What kind of year would Michael Gallup be having?

Its because you are arguing about him being a low end #1, and I am arguing about him being one of the best receivers in the NFL. That's the difference.

Would you be happy with Michael Gallup as the best receiver on your team? Sorry, not me. I would be much more happy with him as my #2. Because that means I have a great #1.

Cooper and Gallup us much better than Gallup and Williams.

Gallup is much more of an X than Cooper, so is Hurns - the basic requirements are running one heck of a slant, the ability to double move deep, and win in the air a la Irving, TO, Dez, ... Julio. It takes take explosive power - easily measured in a vertical leap

The football issue with Dez was iffy hands, same with Williams. Most of Dak's INTs last year literally can off their hands.

Cooper is an awesome Y or Z ... he can play the spot but he's not a top notch X. Cooper has great speed and hands and awareness - but not a big step and can't win a battle in the air. They are better off with Gallup or Hurns (true control WRs) playing X

all that said - this O is so over tweaked and situational (including pay checks) they'll likely keep forcing the ball to Amari in the "no #1" deal they are trying

he gets the most targets so he'll be declared a #1 by the media and others who don't see the difference

BTW, neither Cooper or Gallup is our "best" WR ... Beasley is

IMO, Gallup X, Cooper Y, and Beasley Z
at the moment Hurns is our best X, but Gallup has more talent and will develop

I do think that he and Cooper could provide a better one-two punch than we had with Dez and Williams. I think prime Dez's playing level is similar to prime Cooper's (not sure if we got prime Cooper, but his route separation has been impressive), but I think Gallup could be better than Williams at his best.

He's been showing up all season. Texas really has a fairly deep WR crew this year and they might all get opportunity on Sundays but I like that Humphrey kid. Heck, I like him more then Johnson.

This is complete BS. I am not arguing that at all. I, unlike you, do not believe that I can look at a player half way through his Rookie Season and determine if he will be a "Low Tier" or "Top Ten" anything. I don't know what he will be. I only know what I see the potential for him to be.

I think the jury is still out. He has the potential to be because he uses his hands well and is physical at the point of the attack, which are two traits that Williams lacks. Both of them are pretty good route runners and can get open deep as well as short as the No. 2 or No. 3 option.

Williams had 44 catches as rookie in 16 games (8 starts) for 736 yards (16.7) and 5 TDs.

Gallup has 15 for 275 in 9 (4 starts) and 1 TD.

Different circumstances make it difficult to say that Gallup wouldn't put up those numbers or better in the right situation, but right now, I don't think a clear argument can be made that he would.

I like what I've seen, though, and I think his style of play will mean that he becomes a better receiver than Williams. I just think sometimes we jump on board before we see where the train is going.

Fair enough. There are some things that Williams does well, but I don't feel that upgrading him as a No. 2 receiver was a steep climb. I hope Gallup will be better, but the reason I say we don't know is because he's really not a No. 2 receiver yet. Right now, he's essentially splitting the role with Hurns.

I want to see how he does once teams know that he is the starter and study his tendencies to stop him. I don't think we'll see that really until next year. Now, I believe they treat him more like an afterthought that a threat because our passing game hasn't really established him as much of a threat.
