The Walking Dead-Season 9, Episodes 1-8

I for one am happy to have the "Savior War" in the review mirror.

Could be it was Gimple free. Talking Dead talked a lot about getting back to the shows roots.

Daryl had more to say than he's said over the last two seasons... lol

I like having some character development.

Maybe the best episode they've had in a couple years.

i need to go back and watch it all again. i was flipping back and forth between the cowboys game and gave up on both around 9:15. :) from what i have seen i do appreciate this not being more RUN RUN RUN OH WAIT RUN OVER THERE RUN RUN RUN WAIT OVER THERE...

like the last 3+ seasons have been since leaving the prison.

I thought it was pretty terrible. Still doing dumb dumb dumb things.

Yes true.

But it won't be to Maggie (Laurie Cohan).

She's only in a handful of episodes herself before she takes off.

Oh no. I think it's well known that they're going to make Daryl the lead character going forward. Or they'll try to anyway.

It tells me a lot when the lead character of a show wants out and leaves.

Yeah, Daryl is it. Just not sure he's a great choice.

Last man standing in my opinion.

Two of the "Big Three" are heading for the door before things really go south. Getting out while the getting is good if you ask me. It used to be that this show decided when characters and actors were written off. That's changed and now people are leaving at a pretty good clip, sStarting with Sonequa Martin-Green last year.

But hey, I can't blame Reedus for taking the money and trying to make it work. I can appreciate someone smart enough to know where their bread is buttered. But I can't help but to think that it's yet another indication of this show's decline and eventual demise.

Oh I agree. The show is getting long in the tooth.

For a bit I thought "Fear" was the better show, but that's now turned into "Morgan & Friends" and seems even more like a rehash of this show.

I could never get any traction with that show. Never really got started with it.

As for this episode, I always wanted to know what there was to see in Washington and to get a gauge of just what sort of state the world was in. I guess the show finally gave us that answer and I know it will always be "small". Small skirmishes among small groups of people out in the woods over small issues.

It's too bad we'll likely never see bigger aspirations. Given how much money the show was making them at one point, I thought that we might see bigger scales and bigger ideas. Sadly not.

There is some potential for "bigger".

In the graphic novel eventually come in contact with a much, much bigger community. I'm talking like a 50,000 person sized community. This larger community doesn't pose a military risk– the smaller communities would stand no chance, but a political risk.

It's been thought both the helicopter and the woman that visited the Hilltop and gave Maggie the rebuilding book are both part of this larger community.

Ooh! Don't get my hopes up!

Haven't been excited about a story since the Goveenor.

That show was so bad this season. Started off promising then went off the rails with the crazy ninja lady who can sneak up on every one with with a walker on a pole.

I am done with that show, I only stuck around this season cause I have a crush on Alicia.

Agreed. That show has cratered.
