The reality is Jerry will talk to coaches like Riley but they're not coming here with him in charge

We will get one if the 4 mentioned but I will take anything, anything over the cesspool called Garrett

Like I said, I'm not accepting that as "fact" or "reality".

As always, Jones will have the final say on anything including any head coaching hires. However, the assumption all qualified head coaches would not accept a job offer from Jones is incorrect in my opinion.

A coach with significant NFL tenure at any level may be cautious about accepting a contract from Jones. I doubt that is the case for any coach who found success at the college level and wants to dip his toes in the big pond.

Riley can set up shop at Oklahoma. He has a good recruitment base along with full support of the university and a extremely loyal fanbase. He could make a lateral move at some point by going to another school and seek similar or better success. Or (if he is really ambitious) he could seek an NFL opportunity that presents itself and bypasses the coordinators' gig.

I doubt he would let Jones' reputation stop him from seizing the latter. If anything, Riley could strengthen his pro coaching resume in Dallas and find another landing spot in another NFL city should things fall apart.

I’m suggesting my insight and instincts may have a better finger on the pulse than yours if these are your expectations.

No way if knowing until it happens. But if it's a retread? Be sure to come back and give me the deserved grief.

And what makes you think he’d be interested in Riley and what indications are there Riley would be interested in leaving OU?

Or is this all just hopeful speculation without any basis or link?

Look around. Read up on it. You can start with the article I started this thread with. It appears you haven't yet.

as a Ou fan,I'd hate to see Riley leave.
as a Cowboys fan,I'd love it.
In my opinion,if JJ fires Garrett and pursues Riley...it comes down to how Licoln feels about #4...if he fits into his offense or not.
If he thinks so...he'd listen.....if he doesn't...he won't.
the one advantage about Jerry Jones as the owner...any coach knows up front who he is and what its about....there is no "I had no idea he'd be so involved" stuff...you also know the ownership ain't goin any where.
some guys like that stability.

we need a coach who coaches modern football, not the 90s stuff which wont work now.I am all for Riley but doubt he leaves the Sooners for a dysfunctional team here.

I think Riley would get a year with Prescott to assess him, and then decide.

Heard a discussion about this on the radio. Did you know part of the recompense of the head coach is he gets a state funded pension that is determined by how much he makes?

If this guy is making three million a year, and that is not out of the question, then that pension would be pretty serious, and is a lifetime monthly paycheck after retirement.

So he doesn't have the ability to watch film and make a decision off that and a work out?

Then he is not the head coach you want to hire.

Not at all. And I wouldn't want a head coach that would.

So then your opinion of Dak, if you think he is never going to be anything but what he is now (and i don't know this to be fact) would be built off watching games.

How would that differ?

I'm not claiming to be the head coach. Therefore, my personal decisions do not have the same impact or requirements. It's far different to assess something as a part time hobby than to do so as a full time job, is it not?

And my own position on him right now is the same one I'm advocating for the team and the next head coach to have. Evaluate him for another year under a new staff and shame, don't extend him. But don't write him off because he's currently coached by a bunch of morons either.
