No team will "tank" in the NFL.

But it would be silly to argue 7-9 or 8-8 and another non-playoff year is better for this franchise than going say 5-11.
Not if it involves tanking.

i dont think i have ever seen this level of agreement to tank (or let garrett screw up) the rest of the season.

i think most of us, including moi, r finally in agreement that dak is not the answer and need the high draft pick for the qb...
I cannot stand to watch this offense. The NFL is supposed to be entertaining but right now it’s only entertaining for the team we’re playing. Not worth waiting all week to watch this game only to be disappointed for the same reasons almost every week. Change is needed.

This angle where losing a lot of games in a season breeds a culture of losing is totally ridiculous.

And frankly, I doubt any NFL team would "tank". But the real issue here is whether or not it would be better for this team to just be bad enough to lose a lot of games? There's a good case to be made that it would be better.

Losing a lot of games alone does not breed a culture of losing. Tanking, giving half effort, feeling it is OK to lose does.

Would it be better for this team to lose a lot of games...I don't think there is a clear advantage to it like in basketball. The only gain is a better draft pick. There are other ways to get a better draft pick than simply losing a lot of games.

The next QB is still going to be bouncing passes off his receivers and into the hands of the defense if we don't fix the other issues.

Or do you really want to bring a young QB into this dumpster fire?

All of Dak's INT's I think are deflections from his WR's. Not that it matters, the whole offense needs to be euthanized.

The NFL will never allow a team to intentionally tank a season for a high draft pick ...

... unless you can come up with a clever title for the campaign like "Suck for Luck".
Even though they were feuding last season, you think Goodell and Booger didn't have some discussion about the last game of the season? PHL was throwing the last game away, which was bad enough for the ticket buyers, if the Cowboys had run the backups out there and turned that into another pretend game, there would have been a lot of negative discussions in then media.

I don't think tanking is possible because there are too many that would have to know what's going on and someone would blow the whistle. Can't hide something like that.

If Jerry AND Stephen aren't going to use all their money and resources to win, why in the hell should we feel guilty about doing a 180 if it could help in some way FINALLY bring change??? The first person who says that if you do this, "You aren't a real Cowboys fan", needs to be cow punched in the crotch.

The trends indicate this season will likely result in no postseason.

Which is better for the franchise? Finishing the season 4-12 or 5-11 or going 7-9 or 8-8?
Since our last Super Bowl win (Jan 1996), we’ve seen our fair share of 4-12, 5-11, 6-10, etc, years.

No matter our draft position following any bad season during the above-mentioned time span, we still have yet to get past the NFC div-game.

Remember the recent 2016 “possibly greatest ever” draft class following 2015 (4-12)...?

How ya liking it now? Spot the difference it made in improving the team?

what makes you think having a high pick gets you that dream qb? (serious question)
I have ZERO faith they would move up for a qb (but I do think they would get a very good receiver)

also, I'm not "in" for tanking
I'm indifferent these days because let's face it; we can't change anything

well we may need the #1 pick to get a qb without trading up.
others said there is a clear top qb this year.
at least 2 of the other horrible teams need a qb - particularly giants who are 1-4.

I am not going to root for the team to tank but this is a bad football that is not very well coached so I don't think they will have a lot to say about it right now this looks like about a 4 or 6 win team at best

I think that's very debatable on top of the 'nobody really knows anyway' thing

Like many here, I won't root for my team to lose but I'm no longer seriously invested in this team. Not with this coaching staff. Every loss will just bring me closer to the hope that we can get a new coaching staff.

Winning will just be a Sunday bonus for me.

Lol my gosh. What a bunch of give ups.

Our division is a complete cluster. If the Commanders lose tonight (likely), then we are half a game out of first. The goal is making the playoffs and that is still very much alive.
Playoffs??? Playoffs??? You wanna talk about playoffs?? This team can’t even win a game...and you wanna talk about playoffs? Can’t even get a 4th and 1 :muttley:
