How about avoid answering the question, dodge it? How hard is this? Every other owner in the league can, Jerry always needs that silly soundbite. Always.
A lot of owners dodge tough questions and deflect. Players and coaches too.

But I agree he does like putting out sound bites that do sound silly.

Jerry gets asked this question every day, if he said nothing at all he would still be saying something and ESPN would say Jerry was refusing to back his QB 24/7 for weeks.
:hammer:He's kinda stuck in a situation. The best thing to do as a owner is to always say we believe in and like our players.

And Jerry wonders why people call him a lunatic and doesn't know what the hell he's doing? I just don't understand it?

One day (which I doubt anyone will ever see) Jerry Jones will do something totally unexpected and some people will be utterly dumbfounded. That is notable since some people always react to what Jones has been normally doing for three decades.

It's funny you bring up the military, because I was going to bring up Bellichick. He STILL puts out there that there's competition at QB, that he'll play the best player....

Obviously, we all know Brady is going to start and why. But for a team mentality, it's best to put out there that no one's job is safe and you can be cut/traded at any time. His background of growing up on a military base really built hoodie into the man he is today and we may never see another coach like him in any sport.
The NFL has moved closer to being the player run league the NBA turned into. Magic Johnson got his HC fired and so did Elway.

The power is in the money, 25-30M for a QB? Hell, that's probably greater than the entire coaching staff on most teams. A HC better have one hell of a relationship with his owner and ironically, it is Brady with the relationship with Kraft or Belichick would have already traded him. But, Belichick still establishes who the boss is with every player and will still call out Kraft's favorite.

He can do that because he wins. Other HC's that try to be like that either don't last or have to change. Coughlin is ex military and was considered a hardass, which is why he got the results he did out of an expansion team in JAX. But he starts to struggle in NY, Barber and some others complain and all of the sudden Terrible Tom is taking them bowling. A kinder and gentler Tame Tom. However, that worked and he did learn a bunch of millionaires used to getting special treatment most of their lives are not a bunch of grunts.

It's funny, matt, but the day Magic forced the change, my Dad said that is the beginning of a massive change because coaches had always ruled and look at what we have today. There is only a small handful of HC's that feel they actually run the team. And McCarthy better be taking Rodgers to dinner a lot.

You got market and sell your product. You can't be talking bad about your company and the people in it.

I can't say "yo our operations division kinda sux and could be better"

What he is supposed to say? My QB sucks bad so this team won't go far, please stop buying tickets and we are a mess?

No owner of any company would do that.
Apple CEO- yeah the new XS is a scam don't buy it, the battery life is bad and you should probably skip this one.

BMW - yeah the connectivity with our Bluetooth sux worse than Ford and our Xdrive is a scam.

KFC - our chicken are genetically messed up, you really shouldn't eat it.

But this is common sense and you guys alread know this.
Well, what did the other 31 owners/GM say about their QB's today? Your post misses the point, why the hell say anything?

What the heck is suppose to say? Jerry has to support the players and coaches in the Public eye. Think about Dez. There was a lot of talk behind the scenes about Dez and the entire Cowboys nation thought he would be back. Then he was released. Boom! Just like that. Gone. Which GM offered two picks?

I am sure if anything is brewing behind the scenes none of us internet gurus would know.

Jerry snagged Cooper and the team started winning. Don't discount what this team will do behind Dak.

Quote " What the heck is suppose to say ?" How about something like this. Jerrah says " Well Ahh ( clears throat ) we consider all serious trade offers for any player, but Umm Ahh, we believe in Dak. Jerrah then grins widely. I should be Jerrahs publist. LOL

Did I miss something in the article. I thought that he was specifically asked a question about Dak. I don't think the other owners were asked that question in the article.

I don't think he just volunteered it.

Jerry Jones: I wouldn't trade Dak Prescott for two 1st-rd picks
  • By Patrik Walker
If you thought Jerry Jonescouldn't double-down any harder on Dak Prescott, you'd be wrong.

The Hall of Fame owner of the Dallas Cowboys is beyond enamored with his third-year quarterback, despite struggles with consistent accuracy and the like. The team itself hasn't done a great job at putting Prescott in a position to succeed, with many questioning the play-calling and decision to make Kellen Moore his QB coach only one season after Moore lost the backup job to an undrafted Cooper Rush, but Prescott isn't absolved from his part in the Cowboys' offensive struggles. With the addition of wide receiver Amari Cooper and a willingness to fully unleash running back Ezekiel Elliott, however, things appear to be at the corner -- readying to potentially turn it.

Jones made it unequivocally clear he's going to extend Prescott in the near future, but he has now also slammed the door shut on anyone thinking a team could ultimately pry the two apart via trade -- even if the offer was a blockbuster one.

The Johnny Walker strikes again. Damit Jerry you need to sober up and rethink this. Some bafoon offers a 1st or more even you take that and run.

Not saying get rid of Dak and want #4 to succeed in Dallas. Love the guy's intangibles but as truth says:
Pride goes before destruction. It's why Dallas hasn't sniffed a NFC title game for 23 years and as this culture continues, the drought will continue

You'd never know that based on the unyielding faith some have in FO. You'd think we were constantly making deep playoff runs season after season the way folks treat every move as if it's beyond reproach.

Have no issue at all with him supporting his QB. His comment over the top? yeah I would say so and no one would offer 2 1st at this point which makes the statement irrelevant. Bottom line is he believes in Dak for now.

Google the story of the 10 cow wife. Hopefully this was what Jerry was doing.

On an island where a man had to make a dowry offering to the father of the bride to get permission to marry her, the customary currency was cows. The dowry for a beautiful woman three or four cows at most. A plain girl brought one cow.

The richest man in the village paid 10 cows for a homely plain girl. As a result she believed she was beautiful and therefore became beautiful and graceful.

Maybe Jerry believes Daks propblems are mental and is trying to make Dak believe the hype about him.

Or maybe Jerry is old and senile.

Know why? Because they're smarter than that, they don't put themselves in situations as he does because they don't seek some half-assed celebrity status. That toad has never understood "no comment on that at this time" and they know he loves the mic.
