is a quarterback in the next draft.

Many drafts don't produce one. This was a good year. Next looks poor. The West Virginia guy? Nah.

Assuming he is doing this out of vengeance and disguising it under “personal reasons”, have you ever heard of a player running over to the coach of another team after playing them and asking that coach to “come get me” when he’s still under contract for another year? Have you ever heard of a player sitting out all pre season, playing two games and then suddenly not showing up to two practices the week before he is supposed to play the team he wants to play for?

This guy is a classless chump and if he played for us or if he were doing this to another team, especially an NFCE team, most people here would be saying the same thing. Since people are still holding out hope he will be a Cowboy, he is getting a lot of support here. Screw him, hopefully Stephen was telling the truth but I don’t trust a word out of any of the Jones’s mouths.

I couldn’t care less about the Seahawks as an organization but I think it’s a selfish thing to do to his teammates and fans. Again, assuming he’s being a childish little punk.

I do not disagree with you. I have oftener wondered how players feel about playing for a different nfl team if they grew up loving another team. I think we are for the first time seeing a player who loves the cowboys so much, knows his career is closer to the end than the beginning, and is just doing whatever he can to get to his favorite team. While I don’t like what he is doing, I also kind of love seeing a player that actually wants to play for the team he grew up loving. Don’t most of us hate that every player cares too much about the business of football? Well we finally get a guy that cares more about something else over business, and now we slam him for it?

Drafting Zeke instead of moving up 2 spots for Wentz is one the biggest mistakes in Dallas Cowboys draft history.

Nice post but the one part I disagree with is while he may want to play here I think it’s still all business and he would go to highest bidder. Just my opinion obviously.

Yeah, taking a RB there was stupid. We always go cheap on the QB position. Romo got people excited with stats and sucked in big games, but people looked at his passer rating and thought he was elite. Perfect opportunity to move up and get a QB, especially one the staff got to work with in the Senior Bowl, and wasted the opportunity. Didn't want to put pressure on Romo with some competition. Everything had to be perfect for Romo.

We will find out. If I’m the cowboys, I sit him down in the off season and spell it out.....earl, we would love to have you, obviously, you want to be a cowboy...... but we have tank, Zeke, ..unfortunately dak, that all are about to get paid. We can not give you a max deal. If you really want to be here, let’s work out a fair deal for both... if not, you need to look elsewhere. Lay it on the line with honesty and see what happens.

I was just listening to Sirius NFL Radio and Gil Brandt was asked about the Earl Thomas stuff. Gil said he thinks a deal is already made and Seattle just didn't want to play against Earl. He said Earl would give Dallas too much info on schemes and things like that. I guess we'll find out Monday.
