Stidham is getting a lot of mixed scouting reports from the draft guys and scouting websites. I've seen "best QB in 2019 class" and I've seen "not a NFL QB". That type of discrepancy screams guess and that's a bit disconcerting with quarterbacks.

The knock on Grier seems to be his size (listed at 6'2", I've seen some people say he's barely 6'0", which will be proven one way or another at the Combine) and the fact that he is getting the dreaded "product of the system" label. Dana Holgorsen's QB's haven't been big-time QBs in the NFL.

This is not the year to need a surefire, franchise QB. It reminds me of the 2011 draft with Jake Locker (drafted 8th), Blaine Gabbert (10th), Christian Ponder (12th), Andy Dalton (35th), Colin Kaepernick (36th), and Ryan Mallett (74th). Plenty of draft pundits were claiming a different QB was the top guy, tons of potential, and almost none of them worked out, besides Dalton, who is good but not great.

Hate to be a team drafting a QB high in 2019 and guess wrong.
Ehh

That is far from the worst class, Locker could've done it for the long haul. Dalton could've. I won't get into Kaep, but he could still be in the league.

Though would I throw Prescott out for any of them? No, probably not, I'd rather add N'Keal Harry

Part of me really wonders about this. That in Stephen's financial model, they believe if they have a big OL and can run the ball, they don't have to invest a lot in the QB position and a guy like Prescott is ideal.............. he'll be relatively cheap even on a new contract relative to top QBs and they believe he's adequate enough to win.

It really is a concern given their track record of not taking a QB in the first round for ~28 years. The last 2nd rounder they ever used on a QB was Quincy Carter, smh.

It's scary when you see how they approached the WR position. I think they really believe with a great OL and always having a Zeke type back there, they can get by with going essentially cheap in the passing game.

It almost smells like they want to prove to the league that despite this being a clear passing league where teams that are the most efficient at throwing the ball typically win, they can do it the exact opposite way and it will bring them glory and recognition.

It's also probably why even if they fired Garrett, they might struggle to bring in a new head coach worth his salt because they might try to force that thinking on the coach.

I can't remember a more depressing time to be a Cowboys fan, frankly.

If someone wants a pet cat QB to follow. The kid from Duke, Daniel Jones is getting some hype. Big kid, good arm, pretty good season thus far. I saw his name mentioned a few weeks ago and then he popped up in a CBS Mock Draft today as the first QB off the board to the Giants.

FWIW, in that mock they have the Cowboys picking 12th and taking AJ Brown, the WR. Herbert went 11th.

Tomorrow games (10/13) -- which should be interesting in evaluating QB's:

Justin Herbert, Washington at Oregon, 3:30 PM (ET)
Drew Lock, Missouri at Bama, 7:00 PM (ET)
Will Grier, WVU at Iowa St, 7:00 PM (ET)

I can’t hold that Bama game against Lock, lol.

Grier dropped a turd.

N’Keal Harry has the look of a true #1 type at the next level. Paris Campbell is a bit of a project; reminds me of Cordelle Patterson a bit in terms of skill set and ceiling. The other names I need to look at a bit more.

Too bad draftbreakdown fell on its face.

Dallas currently slotted at the 15th pick in the 1st round.

We aren't sniffing Herbert. This franchise will win just enough games to screw our draft position but likely come up just short of the playoffs.

They are killing my Ed Oliver dream.

Seriously though, finishing at or near .500 is the worst thing that can happen to us. Jerry thinks the team is close, no real changes. Not drafting high enough to land impact guys.
